Involuntary eye movement & Commentating while.....

Hi Zarklon. What you describe certainly sounds a lot like the Rapid Eye Movement (REM) phase that occurs during sleep. I don't know a whole lot about REM sleep so am unsure as to whether or not the eyes usually move up and down. Yet there is every indication that what you experience is indeed a common occurance.
    Because REM happens during sleep very few people consciously remember it. Yet REM would probably occur to anyone who meditates regularly and obtains a state of deep relaxation. If I were to offer advice I would suggest trying to 'go with it'. It appears that you are either disturbed or distracted by this. As we know it is always preferable to stay calm and focused.[^][:)]

Hey again .. I was pretty careful to not use the term REM to describe it cause i thought that it only occured when you are dreaming or fully asleep.. I can certainly say that it only happends to me once I reach a certain degree of relaxation ( real far down the line ) I guess its a sign for me that I'm not too far away from the astral =P Thanks for giving me that reassurance I needed.  As far the mental commentary..ing...whatever , should that be done or does that create too much mental activity .. ( or is there such a thing as being to mentally away for OBE ) ?   Insert

Hi there,

I can't really give any insight into the eye fluttering, although it has happened to me on occassion. Generally I try to look up and focus on my "third eye" when in a relaxed state. Maybe if you do this your eyes won't move as much.

Regarding the inner conversation you have, that was a huge "problem" for me early on, because it interfered with my concentration. I kept thinking so much about wanting to get vibrations, what was happening to my body, etc., I couldn't focus. What I have recently tried is counting to at least 100 while I am deep breathing. This activity keeps my mind occupied on something other than my physical state, while I get deeply relaxed. After the counting, I generally mentally state my intention to OBE, and note if there are any vibrations in any body part. If so, I try to magnify those feelings and move them throughout my body. Seems to be working!

Heh , counting helped me a while back but now I've reached a point where I cannot simply count and let OBE happen..it sorta just happends whenever it wants to now...It happends a lot less often than I want it to happen when I'm at home.. I dont want to miss anymore of my morning classes trying to project even though it means more to me than anything else in life! I guess I"m a geek with it.. I would rather have an OBE than go out and party..hell.. I was even at my cousin's house and he was having a party ..I was in the other room trying to project into the other parts of the house where the party was goin on.. Insert   oh well , I'll figure out some way to do it more often when I'm at home. Counting usually doesnt help me anymore cause I get too bored with it . .I've noticed that I have to start actually trying to FEEL the breaths and FEEL the relaxation come in waves more than mentalling keeping myself occupied .. if I Do that then I'll simply get to daydreaming and POOF I'm sleeping ;(

*goes to get more sleep in to OBE later tonight* Thanks for the counting tip though , but it just dont work for me anymore ;(

Hello Zarklon,

If the eye-fluttering thing is bothering you, try massaging your third eye with your awareness hands. What also works for me is to use the NEW stirring motion in my third eye area.

Thanks for the suggestion but its not really bothersome.. I'm just trying to figure out what it is =P Its wierd that I only get in after I reach a certain degree of relaxation and try to induce a dizzy flipping/rolling motion through visualization. Its pretty wierd heh.

Hey again everyone , I've been somewhat successful in getting vibrations but umm.. I dont wanna miss my morning class because I try to go astral so I've resorted to just getting more sleep and trying again at home.  I've been able to go astral almost every morning in class though.


I am curious as to why my eyes seem to want to move up and down rapidly..Picture yourself falling off a building and your facing that building .. the windows of the building are seen but your eyes keep going up and then back down , up and back down , rapidly as if your eyes are focusing on each window as it passes... thats what my eyes do .. UPdown Updown quickly at some point in my relaxation...

I am usually able to create some kind of .. rolling , tumbling , or dizzy flipping motion while my body is relaxed .. this is sorta fun cause it actualy feels like I'm on one of those amusement rides where it flips you all over.. I dont know what to make of this eye fluttering stuff.. what is it ?


Also , do you find it helpful to talk to yourself as your relaxing the body? You know .. like saying "ahhh ok , my legs and all are relaxed , my neck is relaxed and I'm just gonna wait for vibrations.....yup....any time now , just stay relaxed and my body will eventually fall asleep...yup..come on .... " I find myself mentally talking to myself as I do this to kinda keep me focused and not fall alseep but I dont know if it is keeping my mind too mentally active for vibrations to come. What do you guys think?


Basically a recap on what im trying to figure out is.. What is this eye fluttering stuff I experience when I try to create a dizzyness or tumbling and does it help to mentally commentate while your relaxing?

Thanks a bunch , and to all that are having trouble with falling asleep when you do it ... get a LOT of sleep and try when your not one bit tired.. worked for me one night.. I even woke up from a 5 hour nap , tried, got vibrations , ended it then went to sleep. I wasnt tired one bit but I Found out that I can make myself fall asleep after 13 hours of sleep just by relaxing my body enough! Heh...
