It worked for me, but broke after a few months. Got me started in lucid dreaming though...

Panthau

what do you mean by "broke"? did u stopped using it or does it stopped
working for you?

nickspry

One of the buttons broke off. It seemed to be fairly well built though, and considering I bought it used from Ebay I can't complain too much. It gave me many lucid dreams so I reckon it paid for itself a few times over.

there's a lady (astralvoyage.com) who used it and had 5 OBE's in a row.  but she's also been studying ap for some time  :| Nevertheless I imagine the mask can certainly be an aid to begin leaving the body

QuoteWell, for only $299 you can now see your own dreams come true—and you'll be right in the middle of all the action—3D and live!

$299?!

I´ve seen it now for less then 300$, for example this one here is promising (with pc interface and
a voice telling you that you´re not in a dream): http://www.remdreamer.com/
Its 147€, free shipping. 197€ with the pc interface....i think im gonna buy that one.

If these things really worked, the answer to every help question would be "get a lucid dreaming mask". I wish it were that easy. I use to recommend hemi-sync a lot, but all technological help is very minor. Practicing mental techniques & exercises (while on-going, slow, and sometimes boring) have been much more helpful in my life. And it sticks with you like riding a bike. YOU still have to do it in the end.

For those that say things like "I'm not good at concentrating", practice and get good at it. It's a skill that can be learned.

Panthau

Im meditating since a year now, every day for about 40mins. I think
my concentration hasnt got better at all, i just learned to focus on
me and stay calm...but i cant hold that focus longer then i could before.

Maybe my brain is damaged in some way... lol

I have been studying this device since you first posted this about a week ago. Coincidentally, it is related to the other project i am working on, using LED glasses to reach and maintain the theta brainwave state.

The Lucid Dream Machine is a mask that you wear while you are sleeping. About 4 hours into your sleep the AVR microcontroller pulses low sound waves and LEDs that shine through your eyelids. This half wakes you up. The flashing lights helps you become aware (in your sleep) that your are sleeping and dreaming, in doing so you become more likely to be able to control your dreams

The total cost of the circuits are about $15 and I have already written the software program. I will use dark color LEDs such as blue and experiment with different pulse patterns and frequencies. I will also add a simple square wave generator circuit to output 5-20 hertz. They say you can also use a pre-programmed audio message with your suggestions or affirmations.

I'll post a picture of my dream mask on here when it's done.

Here is the forum for those who are interested in reading others who have tried this device for lucid dreaming.

The end of that video had me cracking up. "You can now have your very own lsd trips without drugs." Anyway using a "lucid dream mask" does not guarantee you to have lucid dreams. It is about the same thing as training yourself to notice incongruities to realize you are dreaming. Like noticing something that is impossible in real life...etc. The problem with this is that your reasoning/logic is asleep so a lot of things that would seem stupid/crazy/impossible all seem perfectly normal and natural to your dreaming self, which makes you not question a thing during the dream. Also a common problem is that in your dream anything that happens outside of your dream in physical reality would be incorporated into your dream by your mind. For instance if you leave a television on and you are dreaming your mind might incorporate a commercial or part of a show into your dream, or even mold your dream around it. So when the light cue goes off while you are dreaming your mind will incorporate it into your dream, like for instance making a police car or ambulance show up in your dream. It would still be up to your logical part of the mind [which is at rest] to figure it out. So that would be just as good as training yourself to notice incongruities, maybe a little better but still about the same.

I think it allot better to be able to do it yourself without the aid of technology, personally all those sound things never helped me, it was just my will and my knowledge I gained from here that has helped me.
Do by not Doing.

True, but the mask is really useful for people who have been trying to learn for a long time with no results. It can help you to prove to yourself that you are capable of lucid dreaming, which is a big psychological barrier to cross for some people. The confidence which that gives you makes induction by traditional methods much easier to acheive.
It does require some work to recognise and respond to the lights. It's a similar mental process to learning to recognise dreamsigns (but easier), so it helps to discipline the mind to become alert in the dreamstate, which helps in turn with other induction techniques such as the MILD method.
