Why does it seem so darn difficult to have them?

About 2 years ago i got interested in the whole topic of astral travel. I was very very skeptical at the time, and yet i decided to investigate, read a few books and take an online course

Results 6 months later were nothing, i literally tried every night at different times of the night under different tiredness, sometimes not tired at all, sometimes when i would awake in the morning and was relaxed through to really tired at night.

I gave up.. and stopped reading about it all.

I thought people were either

A. On drugs
B. Just talking about regular dreams
C. Just new age hippies
D. Making it all up

One night i went to bed, woke up had some regular tea and then went back to bed around 4am, im not sure how long later it happened but I awoke to find myself a feet away from my ceiling, i kid you not i know it was the ceiling as i saw the fan, i also saw a bright light, like a window of light, i felt extremely fearful and boom i was back in my body

not sure how long later but i awoke again this time i was still in my body but paralysed, i knew my eyes were closed but i could see the room and i could hear this loud buzzing in my ears. Having read in many books about this buzzing I said.. this is it... so i willed my arm to lift and it lifted then i passed out as i felt fearful again as if something was there with me.

Since then I have tried many times to have this again but its been years and nothing.. Ive tried every method under the sun including just franks kepples noticing.. nothing. I usually just pass out and dream like usual

Can anyone advise me of 2 things

1. How often do people who travel frequently have it occur? can you do it on que, every night?

2. Please would you share your process with me on how you do it maybe i am missing something

There are many variables that go into conscious-astral projection. It takes a lot of practice to be able to raise your energy to the proper level and then you have to learn to breathe properly and then enter and stay in the trance state. All of this must occur on the edge of sleep and wakefulness (the trance state), you must remain completely relaxed while your body fills with strange new sensations while you stay focused on everything around you. Don't tense up. Keep your mind clear at all times. Move your eyes to your brow center. Focus on the exit technique. Don't fall asleep. The list seems endless, but you'll get the hang of it with practice.

Without the help of some kind of assistive technology I don't think many people can do it on que.

I wasn't trying to go out of body, I was just practicing yoga as usual--- a combination of light and sound is what worked for me.  Tratak (conscious gazing), first on a candle flame and then on the sun(set); a culminating practice of many years.  And binaural beats, brainwave entrainment.  The latter is most helpful if you are able to surrender and merge fully in the sound -otherwise it is just noise.  This combination triggered kundalini, when it began rising the force of the energy began pulling me out..  OBEs are just the beginning . .

A misquote I pray! :-D

Yes, it is indeed a balancing act.  I think some of us are luckier about being aware of that state, while others have a harder time, but in the end if you want to have a meaningful experience it takes a lot of practice.  I have always been susceptible to the vibrational state, but so far my OBEs haven't been very controlled...still working on that one!

BTW, I never was a hippie, and during my periods of drug use (long ago) I NEVER had an OBE or vibrations.

thanks

as for vibrations

Do you get them before your paralyzed or after?

I get some form of vibrations that occur before and them seem to come from the center of my gut, then it feels almost like a pulling sensastion from the middle of my gut upwards.

As for me, I always go through a black out before getting the vibrations...then I wake up into that state.  Before going that deep I feel all kinds of "physical" sensations, including numbness, pulling, falling, heaviness, floating, and yes, even some vibrations.  The vibrations felt in the SP state are quite different in my experience, not something I can control.  I just let them flow through me from my head to my toes - very enjoyable actually.  Prior to going into the full vibrational state I can move my body at will, however upon entering, I cannot physically move, but my projected body is all over the place, sometimes being pulled, sometimes rolling, and often just flopping around like a beached fish!

You begin to get the vibrations as soon as your in Sleep paralysis. Or you can do the exit technique when your at 3D blackness(Your vision is a black 3D 360 Degree view)

You can stay either awake till sleep paralysis occurrence's or you can wake up in sleep paralysis.

Hope this helped.

I have been exploring consciousness with limited success for about a year now. I am making progress and I think the key is being able to properly meditate and clear the mind of thoughts. I was in a period of no activity for months and then I started meditating and became active again. Keep in mind that the normal physical state is a thinking brain that will not shut up.

You know, maybe the physical experience has us isolated from our source for a reason. :). It wouldn't mean much being physical if we all knew we were fundamentally not physical. So maybe we make is hard on ourselves as a "protection" mechanism.

I just finished reading Thomas Campbells books and he thinks the key is to purge ego and fear from your life. Eckhart Tolle says that you eliminate ego and fear by living totally in the present moment and drawing from past and future only when needed for practical reasons.

There are so many texts available that point to a truth, get out there are explore.

"Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand."
