Kyokushinka

I personally practice in my basement, where my family usually doesn't traffic through while I'm there. It has ajustable lighting to make me feel more comfortable, a couch, tv, and stereo, not to mention my playstation. Usually I work out to music, then turn the music off and meditate for a while to start my ki training.

In the warmer weather I plan to start training outside as well, I've about 2 acres of land, with many trees to make the area fairly private. I figure that it may even give better results as I would have a direct connection with the earth and the environment around me from which I could draw energy.

Anyone know a place I could practce outside if I don't have a very private backyard? It has to be within walking distance too, because I can't drive yet. [:D]

I practice in my room as well, Squeek. It has TV, five game systems (one of which doubles as a DVD player), VCR, like you said, the works. I wish it had a lock though because I'm always kinda scared my little brother or someone will barge in without knocking (no one ever knocks at my house[:D]) and disrupt me. I need a new doorknob though (mine broke) so I'll just ask my dad to get one with a lock.

Tom

(1) Inside, like you.
(2) During the summer I sometimes sit outside to meditate near my job.
(3) If you are taking Amtrack, Chicago. I don't know about the speeds and times, but it does not look like that is a direct trip either way.

Squeek

LOL...Ain't i a stinka?

anyway back on the topic.  I get a bunch of traffic.  This is the reason why i can only work during the night hours.. I got a bathroom directly across from me, my parents are to my right, my sister below...  so yea.

and btw...Gamecube is the way to go.  Just thot i'd throw that in.

~Squeek (insane)

Tom

Vipassana is a type of meditation. It can be done anywhere and any time even in a crowd. It is not ki practice, but it is better than ki practice. The benefits are longer lasting.

panabelle

Tom - How do you do Vipassana meditation? Could I do it in class? [|)]

Squeek - Nah, PS2 is waaaaay better. Can't play a DVD on a Gamecube.[:D]

Squeek

Get a real DVD player... they work much better

And you don't have SSBM, REsident Evil, Mario Sunshine, ZELDA WIND WALKER!!!  sweet...preordered it today!

So tom, yes please divulge some information on it. I will try to search it online, but with my crappy connection, who knows?

Until we meet again

Bob251

You left out one biggie, Squeek.   METROID PRIME!!!!

Anyways, Tom, you've piqued my interest.  I'm sure everyone here is interested in what this form of meditation is.

Squeek

Yea I went ahead and researched that....it's not for me :p

some of the dates were a bit off, but i think i read that it is a 10 day course to take.  I also read something about 90 days, but i dunno.

If you want to look at it more, go ahead

and no, i didnt buy prime...my friend did...i got Mario Party 4

~Squeek (Dang is it Late! o.o)

auraseer

Hi,
And you missed out Super Mario Sunshine and Burnout [:D].

I train in my room, also. I have no lock on it, so when my parents come up to bed (to sleep! [:)]), they can open the door freely. This is a problem because my sister has already seen me, so I had to tell her. She thinks that Ki will do stuff like in DBZ and I said to her that ill do it on her if she doesnt leave me alone. So now im sister-viewing-free [8D].

Cya,
auraseer.

panabelle

Actually, I have a Gamecube too. [:D] I just like the PS2 better, although yes, Metroid Prime, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Smash Brothers Melee all rule.

Squeek

Heehee... You have no idea! The Legend of Zelda : The Wind Walker is totally amazing.  It is made with cel shading (sweeet)  And when you preorder they send you the gamecube version of Ocarina of time and an unrealeased version FREEEEEEEEE

I love my room. Yay.  Everything i need, all in one place.  100% awesome.

SO!!!  Um. I can't go outside at my job :p  it is sorta in the school.  So are they any other suggestions?  I realy want to do some aerokinesis...

~Squeeksimousness

panabelle

Oooooooh, aerokinesis! I really want to do that too but I'm a little scared to mess with the weather (extra wind here = no wind somewhere else). Plus there's sorta going to be 18 inches of snow today. [:P]

Speaking of kinesises (sp? What I mean is plural of kinesis) has anyone had any success with pyrokinesis? How? What techniques did you use? (Preferably nothing that requires anything more than a candle.) I really wanna try to be pyrokinetic. Or aerokinetic, list any related successes/techniques with that here too.

Tom

Vipassana is a type of meditation which develops awareness of processes instead of on fixed objects. Concentration has to be paired up with it. The Theravada Buddhists have developed it more than the other branches which teach it indirectly.

Squeek

Yea but here's the catch... I'm 16. I'm in school.  And even if i was like home schooled or something, it just doesnt seem like something for me.  If anybody else out there wants to look it up, go ahead. I'm not stopping ya.

and panabelle, here, the snowstorm ended. It's monday, and we have tomorrow off too.  4 day weekend!  we got about 23 inches total i think..didnt officially measure it all...wahtever...im lazy.

~_q.U'e;e,k

Tom

The best part about vipassana is that it does not require much in the way of extensive study. The only simpler meditation system I know of is Soto Zen. Both are designed to be a part of even the busiest of lives.

Squeek

I just wanted to ask this question for a long time, and i just remembered!  Wheeeee...

I practice all of my KI in one place: My room.  Yes, i do have a lock, and my room is supremely cool.  TV, Stereo, Computer, the works.

One problem with this.... I can't practice outside, and i don't get how some people can!

So 3 questions then.

1) Where do you practice?
2) Do you practice outside (explain)
3) A train leaves Denver at 4:00 pm heading east at 60 mph.  At 5:00pm, a train leaves New York heading west at 70mph. Assuming the tracks are right next to each other, when will they meet?

LOL~~~~!
