Verifiable proof of OBE's

Hello everyone....I am very new in my exploration's of OBE's, I haven't yet had one although I'm keenly attempting to educate myself. I am very open-minded but consider myself to retain a healthy skepticism, basically I just want to know the truth of things. I was disappointed to read about the lack of success in experimental situations with verifying information brought back from OBE's...I would have thought that that is such a crucial factor, if one can do something as simple as read some text or listen to a conversation during an OBE, and then verify this information upon returning to the physical, then there would be absolute proof. And this would be proof that could bring all but the most hardened skeptics round to believing in the truth of OBE's.

So basically I am wondering if anyone has any tales of information they have experienced when out of body, which they have been able to verify upon their return. I know this is the first thing I will be attempting when I finally succeed in busting on out. The biggest question for me (and for many people I am sure)....there is too much anecdotal information to disbelieve in OBE's completely, but are they something that only exist in our minds or is it really something outside of us? The former means that they are an amazing anomaly and a significant insight into the power of our minds, the latter means that my life and belief systems change completely as does anyone's who will open their mind to it.

I have heard of verification experiments being successful. Ultimately, you will always be able to write them off to chance or trickery. I still believe astral projection happens, and I would encourage you to continue seeking your answers.

But always consider the truth and falsehood of every claim. Until you have actually done it, you cannot know.

Successful Verification experiments have taken place but I think more ones that are unsuccessful seem to overshadow them. That isn't to say there hasn't been successful experiments on it.

Also STILL No one can rationally find a reasonable explanation for people who have died and come back to report events out of the normal 5 senses whilst they were dead.

It seems OBEs are so complicated, i mean in the non physical worlds , things will be different, the laws of materialization etc..

It will be hard to verify OBEs 100%, i think its something we all must aim to experience ourself.

From what people say, its nothing like a dream, also theres all those near death experiences...  and they are not all recent NDEs...  they go back thousands of years.

Then you have past life regressions and the children who remember excrement loads of details about a past life somehow and have verified it with friends of the person they was in the past life.  There are many reported cases, a real lot of cases.

I dont know if its possible to view the physical world exactly how it is from the astral worlds.  Some people say it is, others say it isnt.  To me its not important at all, because the non physical worlds are different realities from ours.  We cant expect everything to be the same and work the same.

Putting all the pieces together tho, i would say astral projection or OBEs are very real.  One day we could get the solid scientific proof.

Somebody on here, has done alot of experiments over years and years, "invisiblelight.us" or something...  Hes apparently had alot of good experiments.

Thank you very much for your responses everybody, I am new to this forum but beginning to realise what a great place it can be!

VagusEques and Milkdrops: I am basing most of my knowledge on the book "Parapsychology" by Richard Broughton, although I know that there is potentially much more researching to be done for me. I'm sure there are many accounts out there of successful experiments, and I look forward to discovering them.

bjb1234: I completely understand your point about the potential differences between the makeup of physical and ethereal realities, and this being an obstacle to successful verification experiments. For the skeptics, that works as a very convenient excuse from the believers. But....perhaps it is even a deliberate thing that the experiences are not so easily verifiable, reinforcing the idea that OBE's and astral projection are something that we HAVE to experience ourselves to believe. A matter of faith I guess.

It does concern me though, that when I eventually get there, I still won't be able to say that I know that is it 100% real. I know it is said that one just knows it when it happens, but without being in full understanding and control of our minds, can we ever really know that? Hopefully that's when we can have our own little verification experiences, maybe unprovable to others but enough to make us know the truth of it.

It's all speculation from my court though, I can't really say much until I have had an OBE. I must continue with the tuition of the likes of Monroe, Bruce, Dennett and Pritchard and cross my fingers very tightly!

The only verification experiment i know about is a man who projected to another town and knocked over a box that was placed purposefully for the experiment with people watching it. This man not only claimed he could astral project but also had some kind of psychic power as well i guess =). That was a success but i don't know how many other experiments have been successful.

