I've never had an OBE before (or I don't think I have) and I really want to start learning how to go into an OBE.

These are some questions that I have:

1. How is an OBE different from a lucid dream (which I also want to learn about  :-D)
2. What is it like to be in an OBE? (Is it different for every person?)
3. What can you do in an OBE?
4. How do I go into an OBE (I'm sure there are some topics on that subject in this forum)?
5. Should I learn how to have a lucid dream before I learn how to have an OBE?
6. Is there anything online that you think I should read? (Sadly I'm not going to be able to buy any books to help me because I'm only 15.)

I'll probably think of more questions later.

If you have any other information that you think I should know just tell me.

Thanks!!!

I'll go through these quick.

1. Depends who you ask
2. Depends on a number of factors
3. Imagination is the limit ???
4. http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/welcome_to_permanent_astral_topics-b44.0/  http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/welcome_to_the_astral_faq-b46.0/
5. It's not necessary. It wouldn't hurt either.

It's really difficult to answer those, as it could be an entire book, but those links have books-worth of info. Good Luck!

Hi Pyro21,

It's definitely worth getting your hands on some books. Robert Peterson's books are available for reading online for free (http://www.robertpeterson.org/) and they're pretty good. You should also try to obtain Monroe's Journeys Out of Body. It's available in most bookstores and it's not expensive. I'm sure you know other ways to obtain ebooks too, but I'm not advocating that ;)

Pyro21

Thanks for the help you guys!!!

I'll try and get some books.

Here are a couple more questions that I thought of:

7. What is the astral realm? Is it just when you're on earth but out of your body or is it a totally different place?

8. Can you meet other people that or having OBEs in the astral realm?

Astral316

1. I forget who thought of the definition but I liked it... typically "lucid dreams" are controlled by the subconsious and "OBEs" are controlled by the consious. In either case you can heighten your: awareness, cognition, sensory input, recollection of reality, and post-experience recall. Control and "realizing" you're out of body is usually reserved for OBE. It's really more of a spectrum than categories... nothing is black and white when it comes to this stuff.

2. It's different for every experience, let alone every person.

3. Anything.

4. Meditation and energy work did wonders for me.

5. You don't have to.

6. I read Robert Bruce's Treatise on Astral Projection on AstralDynamics.com, which got me hooked on the subject.

7. It's just a fancy way to say your consiousness is present in another dimension seperate from the one where we inhabit... what we call the universe or spacetime continuum. Don't try to put the concept within a physical, concrete framework.

8. I haven't had the pleasure though I hear it's possible.

9. I've been reading Robert Peterson's books and I have read that he got psychic abilities and an inner voice that talks to him after he started having OBEs. Is it common to gain new abilities after you start having OBEs? Are these abilities good?

10. In Robert Peterson's books he also talks about how it seems like falls out of his body when he trips on something but then he is pulled back into his body quickly. Does your body and your conscious become less connected after you have an OBE?

I've had nothing as major as Robert Peterson, but I have noticed a few small things (developed intuition, can see auras, precognitive dreams, etc.).

I've not had that experience.

I really want to get Monroe's book but it's not like I can just ask my parents to get it for me because they'll think I'm crazy. I need to figure out another way to get the book. I guess if I can't find any other way to get the book I'll have to ask my dad to bring me to get it because he believes in this kind of stuff (and he's interested in it) a little more than my mom.

Thanks for the help btw.

11. When you are seeing/on a planet when you are in an OBE are you on the actual planet or is it just something that you mind makes up?

12. When you are new to OBEs is it hard to stay in them (are you pulled back into your body often?)? If it is does it get easier to stay in them if you practice more?

13. When you start inducing OBEs do you start having them naturally (waking up out of your body even though you didn't induce an OBE)?

11. depends on the individual experience, I'm thinking that practicing remote viewing would help, but sometimes you just "know that you know" it's real. Some would call it "absolute knowledge" or a pure kind of knowing.

