I read that when you are astral-travelling, you're sending out your soul, or conciousness. Does thatmean if you don't get back into your body something bad will happen? Can you just snap out of it, or will that cause damage or something?

Heh i will be posting lots and lots of questions because there isn't too much information that i can find, and i've only tried about 2 times. even then i generally didn't go past my loungeroom. I was scared i'd get lost if i left (:

My viewpoint on astral projection is a bit different than the norm, and it's due to my occult teachings and rosicrucian background... but it makes so much sense to me and falls in line with my own experiences with projection.

I believe that when we project we never actually leave our physical bodies.... As a multidimensional being, we are made up of layers, just like the planes.  We have subtle bodies that we use to interact with those realities, but they never actually split from the physical.  Think of it more like you are a radio, and the astral plane is a specific station you want to tune into.  A radio antenna always receives ALL of the signals being broadcasted but only tunes into one at a time.  You, are the antenna, and the astral plane is merely one station.  You are just shifting your awareness to tune into that reality.  Your subtle bodies are the spots on the dial on the radio. 

This theory makes sense because through science we already know that underlying everything is vibration.... frequency... waves....

And what's even more interesting is that utilizing this theory, you can come to realize that you exist somewhere outside of these levels.  Makes sense because in occult teachings, the higher you ascend, the less individual you are, and the more connected with everything else you are.  I could get into the theory that all reality is an illusion and all that exists is thought... the thought and contemplation of the 'One'  - the creator... but that's for a different forum.

But looking at existence in this light, no you can never get stuck outside of your physical body, or get lost and not be able to find your way back.... there is no space and no time as we perceive it... so you never really leave in the first place.

it's hard enough for people to stay outside of their physical body for any period of time when they're astral projecting.  it's not too likely that they'll get trapped outside of it.  nonetheless, astral projecting could affect a person's physical health adversely under certain circumstances if the person is not appropriately skilled.

Been awhile.. nice to see that you are back posting!

To answer your question, think about it as dialing a radio station and connecting with that frequency. Once you able to tune into the frequency you are connected and can do what ever you desire to carry out. I do think that the spirit body  do reside outside the physical. just a matter of making that connection to that frequency.

I have video tapped myself during the OBE many times and you can see on the expression while upon awaking like I am in a trance state, snapping out of it and immediately awakening. Different then a typical dream and awakining.

The general thought is that the "umbilical" cord can't be severed. The new thought about this that was mentioned earlier is that the conscious energy itself is physical in nature.

The new thing is that "conscious thought" only is what you are in those planes, why the cord can't be severed, and why darker beings thrive on fear and can't damage you beyond what fear permits.

If you think about it, it's conceivable that certain entire planes could be created by thought alone. Wiccans beleive in creating artificial beings known as elementals through magic work (powerful thought), it shows the power of thought. So I beleive the overall message is that you are safe from being cut off from yourself. The physical isn't relevant.

The only way I think it is even possible to get lost or not be able to get back into your body would be if you were comatose. Otherwise, the soul/spirit is so anchored into the physical body that its very hard to stay out, much less get lost. I have read sporadic articles where people encountered invisible walls and thought they were screwed but it was a learning process and they learned that if they went back the way they came they could get around the invisible wall.

ok, i am preee interested in synergy's theory. But I read somewhere that you could meet up with other people who are astral projecting in the astral planes. So because you're kind of imagining how you know this place should look, does that mean that each person is potentially seeing something else when they walk around or whatever?

The way I see it is that everyone of us are contributing to what it looks like there.  Because thought can create on the astral level, you will see elements you created and elements that were not created by you and were possibly created by others.... and also elements of it that always just 'were'.
