Im restarting form the begining

after more than a year of fruitless effort and reading everything that was available on the subject I'm just confused. I don't even remember how to do an OBE my head just hurts from all the techniques and theories and so on. Can someone help me out with this? How do you have your obe's? what do you do? I'm starting from the beginning What should i do to have an obe?

note that what's below works for me.Other more experienced people might disagree with me with good reasons, but anyway...Sadly, I don't do any energy work, or meditation, so maybe you could get faster and better results by regular practicing energy stimulation and all the other.

try this on weekend mornings.Let's say you sleeped for 8 hours.Don't get out of bed and try to see if you can fall asleep again.If you can't then:
-tell your familly members you want to "sleep" so they don't disturb you
-make your bed as comfortable as you can get.Meaning that you get as many pillows as you can.Your head should at least make a 45  degress angle with your bed.
-now all you have to do is to stay STILL!! meaning that you don't move a muscle, not even for a single imoment.You might get the sensation after 5 minutes that there are insects crawling in your hair, face.Don't move.You can swallow at this stage but try to stop the reflex as much as you can.
-now let your thoughts run as free as you can.Most books tell you that you must empty your mind but I found this unsuccesfull.Imgine anything you can, mostly ordinary things:talking with people, doing sports, driving, etc.Try to go with the flow and don't focus on anything.Sometimes you can watch the darkness of your eyelids, usually color patterns will apear.
-after some time it will start to get boring and you will feel the urge to move.don't be unpatient, I usually need 40-50 mintues to reach the trance state.
-after 15, even 35 minutes, you will enter a slight trance and a certain weight will be felt.Try to slow your breathing so that you maintain it
-currents from the back of your spine, heart or throat will start to appear.
-the suddendly, while you lay there wondering when the hell will something actually interesting happen a pressure will apear between your eyes( at least that's for me). Just noticing that presure will send your body in the all desired vibrational state.When entering it you will feel like floating, going up,or sometimes like you are diving, falling in nothingness.
-if the vibrations just go with nothing interesting hapening after them, quicly try to focus again on the spot from wich the vibrations started and they will apear with much more power
-aply the exit tecnique that suits you and there you go.

This worked for me after 2 weeks of nothing special ever happening and I was getting the feeling that I hit a dead end.The trick is to lay stil, even when all seems useless, boring, or your muscles and eyelids just scream to use them.View the entire process as a way to relax your mind and body.

I can't claim to be able to have OBEs at will, in fact I do think I have a lot of them in my meditations however there seems to be a mechanism in me that makes me unable to remember any of them!

For example yesterday I had a meditation session where I, again pretty much blacked out.

When I came to waking consciousness I jokingly said to someone something I don't quite remember, must've been something like "Hey, how are you doin? (Even tho you don't think I see you, I am aware that you are there!)"
The next moment I realized that noone physical is near me and that my mom is in the next room.

I then realized that what I had just said must have been directed at a non-physical being that I had encountered while I was out of body and that I must be unable to remember what happened in my out-of-body travel.

Anyways, let's get to the point.

Remember letting go completly from all attachments incl. fears while finding yourself in a fully physically relaxed position and you should soon find yourself out of body.
Don't try to make out a technique in your mind, just let go and let it happen! Learn from what works for you.
OBE is a pretty metaphysically-mechanical process so it should go automatically but remember to ignore exit sensations because they can easily spoil it.

I think process & progression is mostly an illusion.
Every day we're restarting outselves, with only an imprint of the last day's programming in mind, just like with reincarnation.

Sometimes I will 'black out' during astral projection attempts and then wake up 20-30 minutes later not remembering a thing. It can be pretty frustrating I agree. Nevertheless, each day I continue to practice and it does seem that my energy level raises after each day. When I was younger I was into bodybuilding and would go to the gym everyday and always push the weights to my limit. I studied the sport in dept and learned how each muscle group works and is affected by the different exercises, how much rest and food you should get and how often you should train. I got the results in 3 years that people would normally receive in 10, because I constantly pushed myself to the limit every day.

The same thing applies to energy body development, in fact it's exactly the same thing. If you are serious about it, then learn everything you can about the techniques and exercises. Learn what to eat, when to rest, how your energy body functions, how primary energy centers work, where energy storage centers are, and then focus on the techniques and exercises to improve the performance of your energy body. Never stop learning and always push yourself every day.

I think many skip this and want to get straight out. Take several weeks to become proficient in deep relaxation. Enjoy being relaxed. Don't move on until you feel you're good at this. Trance is step 2...

I'll definitely second this suggestion.  :)

"Relaxation" is actually something really hard for most people to do.
When you're lying there and you *think* you're relaxed... you're probably not.  Focus around your body and see if you can any points on you which are bundled up in stress.  The main areas are your head, neck and shoulders... these three spots generally contain the most stress and require the most relaxation focused on.

Like right now, I can focus on my head and feel it all tight and stuff... now, just by focusing on that tightness I can will it to relax and feel that tension release.

It's hard to recommend a particular technique for trance because everyone seems to respond differently. Keeping your thoughts concentrated and focusing on breath helps for some. Visualization helps for some. The main thing is to quiet your thinking and body responses so you can enter the hypnogogic stage. I really like "noticing". Here's Frank's explanation:

But now there has been a "phase shift" i.e. a turning through 180 degrees. Now, my previous foreground (physical) is my background, and my previous background (non-physical) is my foreground.

You've probably read it before, but I'm going to recommend it anyways. It might not be exactly what you had in mind, but I think it's a good overview of the entire process, even if you don't plan on "phasing".

Crazy. Just tried you're technique of tilting my head 45 degrees, and got instant results. Awesome. Gonna continue trying. Thanks.
