Hi

I'd like to ask you if you know of any great technique on how to dream about flying in a normal dream ?   (i'm not asking about techniques on how to fly in a lucid dream)

The thing is that I've noticed that I tend to naturally get lucid/OBE if I simply dream about flying.

Little sharing of last morning's experience if you're interested, took place @ 8 am.
I was dreaming that I was in a place separated by a small barrier/frontier, one side was more for humans, one other more for animals (but animals who can speak and behave like humans). I was talking to a few of them across the frontier, I freaked out a bit as an impressive bull standing nearby told me something touching my chest with his leg kind of defiantly. But I discovered soon he was not bad at all, those animal-humans where kind of cool actually. So decided to fly over the barrier. Then I remember something about ordering something there, coffee or something, and away for a moment, I see the coffee has disappeared. I noticed 2 animal-humans giggling, I suspect they wanted to play with me, again not in a bad way. Anyway, I decide to fly back to the human side. As I do that, my flying takes for a few seconds a clear and slow continuous motion as I see myself moving past a tree. After just a few seconds noticing that, I recognized a distinct OBE-like symptom (leaving the body with a kinesthetic feeling like removing some food from a plastic container), I got lucid and thought "just go with it!".

I'm right then propulsed high speed forward, in a standing position, flying straight ahead, then gently slowing down and describing a soft curb downward as if pulled by gravity. Landscape around is blurry, can't see solid matter. In the last few meters, I open the arms widely, still standing, happy and smiling, saying "Guides, would be good to get to know you". No sign, so thought I should be able to manifest something I want in that state, and said "allright let's go to a place where there're lots of women" :-D  but then quickly caught myself and actually thought "No, I want to do something for my personal development". Then, for an unknown reason, I freaked out that the experience somehow could affect my physical body and decided to stop. My vision got distorted by some black moving patches and right after woke up in bed.

I know that Robert Monroe was talking about dreaming he was flying in a plane as a way to trigger lucidity/OBE.
I think the key for me is noticing myself flying in a slow and continuous motion. Do you guys notice that too?
And more importantly, do you know a reliable way to simply dream about flying?

Thanks for any suggestion

The act of resisting a thing is the act of granting it life. The more you resist, the more you make it real - whatever it is you are resisting.

If you bombard your subconscious with thoughts and feelings of flying, there is a chance it will show up in your dream. Something that might work is playing some sort of flying video game, like a superman type game or planes and jets, and immerse yourself in it for a couple hours right before you go to sleep. The flying from the game might slip in. Reading books about flying before bed might also do the trick. Not light reading, you really  have to saturate your subconscious with it.

Thanks Stookie. Yes your idea makes sense..I should try that.

In your experience, have you felt that dreaming about flying helped produce lucidity/OBE?

You could also try giving your subconscious suggestions as you fall asleep. So basically all you have to do while falling asleep is say to yourself over and over again in your mind or silently to yourself is"after i fall asleep i want to have a dream about flying"and that should work.

Hello

zorgblar, thanks for your suggestion. That reminds me of Laberge's idea of repeating to oneself before falling asleep to get lucid at next dream.
Have you ever managed to dream of flying or to dream a particular topic doing that? I should give it a try.

What I would be even more interested is a testimony/technique from someone who repeatedly manage to induce a flying dream using a particular technique.

By the way, Stookie, this morning I dreamed of playing a video game  :-D  I haven't played any flying game in real life yet, but somehow your idea found its way into my dream :) So, I dreamed I was in a games centre, sat down on a kind of rotating stool whose height can be adjusted. Suddenly I'm off balance, the stool rotates faster and faster, and I shout for staff's help as I got higher and higher to the point of actually flying and rotating close to the ceiling. At that point, I feel the OBE symptom but I wake up instantaneously, undoubtedly because the feeling is too disorientating.

I think the key for me to entry and sustain separation/lucidity is to have an unidirectional flying, whatever the dreamed body position is. In some past experiences, I projected/LDed by dreaming of being in a horizontal position and flying upwards or downwards too. As long as the move is not too disorientating like a rotation...

I don't use self-suggestions to lucid dream.Only to astral project.I found out that self-suggestions could be used for astral projection and lucid dreaming by reading the book adventures beyond the body by william bulhman.

No, not really, but I don't fly very often in normal dreams either. Here's one I had several months ago which I remembered in great clarity, but was just a normal dream, not lucid:

hey zorgblar, I've read that book too. I don't remember, it's a long time ago, but I know it was a good one.

Stookie, nice dream! The chase sounds exciting... Would be cool to get lucid and feeling the chase even more.

Thanks guys for your comments, I appreciate.
