The first season of Family Ties is going to be released on DVD on 20th February 2007.

I'm really pleased about this news, and hope to get it. It was originally announced over two years ago that the first season would be released, but for some reason, nothing happened.

I think it's a darn good show, so I hope all seven seasons will be released.

Here's the cover art:

Do you guys like the show?

I watched two episodes last night - 4 Rms Ocn Vu and Don't Kiss Me, I'm Only the Messenger. The former is really funny; it's the one where Alex turns the house into a hotel while Steven and Elyse are away to pay for the damage to the car after Mallory crashed it into a telephone pole. The money starts rolling in, and Alex rents out the rest of the rooms, and he, Mallory, Jennifer and Skippy are forced to cater to everyone, and Steven then comes home early to find about two dozen strangers having a party in his living room, along with a kangaroo!

The latter is full of Skippy (who I love.) Skippy temporarily forgets his crush on Mallory and falls in love with her friend Jane. He asks Alex to talk to her for him, which Alex does, and it turns out that Jane has been in love with Alex since she was a child. Every time Alex tries to talk about Skippy, they end up kissing. Eventually, Alex makes a date for the three of them at a restaurant, hoping that Skippy and Jane will hit it off, but he and Jane kiss again while Skippy is in the bathroom. He returns and witnesses this (despite Mallory's attempts to distract him by kissing him herself.) But being Family Ties, everything works out.

It's a very good show.

I used to watch it....a million years ago.  I liked it until it jumped the shark and brought in the little brother. :)

I haven't really seen any episodes with Andy in them. Quite a lot of people seem to feel it jumped the shark in the fifth season, when Andy aged from about 18 months to a 4-year-old. Although, I have heard some people say that they still enjoyed the show with Andy, and that they liked his relationship with Alex (him idolising Alex, and all that.)

Plus, Andy is one of my favourite names, probably because I like Andy Gibb.

I'm sorry to double post, but I just wanted to post this clip I found from the episode A, My Name is Alex where Alex deals with the death of one of his best friends.

This is the last eight minutes of it, and I really want to see the rest now! Michael J. Fox won an Emmy for this episode, and from the bit here, I think he deserved it.

I remember that one.  It was pretty sad, Fox did do a wonderful job.

I found a favorite episode of Roseanne that I was reminded of after posting in the Mushroom thread.  It was when Roseanne found a old bag of pot and they decided to partake.  Funny, funny, funny!!

I like Roseanne. I think the Conners are one of the quintessential white trash families.

The Conners aren't white-trash - they're working-class, which is getting rare as the gap between rich and poor gets bigger and bigger. I think that was the cool thing about Rosanne. They were the last of the working-class. Now all you see on TV are people in large suburban houses.

Thank God for "My Name is Earl" (which Rosanne guest starred a couple weeks ago)

I've seen My Name is Earl, funny stuff!  I missed her guest starring.. dang-it.  I'll have to catch that one next time around.

I loved Roseanne for several reasons.  The fact that everyone on the show wasn't a perfect size, the humor and the ability to laugh at ones self.  :)

I suppose you're right, Stookie. The reason I referred to them as white-trash was because I saw an episode where Roseanne herself said they were a white trash family.

I like My Name Is Earl too. My favourite TV show is Frasier. I love all of the characters, although Frasier is probably my favourite. I love how pompous and blustering he can get.
