I am pretty unfamiliar with astral projection and OBEs and don't believe I have ever had one, but recently I posted a dream I had on another forum and someone said that it was an astral projection, that I had met someone in the astral world who would probably become a good friend in the physical world... I later did make a good friend.  Here is the dream, what do you think?

I was settling down in my bed in my apartment on the top floor to go to sleep. The moon was shining so beautifully through my window, blue and silver light. Just as I begn to close my weary eyes, I saw a man at my window. (he was flying because I was on the top floor) He had short, black hair and skin as pale and silvery as the moon that shimmered with health and youth. His eyes were large, round, deep and so expressive. All he wore was a light linen about his waist and a pair of light ankle-high boots...mocasins? He just floated there in the air and then pointed upards with his finger, and I took this to mean, "Meet me on the roof," and I did with out hesitation. When I got up there, I found him sitting cross-legged, floating in the air and when he heard me comming, it startled him, but when he saw me he brought his feet to the ground, we embraced, and became entranced by eachother. Then, with excitement in his eyes, he took my hand we flew, all the way up to the moon, which was a perfect cresent.  Actually, we just appeared there.  I knew this was his home.  We sat on the moon's edge and he played me songs on his pipes. Some were happy, some were sad, and some were of love. Then we made love (I think), and then I awoke in his arms only to find his body cold and limp and he was dead, (or at least I thought so)

I think it depends a lot on your level of awareness during the experience. I'd say that if it felt like a dream (albeit a very vivid one), then probably it was just a dream. But if you were actually aware during the experience that your physical body is asleep and that you either dreaming or out of body, then it was probably a lucid dream or an AP. According to the description though, I would say it was a vivid/lucid dream, although I can't get into your head to give a better answer.

Hope this helps!

Thanks.

Well it didn't feel like a normal dream.  I was very concious of myself taking part in the "dream" and was able to think clearly about my feelings and about things not necessarily happening at the time like wondering where I am or what might happen next.  This "dream occured a long while ago so it is hard, but I might remember feeling extremely detatched from something, I thought it was my home because I knew it was something that I had come from.  I donn't know if it was really my body.  I don't think it was a lucid dream because I had no control over it or know that I was dreaming.

Is it possible that the person I met is a real person?

Depends how much flying you did in the dream. More than likely, it probably was astral projection. I've been working on several techniques and telling yourself to fly in a dream has been very useful.

Actually, I remember doing quite a lot of flying.  We flew around what seemed to be buildings like he was showing me around or something.  Teaching me something.

that sounds like some of the experiences I have. I had a dream the other night where I grabbed a bunch of bananas and began to levitate way above the tree line.

This is a gray area and is up for debate. It is possible only part of the dream is astral projection, but remember, many people believe we astral project everynight while dreaming anyway. The techniques we learn for astral projection are to make us conscious and to perform at will.

That is why many teachers recommend you write down your dreams and be able to recall them.
