I just tried to project like 5 min ago. I reclined in my chair for almost an hour. I had ear plugs in. I relaxed for awhile by breathing in and out and kept doing that, thinking of what im going to do when i project, like finding my guide, discovering knowlage, flying, seeing different worlds things like that. I got to a point when i seen red swirls behind my closed eyes, blue flashes and yellow arrows moved about as well. Than it felt as though instead of my 2 arms resting on the chair arms the were above me with all of my finger tips touching. but i couldnt see this only feel this. I could feel tiny muscle spasms in random muscles around my body. I try to visualize floatin out of my body, i try to feel it, see it and hear it, become my inner self. I try to float i try so hard, i know it will be good for me i know im ready, i just cant picture seeing myself sleeping or even floating towards my ceiling And once and awhile my brain would wonder and i'd think about different events that have happened over my life, when i realize im thinking about these i kind of get a really big jolt of energy through my body which feels really good, then the thoughts subside and i see the colors again. if anyone could help tell me what im doing wrong or any helpful tips i would greatly appreciate it:) thanks

You're on the right track, but you still need time to learn and practice more. You can't have any thoughts. You can't think about your physical body. If you are still feeling muscle spasms, you arn't close to leaving your body.
You have to actually let your body fall asleep.
My best advise is to try it in the morning after a nights sleep, right after waking up, or while you're waking up for the first time. This is the best time for me and many other people too.

Just read as much as you can and fill your mind with information

ok thank you. I'm just a little confused on how im supposed to think about nothing but yet visualize myself floating out when that point comes.  :|

Have you ever swam underwater and then let yourself float up, effortlessly?  This is not visualization, this is recreation of a feeling.
You can have  a blank mind, or listen to your earhiss, and still bring up this  feeling (of going up or down) without visualizing.  Or thinking verbally.

yea your right on the virge of projecting out.. The first time I saw some yellow but mostly white light pulsing under my eye lids and i heard this high pitch tone in my ear almost deafning then whshushoooooPOP sound in my ears and silence  i was all of a sudden floating over my body. I couldnt see my body cause i was like an inch away from my ceiling. I turned my head to the right very slowly and say my bureau and my mirror i tried to move but i was frozen in that position. I was filled with  OMYGODDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD I did it. It was like this is unreal and its 100% not a dream u will be 100% aware of whats going on!. The one thing that I diddnt understand was that I heard sounds all around me. like whispering and I felt like someone was watching me but I wasn't scared it wasnt a scary feeling just a slightly nervous feeling. I slowly started moving closer and closer to the ceiling and I started to go through it and WHAMMM Im back in my body. I think going through the ceiling got me so nervous that I popped back in. After that I went right to bed and I was so happy because I did it!
It sounds like you are getting so excited that you are preventing yourself from popping out. Just role with it, don't think about it just keep on doing what you're doing. When you see the colors just keep on breathing slowly, relax and let whatever happens happen. Don't think about what if just be in the now!
I Hope 1st time story helps.   Take care my friend.

so if i keep a blank mind for a long enough time and just focus on my breathing and watching the void eventually ill just pop out? i always thought you had to see it with your mind. thanks for the help to you guys though

I have never induced an OBE from an awake state. All of my experiences have taken place in the monrning while waking up as I stated earlier.

What you said about keeping a blank mind and waiting long enough you'll eventualy pop out. Well you can try, but I don't think you would. I am not trying to bring you down at all lol just trying to help.
The way I see it and was taught is that if you are lying in bed trying to induce an OBE and you relax, do breathing exercises, focus on the blackness behind your closed eyes, etc. you and your mind will be too caught up in the physical to forget about your original intention.. of getting out of the body. And the only way to get out of the body is to let it fall asleep. So by doing all of these things sometimes it can actually prevent you from going further.

When I first started out I read A LOT. I was always on the forums and I picked up robert monroes book Journeys out of the body. I think expanding your knowledge on the subject is the best thing you can do.
And practice too, like I said your on the right track and you're doing good by practicing, I still look forward to getting OOB every night, but usually it doesn't happen that often haha, but I still go to bed with the intentions of going out.

Not necessarily.  If you do some sort of meditation (or energy work, or whatever) to get you to the trance state, and then do some sort of focusing exercise (like what you described) to deepen the trance and bring you to the mind awake body asleep state, and then you do some sort of exit technique (active or passive, depends) then you might be able to 'pop out'.  The tech you described is a passive technique, that works best when you're already having 'floaty' sensations.

Which is similar to what justin said.

Like Justin said the more you read, the easier it will become. I literally read every post in this forum as well as many books on astral projection and OBE's. After reading all that you begin to become familiar with what's possible and what's not. It also helps you open your mind to the endless possibilities out there.

Just a quick tip...
I sometimes try with earbuds as well, however, I find that they cause too much pressure around the ear.
It's enough to really throw me off... I prefer a loose fitting headset.

I don't understand what you're asking.
I'm just saying that using earbuds might be a distraction.  :)

When I listen to the gateway series I use my skull candy headset. It wraps around my head, but I have to make sure they're positioned right on my ears otherwise after 20 minutes or so it starts to hurt my left ear
