Hi all I was wondering what is your experience between phasing and other astral projection techniques? Is phasing much more easier to do than other techniques? What convinced me to try phasing is the
"The Frank Kepple Resource" at http://www.astralpulse.com/frankkepple.html
It just makes sense to me. It seems to me that phasing would work a better than some of the other AP techniques that I have tried in the past with minimal success. If you have any experience or thoughts on this I would love to hear it. Thanks.

I can provide you with my straight up experience in regards to Phasing.

The only point I really have to make is that I've been studying Astral Projection for roughly 10 years now... reading all of the, what I call "old world, classical OBE" stuff...
And after studying Phasing for the last 3 - 4 weeks now, I've made MORE progress in that short time than I have in these 10 years.

It's the best model and method that I've come across.

Wow I thought it was more effective but not that effective. That's mind blowing. I only tried phasing a little last night and I just know that it's got to work very well. I have tried other techniques but phasing just makes much more sense. Thanks for your input.

My post is pretty much a long version of what Xanth said, but if you want to read my experience(s) with phasing, here it is:

I practiced traditional OBE methods on and off for about four and a half years now. Through "traditional" OBE methods, I was able to reach hypnagogia (though I thought is was the beginning of an OBE, or even an OBE at the time) only a few times.

In the middle of December, 2009, I started reading this forum again and decided to start trying to have an OBE again. While clearing out my bookmarks, I came across the article to which you linked in the first post and I read it. For whatever reason it was the only thing on the subject that I really liked. After reading the article, I decided to try phasing.

The first few attempts were uneventful because I was too impatient and only gave it a few minutes. After those few attempts, I decided to really focus on what I was doing, and I completely lost awareness of my body. After one week I was able to reach hypnagogia whenever I really focused. For a few more weeks I had a problem with falling asleep during hypnagogia. About halfway through January, I decided to post about this and to ask a few questions about phasing, and Stookie told me about rundowns. I only gave rundowns a try or two, but it seemed like too much effort, so I gave up and went back to just noticing. Eventually I was able to reach Monroe's Focus 12. I was only able to reach F12 few times before I decided to take a week long break from phasing.

For about six weeks after I took that break, I wasn't able to reach trance for two reasons: one, I was trying to force something to happen and two, I was focusing too much on my body. When I finally realized that, I corrected myself and managed to begin reaching hypnagogia fairly regularly again. Until about two weeks ago, not much happened. Then, Xanth started talking about using rundowns in the IRC and he posted a few links to posts which Frank wrote about phasing and rundowns.

Because of what Xanth said in the IRC, I came up with a rundown involving Chichen Itza and the pyramid there. When I was practicing one morning, I began the rundown and after a few minutes, I stepped into the scene. Later that day, I was practicing again, and stepped into the scene for a second time. Since I started seriously doing rundowns, I have managed to step into the scene about six times.

TL;DR (and probably a better post):
I've made more progress in the last four (soon to be five) months with phasing than I have in 4 years with more "traditional" methods.

I think that it depends on your natural talents.
If you're a tactile person, I'd say do an OBE exit.
If you're a visual person, and/or meditate regularly, then phasing may be for you.

I'm a tactile person and have had spontaneous OBEs for years, and I used to phase very seldom.  Although I enjoy the feel of phasing, I'm just not good at it.

So I think it just depends.

Thanks for that input. Helps me put a prospective on it.

3588897, could you explain what you mean by "rundowns" please?

if you call your messiah frank, then phasing might be right for you

Both work good but overall I'd say phasing is easier and better. Councious projection is fun for validation experiments and the such. I learned councious projection years before I ever learned how to phase or even lucid dream though, which in my opinion was the hard way of doing things but in the long run, it has made both phasing and councious exit fairly easy and enjoyable. I usually rotate my training between them weekly.

I do a combination of phasing and traditional OBE exit techniques.

To be honest, from what I've read, much of the traditional OBE exit techniques are more similar to phasing than to Robert Bruce's tactile stuff.  Occult OBE stuff is mostly based on visualization.

I've been refraining from saying this because I like Xanth, but Frank just took old occult techniques and took the "mysticy" words out of it.  In frank's credit though, he did go much farther into Astral Theory, beyond the exit technique.

be awesome.

I agree with the last post of personalreality.
For twenty years I was successful with what is being called "traditional" here. Alot of meditation, trance and symbol scrying. I have just begun practicing again after about ten years of very little practice. I have been trying to learn the "phasing" method as I felt Frank was in touch with something that made sense. My results have been sketchy at best but I do not think it is because of the technique itself. I blame my lack of practice altogether. Best thing to do is pick something and stick with it. Xanths Frank pdf is vast and comprehensive and I have gleaned only what seems pertinent for myself. Don't get lost in the semantics, get lost in the practice - daily. I am just going to say that there is no such thing as "easier" any more than "harder". Pick what sounds most related to your own personal beliefs and go with it.

I read one of Frank's posts about phasing and it was enough to get me my first conscious exit
