well, a few weeks ago i couldn't have imagined a more bizarre forum, but here i am.  i have a friend who is into this stuff, but i haven't talked to him about it for years.  from my initial reading, i'm kind of blown away at the potential of all of this, and i never expected so many people would be involved worldwide.

honestly, the thought of having an OBE or APing scares me in the same way that taking a dangerous drug would.  but i also realize that this could be one of the most significant things that could be done by a human, so i find it very intriguing although i am still definately skeptical.  the validations thread showed promise, but the greatest evidence i've found is how forum members talk about these subjects and their experiences.

i don't really want to jump into this headfirst.....the only altered consciousness i've experienced is some light meditation.  i'm thinking that doing the non-OBE inducing hemi-sync stuff for awhile would make me feel more comfortable along with non-OBE attempts at lucid dreaming.  does this seem like a good idea?

Welcome!

That sounds like a great idea. The scariest yet most exciting thing for a beginner is stepping into the unknown, and you'll probably have a better time taking it at a slow pace, comfortably working your way into deeper states. Some people take things too quickly when they start, get frustrated, and quickly lose interest.

:-)  i'll be like the little kid hanging on to the pole in the deep-end during swimming lessons.

i think i've had a lucid dream before.  i did a bunch of reading about lucid dreaming one day, and then i remember the next morning i realized i was dreaming....i was outside, and i was facing a house maybe 30 yards away.  i willed myself to "run" towards the house, and i think i got too excited and then woke up.

it's very entertaining to read about other peoples' experiences!  an endless stream of creativity...very easy to make your own mental imagery.

I hope that with time you'll come to an understanding that these experiences are nothing really unusual - especially when you'll realize you're a spiritual being having a human experience, not the other way around
A warm welcome ldeeeep
The only constant in the Universe is change

The Present Moment

Dream recall is a good point to start from.

thanks everyone.  i've been thinking about this quote lately, and it seems easier to understand and tolerate other people if you look at them as spiritual beings having human experiences.  some people are still like children....they are too caught up in themselves to realize what will advance them and what will hold them back.  looking at people this way makes it easier to dismiss negativity...i think the strongest people are able to take control of their anger and not let it affect the positive.  i strive to become one of these people...
