Okay I have a question.
Sometimes in the morning or at night just sometimes whenever I randomly wake up I'll have this feeling like a buzzing in my head and my ears. And it will come in pulses too. Almost like an energy surging or something. I don't know how to explain it.

I've actually experienced this all my life. This morning I woke up and I had this experience and while I was having it I tried to leave my body and to my surprise I was able to detach my legs, arms, and lower body, but my head was stuck and I wasn't able to get it out.

I've experienced vibrations only 2 times and it felt different to me then this. The vibrations I've had were smooth and constant and I could control them and make them flow through out my entire body.

These sharp pulsating buzzes are just in my ears and head. Are these some type of vibrations?
Thanks

Xanth

I get it too. Although it only ever really happens after I've meditated and my mind is clear. It's not unbearable nor annoying, it's just something that's there.

I wouldn't say I'm very concious when this happens either. This morning when I woke up after everything I had to actaully think about it and try and remember if it really happend of not.

so it's not like I wake up with this crazy thing going on and I'm completely aware of it

thanks xanth, but I'm pretty sure it's not that as that sound is usually ALWAYS there. I had a teacher who had it, and he said he wouldn't even notice it was there until it got quiet or someone reminded him of it.

That is usually just a small ringing sound in the ear.

I really wish I could explain what this sensation is, but it's almost impossible lol.

Does it pulsate at the same rate as your heart?

No, pretty sure it doesn't. I wouldn't say it has a consistant "pulse" either. It just comes and goes for a few seconds until I start waking up and becoming aware then it's done.
I have never ever felt this when I was concious and awake throughout my day. I've only gotten it like I said a few times either in the middle of the night or early morning. Not even really when I'm waking up, it's more of maybe I hear someone in my house and it just grabs my attention for a minute and I become aware for only a few seconds then I'm passed out again haha

The reason I ask is that I have experienced this noise (or a noise like that).  See if this sounds familiar:
I'll be dreaming of listening to 'angelic music' something that sounds sublime, like organ music but beautiful.  As I wake the music resolves into this pulsating whirrr, that slowly goes down in volume, until it goes away.
That's how I've experienced this type of sound, but after much observation, I've noticed it is the frequency of the 'inner sound', which sometimes changes and pulsates.  Sometimes though, it is the sound of blood rushing in my ears, if I'm lying in just the "right" position.  And louder in the liminal state.

Hmm the blood rushing sounds like an idea, but how loud is it? Because to me it seems pretty loud and it's like I can almost feel it. I honestly can't explain what it is. I don't think it's anything bad though as I've experienced it a few times over a couple of years even before I got into AP.
Just seemed like a normal thing my body would do sometimes at night.

But thsi morning since I was able to get a partial seperation while i having this experience I figured maybe it was related to vibrations, but maybe it was just a coincedence this was happening while my body was in the right state to leave.

I experiment with high frequency equipment all the time and it can sound like loud buzzing or humming in your head and even throughout your entire body.

Check around to see if there are any Refrigerators / TVs / Computers / etc. giving off any Electromagnetic fields.

It's probably the vibrations of a different degree. When I experience vibrations it's only centered in my head and part of my spine, thats it. I can control it as well when it comes to intensity but thats about it, when they are at their peak separation is forced no matter if I want to separate or not it just happens. Even when Im not practicing to separate I will get the vibrations in the head upon relaxing, going to sleep, and waking up just like you described. Everything about the vibrations I experience you described to a T, even the pulsating nature of them. You'll get a twinge in the head (middle back) then it passes, a second later a stronger one it fades out, then comes in stronger..etc. As it picks up and you get it you will notice if you listen closely a droning sound that accompanies the waves of this vibration. If you cant figure out how to control it when it hits you like this, just ignore them and they will get stronger as long as you dont focus on them. If you do they have a tendency to fade. It's interesting you experience vibrations another way, this is the only way I experience them... and even as mine are just centered in the head like they are it is a massive help to separation. Also a key hint that I can separate at that point. Good luck.

Sometimes it sounds like a crickets to me...

thanks for the replies. Kurt what do you mean you experiment with high frequency equipment? My labtop was on and next to my bed all night, but I've also experienced this before and my labtop wasn't next to me, but still in my room.

Frequencies generated by arbitrary function generators that are in the MHz range. Electronics can be unpredictable and generate large electromagnetic fields. These fields can have strange effects on the energy body.
