My question is:
What are the differences between Lucid Dreaming and Astral Projection?

I have been looking into Astral Projecting for just over a year now, but can only get as far as the vibrations. Now that is enough to convince me that are the stories aren't fake, and have some element of truth to them.
What looking into Astral Projection, and reading some experiences people have had, I realise that they all have similar aspects: Being able to See and hear etc. One of the topics on these forums pertained some information that I found quite interesting: While astral projecting, you are in third person. That is something that I find that really cool. But then I thought, does this happen while you're Lucid Dreaming too?

I haven't read much about Lucid Dreaming, all I know is that it is a clear dream and that you can conjure up any scenario, which you can also do in the Astral realm: or so people say.

So if you guys could help me out, I'd love to hear the differences, or even the similarities between Astral Projecting and Lucid Dreaming.

I'd really love to hear your guys views and thoughts on this.

Hi,

You should read Astral Dynamics. It answers your questions. Basically you have many different bodies. You're physical body, your subtle body (chakras etc), your real time body, your astral body, and then possibly an infinite number of bodies beyond that.

It's stated in the book that when you lucid dream you're in your subconscious and then become aware you're asleep in your physical mind which means your consciousness has not left your physical body. Now on the other hand when you project a mind split occurs and your consciousness shifts to a body outside of you physical and subtle body which never part from each other more than a few feet. Normally when this happens your realtime body or beyond inherits all of the memories from the physical brain and then starts recording info as a separate entity at this point and your physical body will know nothing of these memories unless your realtime body or beyond successfully downloads the new memories to your physical brain when you reintegrate with your physical body.

The difference here is that when you lucid dream you are still in your physical body "dreaming" and when you astral project you become a separate entity with it's own method of memory storage.

This is just a theory and be no means should you take my word for it and call it he truth because I doubt anyone that's around you really knows for sure. Read many different sources and ask many questions and have fun. Beware of people who tell you they know something as fact rather than opinion.

For me, it is simply a matter of me knowing that when I am in a lucid dream, I am dreaming.  And when I am in an OOBE. I know I am still awake.  Usually in my OOBEs I have a continual sense of being consciously awake as the experience begins, and this feeling stays with me.  In the lucid dream, I know I have been dreaming and that I am becoming consciously aware that I am dreaming.
