I found this OBE to be kinda funny for me.

I copy and pasted this from my myspace blog .. the address is "www.myspace.com/spiritual_guy"   in case anyone is interested.

I had a funny O.B.E. (Out-of-Body experience) last night...

I started my practice at about midnight and I set up my alarm clock to wake me up 40 minutes later..  I hit snooze countless times before this experience happened...

As soon as I put my head to the pillow after about 20 snoozez I suddenly found myself in a car. It scared the crap out of me because the dream started so quickly after trying to go back to sleep..  This let me know right away I was dreaming and my cousin Brandon was driving.. I told him to stop the car and let me out.  He wouldn't listen to me... the jew!  I looked out the window preparing to jump but it kinda freaked me out a little to jump out going 40 and I didnt want to do anything crazy to lose control and wake out of the experience so I tried to reason with him to stop the car and let me out..  I kept telling him "Dude Stop the car!! I'm dreaming , just let me out , this is all a dream!"  and hes like  "Are you ok!? Man your not dreaming calm down .. whats wrong with you!?"    It was starting to get on my nerves because he wouldnt stop but finally he did and I jumped out the car and started walking.. he followed me still trying to get me back in the car and telling me I was not dreaming.. He almost had me convinced by this time because everything was so real.. as it always seems when I'm "out"... but I just knew I was dreaming so at this point I wanted to shut him up and prove to him that this is a dream.. just to see how he would react..  As soon as this thought came to mind , I heard my snooze alarm start to go off "BUZZ BUZZ BUZZ BUZZ" I said to him , "Hear that!?  Thats my friggin alarm clock!"  and all of a sudden BAM we are in the room that I was sleeping in and I told him .. look .. try to turn off that alarm clock.. and he kept pressing the button to make it go off but it never did..  then I simply smiled and said "See this is a freakin dream! I told you!"  and I woke up and hit the snooze button for myself.

I remained totally aware that I was out of body throughout the whole experience.. I found it interesting that we were able to communicate so vividly and humorous that he was telling me we werent dreaming lol..

It was really cool hearing the alarm clock go off while still out of body in some yard of someones house and it surprised me that it didnt wake me up right away.. The noise is so aggrivating though that I really didnt want to stay OBE listening to "BUZZ BUZZ BUZZ BUZZ" so I woke myself up to turn it off.. I really need to get a 20 minute timer because thats the second time the alarm clock ruined and OBE for me in the same night.  Thats progress for me though.. I love it!

Alarm clocks are a killer. I've had a dream before where I was using a crane or something with my uncle and dad and it wouldn't stop beeping.  BUZZ BUZZ BUZZ BUZZ.... In the dream I was searching for whatever it was that was making the noise so I could stop it. It was becoming increasingly frustrating. Then I realized I was dreaming and decided I should just will it to stop myself. It took only a few moments to realize what was actually making the noise.

Back to work.....

OBE? No offense but it just sounds like a funny lucid dream to me.. was your cousin 'dreaming' this too? Then it's indeed a strange experience :)

You might be right , this might be more on the lines of a Lucid dream but really what is the difference in a Lucid Dream and an OBE if you know you are Out of Body?  To me Lucid dreams are ones where I might know I'm dreaming but not think for a second that there might be something I want to do while I'm out... thus , I end up flying or doing other random things.. but  if I manage to think to myself .. "ok I want to go talk to my guides now that I'm dreaming.." Well..  that I consider an OBE .. Yea this one is on the borderline but I was completely aware I was dreaming so I dunno.. *Shrugs*

What do  you guys say would be the line between Lucid Dreaming and an OBE?

The line is very thin. Your local consciousness has the ability to be creative and create scenarios that seem very real. This would be more like dreaming... something that doesn't really have a basis in this physical reality or even any other reality external to that of your local mind or consciousness. The dream scape however is a place of flux and information exchange between many minds as we are all really connected. So, there are layers or spectrums. The closer to the local consciousness your mind is focussed, the more "dream" you might call it. The more your consciousness slips outward toward other consciousnesses like that of your cousin, wife, friend, etc, the more OBE it is. However, technically I believe OBE is the act of producing a secondary body very close to the physical that is projected in what Bruce would call the real-time or near real-time zone. OBE's are not the only way for your consciousness to travel and interact with other consciousnesses. Everyone interacts with other consciousnesses on some basis of frequency or another in a state they think is dreaming.

My wife and I frequently meet in dreams and discuss issues on our minds that we haven't discussed in the physical body. For example, I will be thinking about an issue privately and mean to talk with her, but just not get around to doing it. Then, she will dream that I approached her and started talking to her about the issue, and the next morning she will tell me. It happens in reverse as well. I also frequently interact with people I am here to help guide in this way as well. Either they will remember me talking to them about an issue I had been thinking about and giving them counsel, or I will dream of them coming to me and telling me of a problem they are having and it will be confirmed the next day when I speak with them. I don't think clear lines can be drawn around the issue of dreaming and out of body or projections of consciousness. We are energy, and our energies communicate with all other energies. It's up to the experiencer to determine what is and isn't an externalized experience. For me, it's very easy to determine as normal localized dreams have a very definite spectrum of energy.

Thank you for that very insightful explanation Chris.  Can you tell me how you came to believe in that philosophy you stated about our energies intermingling with other conciousnesses and about your "local concoiusness" and stuff like that?  It striked a coord with me thats for sure.. I'de love to know where you got that from.

Peace out.

Just experience :). I don't expect anyone to believe me. I didn't believe a lot of the stuff I believe now until I experienced it. I just throw out understanding based on my experience to date... which is quite a bit more than some, and yet still less than others. It isn't the belief that is necessary, only the seed of an idea that might expand the mind around possibilities and open one to more experience.
