I know a decent amount about astrology and I thought it would be interesting to analyze the "day." I don't really see anything too significant but I'll show you what I have... hopefully other astrologers could jump on this.

Sun:        Capricorn     0 deg.
Moon:      Aries           ~17 deg.
Mercury:  Sagittarius  15 deg.
Venus:     Sagittarius  6 deg.
Mars:       Capricorn    26 deg.
Jupiter:    Gemini         8 deg. Retrograde
Saturn:    Scorpio        8 deg.
Uranus:   Aries            4 deg.
Neptune: Pisces          0 deg.
Pluto:       Capricorn    8 deg.
N. Node:  Scorpio        25 deg.

I don't see too much crazy stuff going on... but of what's significant:

Of the above 11 planets I mentioned, 7 of 11 occur in only 1/4 of the zodiac in a contiguous section (cap., sag., scorpio)

Sun is just transitioning from Sagittarius to Capricorn
Neptune is transitioning from Aquarius to Pisces

Aspects I see:
Neptune exact sextile to Sun (see above why that's kinda cool)
Saturn exact sextile to Pluto
Moon very close trine to Mercury
Jupiter close opposition to Venus
Jupiter slightly less close opposition to Mercury
Uranus very close trine to Venus
Uranus slightly square to Pluto
North Node almost exact sextile to Mars

North Node, the way I interpret it, symbolizes the overall goal/lesson to be learned/accomplished. Scorpio is the sign of the immaculate representation of transformation, so as far as that goes, that makes a lot of sense for this day.

I don't know anything about retrogrades or other planets (chiron, etc.) so maybe someone can help there

UPDATE: I found the angles of the asteroids (I also found Jupiter will be retrograde)

Chiron:     Pisces         6 deg.
Ceres:      Gemini        26 deg. Retrograde
Pallas:      Pisces         26 deg.
Juno:        Capricorn    1.5 deg.
Vesta:      Gemini         19.5 deg. Retrograde
Fortune:   Cancer        20 deg.

Don't know what the hell those are though :)

Please if you're into astrology feel free to jump in on this.

sk8chik, your data is totally flawed and inaccurate. I don't mean to sound like a hard a** but the Sun will be in Sagittarius in-between the earth and the heart of the galaxy. This is one of the big significant factors in that we pass through the center of the plane of the Milky Way. The Mayan's didn't use a progressed calendar as most do in Eastern Astrology. The Sun should be covering the Black Hole at the center of our Galaxy and from our viewpoint this is in Sagittarius, the heart.

For defining astronomical events it would be easier to understand Sidereal Astrology or Astronomy. At this point we are crossing over into the other hemisphere of the galaxy with the sun going through its 11-year cycle of sunspots, we are crossing the meridian of the Milky Way.

The Mayans using a different type of astrology doesn't make the significance of eastern or traditional astrology obsolete. If something big is happening, there's no reason it wouldn't show up in traditional astrology. They're two completely different things. The Mayans weren't the only ones to predict the end of the world at this time, so it doesn't make sense to restrict yourself to looking strictly through their belief system. And according to traditional astrology, the sun will be in Capricorn, not Sagittarius.

I've read about the alignment of a black hole, as well, but there are tons of things of significance that could theoretically occur in 2012; that's certainly not the only one. The point of this thread was to see if something shows up in traditional astrology.

It's not the end of time, my point was that the Mayans used real time astronomy not the our eastern astrology, the stuff you get in the newspapers. Western astrology or Sidereal affixes the planets to their real position. Believe me the sun will be in Sagittarius in this real world, all you have to do is open your eyes and look up. If you go outside and look for anything in astrology in the heavens where you think it is according to what you're saying, it won't be there.

So if you're talking about what the Mayans prediction is about, first you might try seeing it their way and what they were seeing. Not what you want to see. So if the Mayans predicted a split in idealism of mankind why not look at astrology in the mannerism in which they perceived it to be. If you are using a completely data sheet from what they presumably predicted, your results could not in anyway coincide with any results that they may have perceived.

What you seem to be quoting from would be modern tropical astrology and not so much traditional astrology. In tropical astrology the "sun sign" has nothing to do with the real position of the sun as it is really 29 deg differences. The Sun will actually be in the real constellation of Sagittarius from December 18 to January 18.

I'm not dissing tropical astrology as I have studied Rosicrucian astrology and accept the fact of it being psychologically based and has validity. But tropical astrology doesn't account for the procession of the equinox and is some 1700 years outdated. And the Mayans were very precise in their calculations only about 3 seconds in 2000 years off. So look at it from their viewpoint.

The astrologers that predicted great changes in the world for the most part used the old traditional sidereal astrology with the placement of the sun and planets against the stars and not the tropical astrology you use.

Yeah, I think you're right its tropical astrology I'm referring to.

And again... that was the point of this thread. Not Mayan prophecy or sidereal astrology. I believe you that according to sidereal astronomy the sun will be in Sagitarrius, I'm not saying it wouldn't. But it will be in Capricorn according to topical astrology, and that was why I started this thread, to see if anyone could find anything interesting using tropical astrology.

QuoteSo look at it from their viewpoint.
There are lots of viewpoints. Not just the Mayans'. The point of this thread is to analyze another point of view.

The sun and most, if not all, of the planets will be in line with the center of the Milky Way galaxy.  From my discussions with people, that would be where the significance of 11:11 comes in.   I don't know if that has anything to do with tropical astrology, but at 11:11 on 21 Dec 2012, everything is supposed to line up and 'zoom, zoom' off we'll go one way or the other.
