Evidence for an Atlantis

Is there any at all?

If there is absolutely no evidence for such a place, I find it really strange that so many people place their faith in such an idea.

Atlantis does belong to the realm of myth and legend, but I see it as one of those "dark matter" type theories - can't prove it, but there's definitely something there that's had an effect.

There's a period of pre-recorded history that is in line with the time frame of Atlantis that seems to explain a number of global events, none the least of which are things like how several ancient races completely isolated from each other all knew how to build pyramids in the same way.

Looking for evidence could end up providing a bit of a dissapointment though. For those of us who've experienced something to do with Atlantis, it always comes by way of spirit, vision, psychic reading or past life regression.

Do you have an opinion on continental drift? From the little I've read of Blavatsky, the whole Lemuria & Atlantis notion seems really fantastical and mythical to me, with it's entailing giants and all. If such a race truly existed, you would think that their would have to be some sort of physical evience supporting it eg: Giant human remains or something.

Exactly!
That's the thing - there's no remains, no evidence.
One other idea can be drawn from this, that the Atlanteans weren't really that unique, and they just ended up blending into other cultures around the world. "Legend" has probibly made them out to be something far more than they actually were.

As to continental drift, I've not really looked into it enough to form any opinions.

its been "found" all over the place...

the caribbean, the mediterranean , the antarctic. just to name a few. then there are some weird ancient road looking things that lead randomly into the sea.

Exactly, it pisses me off that everything found in the ocean that "looks" like it has been made-by-man, is Atlantis.

It is strange because the only explanation I can think of for these findings is that Atlantis was in fact the Pangea, and the separation of the continents happened much later than what we've been told.
