My first mind split during an OBE, has anyone else done this?

Normally when I have an OBE it will be triggered from a dream, or either waking up in the early morning hours then dozing back off and the OBE happening almost immediately.   Regardless when the OBE happens I will suddenly awaken as I rise from my body seeing the ceiling getting closer, and then moving somewhere else in my house – as it happens I'm always viewing it no different than when physically awake,  through my own eyes of my own body (or out of body form).

However, last night when I had an OBE it was odd. The OBE still had all the normal initial physical departure sensations in the pit of my stomach, the sudden rush of excitement. But for some reason I could only describe it as if I was split into three fragments.

The physical sensations I felt were being felt through my own physical body, but I was visualising the experience from the side of the room in some form. I physically saw myself leave my body and I knew it was a weird exit. I must have been sleeping on my stomach and I left with my feet going first to the ceiling, and somehow flipping over to eventually end up standing upright. As soon as I flipped upright my awareness left from the position that I was observing from the side of the room and rejoined to my out of body form and I flew out of the house.

The point I'm raising is the disjointed spilt of vision, physical emotion, and control/movement somehow being experienced as one but knowing at the same time I was separated into multiple forms but only having physical control while in one of the forms.

Has anyone experienced this, if so:

- Are there multiple levels of our self during and OBE or maybe even AP?

- What 'form' or 'segment' would I label or categorise myself as when I was viewing myself exiting my physical body?

- Has anyone mastered thinking as one but from multiple selves, such as processing and viewing information from multiple splits? In my case last night it appeared I can only have intelligent thought or processing information from one occupied split, but I had the emotional experience or sensation of all three - To further explain, when reading this you're thinking and processing the information within your head, but if you suddenly saw a double of yourself on the other side of the room and then somehow jumped into your other self you're thinking would/may come along with you. After jumping into the split self you would then be able to visually see your other self you just left but the thinking ability would only be from the new occupied self. Has anyone had OBE or AP where they had multiple thought control of split selves? I only had the emotional or 'feel' factor of multiple splits, but not the physical thinking or possession of the multiple self.

Dear Alex-Anderson,

I wouldn't call them selves since they are really just dimensional vehicles, I'd call them seatable bodies/minds.

yes I believe you're right. You can be aware of multiple of your bodies operating at once however it seems to me that usually oneself will only seat one dimensional body-mind at a time and then the rest will be in auto-pilot.

Sorry I don't have an answer for you but I believe that the etheric double can easily be split two have two avatars at once. Movies and games have conditioned us to like to see our characters from the outside or behind so perhaps that caused you to create a second avatar watching your first.
While in the second you could've steered the first one like a remote control but this is simply speculation.

Another possibility I see is a telepathic link to another being, so you could've felt his/her emotions like yours and see from his/her astral eyes as if they were your own but of course not control him/her. This is usually how full telepathic contact is described, the energetic link establishes a oneness between the communicators.

I never really thought of your other suggestion - that I could be viewing it as an energetic link (i.e through someone elses eyes).. very interesting.

My problem is perhaps I'm thinking of the multi splits as a seperate entity or bodies. And how and what can be controlled or experienced in the various planes while in these multi shifts. It's to difficult to consider multi-simultaneous memory functionality without it happening in isolation of each other.

I've had this happen.  I knew I was....inside someones mind and body when he started moving around.  My body was moving right along with his, yet I wasn't doing the moving.  It was fun for a while because he was military and was moving around these buildings and it felt cool to actually feel like I knew what I was doing.   I also got many of his thoughts.  I think for years now, I've been pulled into a lot of different people's dreams, or lives from different planes, but of course I can never prove that.  It would be interesting to be able to though.  :-)

I think the phenomenon of consciousness is a lot more complex than we're used to accepting.  I'm not a fan of RB's Mind-Split effect, but I have experienced what he describes as Mind-Split.  I think that we're always simultaneously occupying various perspectives of our reality.  Under normal circumstances we're intently focused in "one", the 'normal' awareness of physicality.  Sometimes, especially when you start a spiritual practice, our focus here begins to loosen.  The result is the occasional feeling of being split.  I think it's entirely normal and natural, just unknown and even unexpected.

I've had this happen during AP, but I've also had it happen in my normal waking life.  In waking consciousness it seems to correspond with times that I'm intentionally putting myself in a psychically open state.  I've been doing a lot of psychic development lately so I've noticed it quite a bit.  I've had it happen a lot when I'm doing readings for people, I see the person but I also see myself from a perspective that is near the other person.  It's a bit freaky indeed.
be awesome.

Dual consciousness during an OBE is somewhat rare yet it does happen to people on occasion. I have had dual consciousness occur during 2 or 3 OBEs. Once or twice I was aware of the astral state of being out of body and also aware of being physical in a near sleep state. One time I had dual consciousness of an OBE and being in a dream. That experience was actually quite confusing. So while dual consciousness is uncommon it Does happen. However, I have yet to read a satisfactory explanation of why it takes place. Like many other aspects of OBEs it is mostly a mystery.

I don't think it's a "duel consciousness"... as much as you're just aware of two Focuses at the same time.
Frank always said that if you really wanted to confuse yourself, you could be aware of all four Focus levels at the same time.  LoL
I can only imagine.