From my experience i can say it is =). It is not always possible, it takes quite a bit of energy to maintain a projection conciously and view the physical world. If you don't have enough energy or if you cannot control your mind from slipping into a dreamworld then the experience will become distorted from reality in some way and accurately viewing the physical world would become impossible until control is regained or until you give yourself a break to get the energy you need back.
I used meditation to help me maintain control and gain more energy so i could project properly for longer. If you want to have what i call a "proper projection" i suggest regular meditation and work on your chakras to help train up your astral body.

My goal is to be able to project whenever i want and for as long as i want, at the time being i still fail from time to time and projections sometimes become distorted. But when i reach my goal, i intend to try and proove it to as many people as i can, or at least until the skeptics tinkle me off so much i just fly off in a huff =P.
however i remained skeptical until i had my first experience, so it seems no matter what people tell you or show you, the best way to eliminate doubt absolutely is to do it yourself! For all those hunting for proof, you'll find it in your self =P good luck and happy hunting! woo!

As for the verification of OOBE's. That would fall into the realm of proving the pseudo-science of all parapsychology. I doubt that you will have this.. First of all, any Hardcoded Scientist will never be open enough to trust what they recieve or get it from the right source. Secondly, OOBE doesn't want to be found. The other side doesn't want the World to know it exists.

There are scientists who are the fringes, you can find them on the Discovery Channel... They talk of the other dimensions outside of normal science that can theoretically exist. All this talk is in it's MAJOR infancy. You will not grasp proof scientifically in my mind for my decades/centuries to come. Perhaps in a thousands years there will be Proof, as far as time is concerned for us. MORE than proof, every day spiritual experience for the Masses? Heh... Will really change things

I will say this much, could I have offered PROOF. This is for a few to know, as the masses, the scientists and yourself will not hear what my voices have said. You will call me unbalanced, schizo, etc... I myself question it at times, having been born an atheist and scientist.

Although, the proof that I Have had, if put into a labratory would have proven 110% that Psychic phenomenon exists. Extra Sensory Perception in particular

i.e. I would have tasted what your wife ate on 25 seperate occasions over 25 days...at the exact time as her, every time. When I tell people this they think I'm videotaping them outside their window, and I must be insane


They usually cower in fear and never wish to know. The messages will never be revealed to science or for matters of proof. Tried it before, no luck in that. These things don't want to be found

P.S. I have asked the same question myself. Interestingly, there are plenty of frauds and wishful thinkers out there. I ponder if I am one myself. We often make out what we are greater than it is, due to our own enthusiasm.

An interesting thing I have found with my obe's is that every time they happen I am allways in close proximity to my body and the surroundings seem  real if only a little different.Where as a dream will happen in a spontaneous place with strange aspects or fantasy like features.

I've recently managed to do a card experiment on two  occasions and the results were close enough to keep my interest in continuing.

The first card I viewed kept changing suit (as though my mind was having difficuly deciding what it would be). The number remained stable though (a five) , and the suit eventually seemed to be a spade.

The real card turned out to be a 5 of hearts.

The second card I saw as an eight of clubs.

The real card was a nine of clubs.

Obviously not proof of anything - but intruigingly close!

One factor to take into account is that it can be difficult to see anything clearly in the OBE state. Just look at your watch or your hands and they can instantly begin to melt or distort. It's also often very dark. I'll continue with this until I prove it one way or another (to myself at least). OBE's are so exciting that it can be hard to focus and remember to carry out the experiment. I'll post any good results though...

An interesting result, very close.  Keep at it.  There is a problem with reading things as you say, in the astral in that each time you look at a sign etc it seems to change.  But keep at it, you might be able to develop the ability to keep things stable...

Having an OBE will definitely rock your world, and your belief systems. I had always believed in God, and that we have a soul seperate from our body, but until I experienced it for myself, the idea seemed really hard to grasp.

The way that these experieces have helped me, is because before I was so wrapped up in my looks, and always worried about everything being perfect. When I had my first OBE, I realized that I am not this body. Who I really am, is not what everyone sees on the surface. I am a soul, able to exist without this body of mine. Now, I feel I am not as "shallow" as I used to be. I am constantly striving for new knowledge, and seeking God on a daily basis. I'm so thankful that I have been given these validating experiences! I don't feel the need to prove  the evidence experiences. The experience is what it is.

Good luck with your endeavors! I wish my loved ones had the ability to experience what I have. It's trully amazing.
