K I getting kinda frustrated here I just try and relax to try and induce an OBE but it seems when I try to relax my heart goes faster??!?!? can anyone suggest some deadcert relaxation techniques that would calm down even the most hyper of people? hehe.

Try doing it at night or in the morning or whenever you're more tired. seems like you're too awake when you trying. If you can feel your heartbeat and it's too distracting, try using that as a means to help you. Pretend it's raising your energy or whatever. (it's helped me. I'm quite skinny and i've had that too).  You could also try taking deeper breaths at first, until your relaxed. Then it's best to take your mind off everything, including conscious breathing. If your mind is blank, your body will have no choice but to go into relaxation mode. Eventually your brain will send a signal to your body, and you will get a strong urge to roll over or move somehow. This is a test to see if your still awake. If you're unresponsive, your mind will disconnect from your body, thus causing sleep paralysis. Then you just need to try not to pass out. hope this helps.

To expand on what Envix said, if you get to sleep paralysis the next step will be to stay calm and will yourself into your real time or astral body or beyond. Most people tend to panic or sense an evil presence and try to wake up. Remember what your goal is.

One word.... Trazodone. (just kidding). Some people just try to clear their head, or perhaps find some kind of visualization that helps them relax. I wouldn't know what to tell you though, relaxing can be hard but I've never had a problem where my heart beat becomes more rapid. It's only happened once to me and that had nothing to do with anything other than just worrying about what I was doing at the time. I'm sure it's a stage everyone goes through though, fear.

K so does it not matter if your heart is going fast or not?

If your heart is going fast then you are not relaxed. I start my relaxation process with 3 slow breaths, holding the last one in for about 10 or 15 seconds, then letting each slow breath after that take me down a little further. This seems to slow down my heart rate to a relaxed pace. For me, relaxed isn't just laying still, it feels good and relaxing.

could be his heart chakra and not actually his physical heart that is beating so fast.  I mention as a similar thing has happened to me.  At first i thought it was my physical heart but when i "woke up" my heart was fine and there was no evidence it had been beating like a maniac.  It can be a little unsettling unless your sure of what it is.  I think next time it beats fast try to use it to raise your energy and encourage the heart beating - let it reverbate throughout your entire being.

The heart thing happened to me too when I first started trying to project back in December. I think it was because I was trying to hard and was not deeply relaxed. That stage lasted about a week and it never happened again.

I listen to binaural beats to relax most of the time, and I turn a box fan on high to drown out all distractions except my 3 year old that likes to kick me in my sleep.
