When it comes to relaxing I always notice I lay down and my heart pumps faster. Does that mean I getting more anxious rather than relaxing? does heart rate matter when it comes to trying to project? thankyou.  8-)

There's two explanations, one more widely accepted than the other.

First the physical- when you lay down/recline and relax, the heart is almost 'in your face'.  So you become more aware of its pounding, especially if it's at night, or quiet (which makes sense when you're relaxing.), or if you're thin-less meat to attenuate the rhythm.   Then you become aware of the beat, and it increases.  Adrenalin.
If this is the case, lower your caffeine consumption and it should be less noticeable and/or annoying.

The other one is that the heart beating fast is really not your heart- that the heart chakra has engaged (which is not rare at least at first when you are trying to project) and what you're perceiving is the heart chakra 'purring' (or rat-tat-tat-ing).  This is easy to verify- use a stethoscope and compare the heart rate to your perception of it.  (It would be better for another person to listen to your heart).  You'd be surprised at the difference.

There's another possibility, but it's probably less likely.

You heart and soul are not at rest
You must do introspection, reflection and meditation

What did you mean by this? that i'm at ill ease with myself? (could be right)

Is there perhaps any good effective methods of breathing or something that could help this heart pounding problem? it really seems to be killing all my attempts

If it's your heart chakra, then no... you can really only ignore it and become accustomed to the feeling.
If it's the physical thing that CFT mentioned, then just try taking deep breaths... or meditate in a different position.

Your spirit and soul is much more beautiful than you are right now, sorry to tell you but its true.
you need to get down to your own person pain and issues. Reflection, this is a part of the spiritual path.
your so distant from your soul that your soul can't listen. Its similar to law of attraction. (like reflect like)
You can't see it in this state. You could maybe develop some advanced technique technique where you travel quickly along a path, I'm guessing orange, other colors would work to to various degrees and come to an understanding of yourself in this way but I would suggest the latter first.

I have had a similar problem.

I have found a few ways to tackle it.

1. If it's an acute problem you may just have to wait it out and practice once you return to a normal state.
2. Learn to ignore it.  I used to have a problem where I could feel my heart beating in my stomach when i would do deep breathing and it was VERY distracting.  It actually brought me back from a projection once.
3. A technique offered by Sylvan Muldoon in "Projection of the Astral Body" is to focus on the heart beat in your chest then move your attention around your body (first head, then neck, then abdomen, then legs, then arms, then feet, then hands, etc.) and try to feel your heart beat in the different parts of your body.  Once you can do that, move the heartbeat again, but this time try to slow it down.  It's really not hard to do once you've gained a little control of feeling your pulse around your body.  You'll find that it's actually easy to control your own heart rate consciously.
be awesome.

Thx for this advice but can you elaborate on the part about moving your heart beat around your body? how can you do this? I don't really get how you could feel your heart beat in your arm for example?! (lol) pls explain more on what you mean and how to do this. Thankyou.

personalreality

try it.

your pulse moves through your whole body.  your pulse is the effect of your heart beat, so feeling your pulse is feeling your heart beat.

move your attention to different places in your body and just be quiet and still, you will feel it.
be awesome.

Along the lines of what pr. just said, there is a type of yoga in which you join your index finger and your thumb and feel for the pulse there.  You try to feel the pulse, and do a mantra around it, using the beat as a guide for the rhythm.  I find it very relaxing.

THis happens to me a lot, thank you for the stethoscope idea CFTraveler.