12. Yes, & yes.

13. Yes. I think of them as "aftershocks"- once I attained the vibrations conciously, things just kinda start to happen on there own sometimes.

13. When I feel the vibrations how do I know when I can separate from my body?

14. How do I move in my astral body? Do I think about moving or do I move how I normally would?

15. Should I open my eyes when I'm in my astral body or will that make me go back into my physical body?

1. How is an OBE different from a lucid dream (which I also want to learn about  :-D)

Good question. During an OBE, one is aware of the fact that he or she is outside of his or her body or is observing their surroundings from a different perspective. One knows that the experience is real and not a dream.

During a Lucid Dream, one is aware of the fact that he or she is in a dream. One is in an imaginary world created by his or her subconscious.

2. What is it like to be in an OBE? (Is it different for every person?)

You feel just as you do in the Physical Body but you know you're not. It's really cool to be free from the limitations of the Physical Body.

3. What can you do in an OBE?

From what I've experienced, it seems like they're no limits as to what you can do whilst out-of-body.

4. How do I go into an OBE (I'm sure there are some topics on that subject in this forum)?

Lets see...I would say to practice meditation first and get use to being in the trance state...

5. Should I learn how to have a lucid dream before I learn how to have an OBE?

Well, it probably is easier to have a Lucid Dream since all you have to do is become aware that you're dreaming. Although it's more easy for some than others. Once in a Lucid Dream, you can easily go OOB and you'll be able to tell the difference between an LD and an OBE (because you'll have them one after the other).

7. What is the astral realm? Is it just when you're on earth but out of your body or is it a totally different place?

The Astral Plane is also known as the emotional plane because your emotions and thoughts are what influence the environment and what you experience. This is where your desires can truly become reality. You're able to manifest whatever it is that you think of or intend to see.

8. Can you meet other people that or having OBEs in the astral realm?

Yes, you can meet others that are also OOB. However, I cannot confirm definitively whether or not I have done so though.

9. I've been reading Robert Peterson's books and I have read that he got psychic abilities and an inner voice that talks to him after he started having OBEs. Is it common to gain new abilities after you start having OBEs? Are these abilities good?

Yes, when one becomes more aware of other realities and works with things that are energy-related, one may begin to notice an increase in their psychic abilities. The abilities you have obtained are good if you use them in a positive way.

10. In Robert Peterson's books he also talks about how it seems like falls out of his body when he trips on something but then he is pulled back into his body quickly. Does your body and your conscious become less connected after you have an OBE?

If you mean whether or not one becomes more detached from their Physical Body, then I would say "yes".

11. When you are seeing/on a planet when you are in an OBE are you on the actual planet or is it just something that you mind makes up?

That depends...if you remain focused while traveling and you don't imagine or expect anything, then you should be on/see the real planet.

12. When you are new to OBEs is it hard to stay in them (are you pulled back into your body often?)? If it is does it get easier to stay in them if you practice more?

When you're are just starting, you'll probably have a hard time staying out long and staying focused/calm. It definitely gets easier the more you practice/project.

Quote from: Pyro21 on April 26, 2009, 11:36:47
13. When you start inducing OBEs do you start having them naturally (waking up out of your body even though you didn't induce an OBE)?

Yes, if the desire to be/go OOB is strong enough. This happens to me alot.

Quote from: Pyro21 on April 27, 2009, 19:24:23
13. When I feel the vibrations how do I know when I can separate from my body?

Well, you would reach a point where you will automatically seperate from your body due to the intensity of the vibrations. If you don't automatically seperate, once your body is vibrating intensely, try an exit technique.

Quote from: Pyro21 on April 27, 2009, 19:24:23
14. How do I move in my astral body? Do I think about moving or do I move how I normally would?

Actually, you're able to walk/run as one does in the Physical or you can move by thought alone.

15. Should I open my eyes when I'm in my astral body or will that make me go back into my physical body?

Just believe and know that they're already open. Say something like, "I can see clearly" if you're having problems seeing.
