Dreams of hurt animals

I've had a lot of dreams over the last several months of finding a hurt animal, trying to help it, and it attacking me in the process. In one, there was a bloody german shepherd who I felt very sorry for and wanted to help. It bit me of course. I'd say in a 4 month period I had about 10 or so of these types of dreams. Very recurring topic.

I have this tree in my back yard thats trunk is about 8" diameter, comes up about 10", then splits into 2 trunks creating a "V". So I'm out cutting my grass last week, and do a double-take when I see this little bird right in the "V" of the tree, stuck in there, not sitting on anything. It was so out of place that, 1st: I thought someone had put a stuffed bird there, 2nd: "am I dreaming?". I got up close and it moved a little, but barely, and made no sounds. It looked bad. So I got a flat paint-stir out of the shed, came up from behind it and popped it out. It was definitely stuck in there. As soon as it was out it started squawking and hopping away, and a momma bird started swooping down at me.

Anyways, I couldn't help but wonder, maybe something that has been affecting my dreams was somehow also affecting my real-life occurrences. I also take into consideration that it's just coincidence. I guess if things like this keep happening I'll know. Heck, I don't know how reality works.

Wow, maybe you'd better find a friendly neighborhood shaman who can talk to the animals!   :-D

That is interesting.  I've read some folks like Fred Alan Wolf, Robert Moss and Wayne Dyer that talk about reality being a dream state that is experienced both in sleep mode and waking mode.  Don't know.  I'm still  pondering that.  I too have had some fascinating correlations between experiences in sleep mode and waking mode.  I'd like to think they have direct links, but then again -- maybe it was random -- just the anchovies on the pizza!

Did you still have the same dreams after the 'real' experience?
What happened with the little bird from the tree? Don't leave me hanging :-)

I'd say the injury element and the fact that it's an animal is like a natural process of some description that's going wrong. Then there's your attempt at intervention which is abruptly stopped. Even though you are acting with good intentions, you have to accept the flow of nature. Sometimes what you view as bad, must happen for progress. Something along those lines, I may be using the wrong metaphors.

I'm not lecturing you here I'm just coming up with how I would interpret it if it were mine.

I had one this weekend where I was chased up a tree by several animals ganging up on me, including a bear. But once I got up there, it seemed they just wanted to scare me, not hurt me. It was kind of funny, different animals ganging up like that.

Later that same afternoon, I saw the little bird in some brush and the momma feeding it. And this weekend I saw a little bird perched in a small tree with a momma feeding it. I'm guessing they were the same pair. Unrelated, I have a tail-less squirrel that lives in one of my trees. It's weird looking.
