Dream or OOBE?

I experienced what I thought to be a full fledged OOBE , I emerged in my bedroom in my parents house and immediately recognized the state I was in. In the past I would immediately rush frantically to move anywhere away from my sleeping body as not to be drawn back inside. I would try to put physical distance between my energy body and my physical. That was always a mistake. This time, I immediately calmed down and tried to simply be where I was. Immediately I began to move, not of my own accord I hovered up through the walls and ceiling into the upstairs living room/kitchen area where I paused only a moment before continuing upward out through the side of the house. I floated above the property and could feel the misty air of a foggy morning. The time approximately 7am, the morning was slowly brightening the street. I thought that I should look for signs of validation and took note of a garbage can with a yellow lid at the end of one of the driveways that I had no prior knowledge of. It was then I began to slowly fall, I could feel my grasp of the experience slipping and I landed on the lawn of a neighbor's house. I could feel the blades of grass on my face, and hands as everything went black. I tried to resist waking, and instead of waking I was given sight again of an area similar in appearance to my street and I began to walk by some people and an odd looking car. I went to investigate the car, but I looked up at one of the people and he smiled at me as he removed a screw driver from the rear as if he had been making some sort of adjustments to it. It was then I realized I was dreaming and simply let myself drift into a dream that continued on for a long while.

Now this may seem a sort of typical story, however the difference is in this case. I don't actually live in my parent's house anymore, I live 650km away and my little brother occupies that room now. Was this projection? Or a lucid dream in which I created a projection scenario out of my own expectations and lack of concentration? Unfortunately in my decision to calm myself at the beginning I didn't actually begin to -really- look at my surroundings until I was outside and over the house.

What do you think?  :-)

I cant really answer your question, sorry, but I guess I sort of had a similar experience yesterday.  I have never had a conscious Obe that I can remember before this, so I don't have enough experience to distinguish if this was at least partially astral projection, or just a dream.  Anyways, I woke up at 5:12 in the morning, sat up, and did whatever for like 20 minutes.  Then I went back to sleep, and just thought about Obe (great method).  Suddenly, I woke up in a trance (I don't know if thats the right word).  It was probably sleep paralysis's, although I did not feel vibrations or anything like that.  I was on my side, in an awkward position.  This made it difficult for me to remove my astral arm so I gave up that.  I thought "I should roll", and I rolled out of my body.  I landed on the floor, although in the physical world my backpack would have been in the way.  Thats ok though, because I'm new to this.  It felt extremely real.  Ive had dreams about Obe before, but this was different; this just felt right.  I looked around for a few seconds and thought "Holy SH*T!  Is this actually happening!"  Then, about 5 seconds later, (I think at this point I had already lost focus and it became a LD) I saw my brother in my room.  I told him what happened (he was still in his body) and the rest is obviously more a lucid dream than an AP.   Well, both of our experience could have been either just dreams about AP, or  a mixture between a dream and an Obe.  You said that you didn't look at your surrounding until you were out of the house, so we both may have started off in an Obe, and then lost focus and turned it into a dream.  For your case, you may have really been astral projecting at your parents house.  Or, you may have been wandering the astral at your house, but dreamed of your parents house instead.  I dont know, I would say it was astral projection (although my opinion should be taken lightly), even if barely.  Anyways, I guess I have the same question; was this a real Obe (I know this question comes up alot)?

Thanks

Sounds like a full blown OBE to me. Although you projected from your parent's house and not the local you were actually in doesn't seem to matter. Don't ask me why this is because I really don't know. I guess time and space in the astral is of no real significance.

Tvos, one of our more experienced astral travelers seems to project from his parents house quite a bit so it seems to be a quite common occurance.
