Pardon me but one more comment please...

It has been my experience that "guides" frown on substance use and may limit your exposure to the greater realm. But that is MY experience.
"Guides" don't judge.  :)

Psilibus

Not "judge", "frown". I have been "informed" that substance use will impede my progress. It is something for me to avoid. I may be alone in this perhaps. I prefer to treat my organics nicely anymore as it is. I appreciate the input though. Hope your having a great day!

"frown upon" is making a judgment on you.
That's saying that they disapprove... they neither approve nor disapprove of your actions.  :)

In my opinion, it *will* impede you... but only because when you're high you don't have the mental capacity to learn as well as if you were sober.
You all but lose the ability to question yourself and your surroundings.

You are a very practical poster. I specifically look for your posts in hopes to gain insight.

Yes I understand quite well what you are saying about the non judgmental aspect of guides however the experience I refer to was not judgmental, I was merely informed that the use of substances limited my abilities and would prevent the attainment of what I was looking for. I was "told" it would interfere with the energy and focus required. It was more as if I was being treated as if I were a child who did not know better. Upon taking that advice I have found I am progressing nicely.

Frown, judge. What are words anyway. You made your point and it is accepted. Thank you. Just say NO.

I do have a link, I took it from the Astral Pulse somewhere, posted by someone else not long ago.  :-)

you didn't offend me mushroom wo/man.  i said, IF i were capable of really being offended you would have offended me.

we're straight.  i just wanted to share my experience.

i do agree with you.  i'm a psych student, so we have a lot in common.  (almost done with undergrad though, it's a natural talent)

i can't imagine the way shamans use their brews to be frowned upon.  i mean it's a beautiful relationship they have with their plants.

but i can also understand your point.  maybe it specific to you.  probably me too.
be awesome.

I will say here that if persons are to speak from authority and experience on a forum such as this we are also responsible then for the influence we place on those with less experience. I would not want to be responsible for recommending a practice that might be detrimental to another. The taking of any substance by someone less informed may cause consequences which would render them useless to society, their families and the future they might have had. I will take my "male" experiences and count myself lucky to have come away unscathed. I know of many others who were not so lucky and I am sure you do as well. I have seen more than enough first psychotic breaks in teenagers thinking marijuana harmless.

Congratulations on your successful studies. I am sure you do have a natural talent for it. It is a noble pursuit.

Psilibus

Oh, sorry, thought I'd add this just to clarify my point. Shamans have a different pursuit altogether. The work of a shaman has nothing to do with experimenting with drugs, ie. salvia divinorum. Shamans generally learn their practice from others of their ilk. Shamanism also involves deep and purposeful trance states with specific intentions. They don't do it to have a "mind-blowing" experience. That is what I wish to clarify. No one should frown on a shaman  :-o

I'm done. Sorry for dragging this out.

personalreality

word.  it's a relationship cultivated from the beginning of their apprenticeship (with their plant ally).

they don't use it for enlightenment, they use it to bridge the gap between worlds to support their community.

as stookie says, drugs aren't the topic here, yet it still comes up a lot (which i don't see how one could think it wouldn't in a forum to discuss altered states of consciousness....).  My concern is like yours mushroom man, and i've said it before, I don't want an uninformed person who's probably gonna do the drug anyway to do it without experiential information for those of us that have been there.  I may have even said that in this topic.

Stookie, maybe you should set up a topic that says "DRUGS" and just says, "Don't talk about it here" and has a like to a site like Erowid or something.  I dunno.
be awesome.

Psilibus

Erowid is a great resource. I have browsed that site for many years. Yes, that is a much better venue for those who wish to "blow their minds".

I want to consciously project to unseen worlds and speak to enlightened souls! Lets talk about that!

personalreality

Have you not achieved conscious exit mushroom man?
be awesome.

Psilibus

Oh yes, many times but not while under any of the aforementioned influences.

I used 20x Salvia on 2 occasions and NEVER again will I touch it.  First time was just off the map crazy but not bad, but the second took me to places I didnt like!

Bought it over the counter on both occasions back home in England.
