I always try and just fall asleep or dream...when I wait for one the only thing I get is a floatie feeling, kind of like im about 3 centimeters above my body, but that happens anyway sometimes....

Well there are many different techniques and all of them work great for different people!
For example you can try deep breathing exercises and then imagining pulling yourself up with a rope.
Or if that doesn't work then you can try phasing and there is a whole resource on it: http://www.astralpulse.com/frankkepple.html
Maybe you could try some binaural beats, a good website to download them from is: http://gnomad.info/
4% of teens will stand up for God. Put this in your signature if your one of the 96% that wont... Har har har

Yes you can.

You haven't said what technique you are using. How are you setting yourself up for success? As Chubysnow said there are many techniques and resources available.

What are you trying to achieve? What are you "wait"ing for?

I'm trying to project. well last night I was doing this thing where I was going to get sleepier but consciously stay awake I guess..there was a technique I read where someone rolls their eyes up and waits for pressure to build, and keep on letting it build until a snap happens and they're gone...thats what I was trying to do but I fell asleep and this morning I was disturbed too much.

i would work on reaching a consistent solid focus 10 state as your goal and going from there to focus 12.. then from there after that is down pat its whatever you want... you will probably project with any of the seemingly successful ones at that point, but, most importantly.. practice, and do not expect instant gratification.

Pls tell more about this technique pls.

Chubysnow

Don't harm your eyes while doing that. There are much safer techniques, but if you want to do something dangerous I hear people project while floating on the surface of water.

Ohh...it said you rolls your eyes up, and then you feel pressure in your ears or something, but don't fight it, wait til it builds, and then you're out with a snap...sounds weird. didnt know there was some kind of idk, switch for this. The techniques that have to consciousness and sleep make more sense

Focus 10 is described as mind awake, body asleep. Sometimes you have sensation of your body, other times you have absolutely no awareness of it. Here is a good article if you want to read more about it http://www.explorations-in-consciousness.com/focus10.html

Focus 12 is in the mind. At this focus level, you typically see and hear random images and sounds.

If you want to read about the Monroe Focus levels, here are a couple of links:
