Re-occuring Dream - Foot Pierced by Serrated Blades

I had a dream that was similar to a series of dreams I've had previously. My memory of the dream itself is rather poor at best, however, I've managed to recall this much at least. I recall withdrawing long, thin serrated blade like objects (two blades, approximately 25cm-30cm) that were embedded in my feet. No pain was felt while withdrawing the blades. A total of two were withdrawn to my knowledge, and they were not right after the other ie. one blade was withdrawn, then the dream continued and later on another blade or sharp object was withdrawn.

The dreams I've had before that are similar to this particular dream usually revolve around me having sharp objects somehow embedded in my feet. The frequency of these dreams is low, probably only a few times spaced over several years, perhaps. The objects have changed, ranging from hypodermic needles (confirmed) to shards of glass (hazy).

I apologise for the poor recollection, however, I would like to see what the good people here at The Pulse have to say on the matter of this particular re-occuring dream. Thank you for reading, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas.

Well, I look at recurring dreams not as a sign as such but as something that you should consult with yourself. What could this mean? Okay it' sounds a bit like I sign but thats not what I'm aiming for...I mean, looking at it in a way as..."Do I keep having this dream because I walk past a blade shop everyday?" Or logical sorta questions :)

Dreams are just our minds darting around and us not being able to stop it manifest anything it wishes.

Do you recall which foot?

I believe it was the left foot. Not 100% accurate on that unfortunately, but because of the angle I was removing the blade (I was pulling it out to the right I believe) I am assuming it was the left foot. I am left handed by the way.

So in saying that 'dreams are just our minds darting around and us not being able to stop it manifest anything it wishes', would you say that you can coherently confirm that all dreams bear no symbolism to waking life or the inherent psychological posture of the dreamer? I agree that dreams can at times bear no symbolism to waking life, however, usually when recurring dreams share a pattern, it's a little different to your average run-of-the-mill dreams. We're postulating here that there is a possibility that dreams incur symbolism which establishes a connection to waking life in some form or another, especially re-occuring dreams that share a common theme ie. standing on sharp objects, naked in public/school, fighting/running in slow motion etc, teeth falling out, etc.

Considering the statement, "Do I keep having this dream because I walk past a blade shop everyday?" We could assume that items, places and people who I share a regularity with ie. Catching the train everyday, brushing my teeth etc. should be more prevailant throughout my dreams. But they're not. Not for me at least. These logical questions have already been asked, and the option and possibility of that which you've mentioned does still remain. However, seeing as this is a dream forum which is open to dream interpretation, I feel like exploring all avenues, and would love to hear from someone who can contribute something which has not already been brought to my attention.

I'd say you should probably get some of those gel-pads you put in your shoes  :-P

Seriously, don't even listen to me, I'm just here to add humor  :-D

More than likely you had this dream once and it subconsciously traumatised you due to it's violence.

I see no symbolism whatsoever, unless there's some being out there trying to warn you that you're going to have something sharp go through you foot some time soon. That, or you're going to be in danger. Iuno.

It may be a bit simple but this is what I found in the dreamdictionnary.

QuoteBlade

To see a blade in your dream, suggests that you are making some difficult and important decisions. You need to be able to make clear distinctions between your choices. It also indicates that you are walking on a thin line and need to balance aspects of your life carefully.

QuoteFoot

To dream that you injured or hurt your foot, signifies a lack of progress, freedom, and independence. Alternatively, the dream may suggests that you have taken a step in the wrong direction. In particular, to dream that your foot gets cut by glass, then it indicates passivity.  You are hesitant or reluctant in taking the first step toward a goal or decision.

The dream was not violent in anyway whatsoever. No pain, no fear, no danger. I've had multiple dreams - as stated previously - involving walking or stepping on sharp objects that become embedded in my foot, after which I remove them, none of which I've found traumatic in the slightest. I've actually taken a look at a few dream interpretations regarding a) blades, b) feet, c) stabbing, d) puncture, e) wounds, f) stepping on sharp objects and g) removal of sharp objects. I have already collected a multitude of symbolism found through books and internet references and listed them in order of relevance, so I find it strange you've been unable to find any symbolism whatsoever. As for a being trying to warn me of a literal impailment of the foot, I'm not too sure about that, but I'll take it on board nonetheless. Dreams usually differ meaning in a roundabout way through the subconscious, ie. A re-occuring dream of being naked in public is usually not seen as a premonition of your exposed genitalia in the breezeway at lunchtime  :-D. But I don't really need to explain the symbolism behind that now do I. Or do I?  :-P

Thank you Timandra, your input is greatly appreciated.

Feet are also a highly sexual thing, blades - possibly hurt/abandonment/betrayal in that case. That's what I felt when I read this.
