WOW. What just happened?

Alright folks, I'm overjoyed to finally have registered. I've been checking this site for months.
I started reading about astral projection casually around February, but I already had a deep interest in such things beforehand.

I'll summarize my whole story quickly. Last Summer I went to Amsterdam and tried Hawaiian Baby Woodrose. First note, I am not a junkie and it was just an experiment for that one time in my life. However, my beliefs shifted and I had an extremely powerful emotional experience. In later months all that I had come to believe reflected the beliefs many share on these forums. It is how I got into astral projection.
Now to what I came here to post about. For months I've practiced all sorts of stuff. I've had two experiences which might classify as OBEs. One was where I did not realise I was asleep.  :-D I was sitting on the sofa. Then I lay into a position on the sofa - and woke up, in that position! It could have been a dream; but who dreams about sitting in a position next to where they fell asleep thinking they're awake? Maybe it was just a dream.
The other experience was open-eye visuals the instant I woke up while on a student exchange in Germany. Except then I opened my eyes for real.
---
I never really thought those counted.
But this morning I had the experience of my life. I woke up and was reluctant to get out of bed. I hit the snooze button was woken up every nine minutes. Inbetween each period of dreaming, I had a vivid dream. REM style. On the last one, I had a dream I was flying. Then I had a familiar sensation and tried to astral project, and I used the rolling out method. Since I was asleep, my consciousness was not stuck in my body.

I DAMN WELL FELL. Out of whatever fantasy and reality I'd been in. I fell into what can only be described (but was not literally) whiteness. I heard WHISEPRING and all sense of space was gone. I was instantly afraid. I couldn't believe it. I briefly thought of wanting to change the landscape, but it was the same problem as my lucid dreams. I don't REALLY believe I can control my dream and besides, I had only expressed a desire to shift somewhere - instead I just felt as if I was in a fetal position. I very quickly calmed myslf and curiosity took over, but I experienced a huge desire to return to my body so I could rationally think about what had just happened. I woke up.

I also believe that in that moment when I shifted from dreamscape to 'astral', I had a click in my physical body behind my eyelids. Some sort of trigger.

I still have inklings of doubt that it was just a dream, but just wow... I  know that my thinking was unlike what I'd normally get in a dream; I realised I had been dreaming before the experience and that I had shifted into whatever reality that was; and felt very much awake. I rushed to this forum afterwards, amazed, to share what had just happened.

I've also opened up to my mum about this because although she's a Christian she has leanings towards the spiritual and, if I dare call it so, mystical. She just felt afraid something bad would happen to me.

I really hope you can all help me to understand and achieve these experiences.

Hello Inico
What you experienced could have been an OBE yet it was most likely a dream. Most first time OBEs occur in the bedroom (or a nearby location). Some out of body travels Do take place in unusual places. Some people even describe suddenly being in a total void. However, those voids are almost always completely black. So the chances are that the whiteness you experienced was a product of either a dream or distorted senses. That's just my guess though and your experience may well have been something else entirely.

Would I still pop up in my room if I had no link to it, having been elsewhere in my mind?
I'm after the truth, so if it was not a genuine experience I'd rather not believe it is.
What are OBE's like for you?

You seemed to be confused during your experience. From your description it seemed that you were unsure what state of consciousness you were in. So it could have been an OBE or it could have been a dream or it could have been both. I can only guess at it and there isn't much point to that.
I have had a few experiences that left me questioning whether they were OBEs or dreams. Yet usually I am quite sure during the experience whether it is an OBE or a dream. Sometimes my consciousness is clouded and my astral senses are distorted but fortunately that is the exception and not the rule.
I hope your next experience is a fully conscious and clear OBE.

In regards to the whiteness, there's a paragraph here: http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/welcome_to_permanent_astral_topics/gateway_wave1_pointers-t1832.0.html;msg22530#msg22530

QuoteAlso, something someone posted the other week about Monks and their wanting to attain a state where they are within themselves looking at what was described as a white screen. Immediately I recognised what the person in question was saying. I used to get that quite often and it was a flaming nuisance to be honest. Because there I'd be after maybe an hour and a half of working towards getting my physical-body out of the mental equation, I'd just be getting to thinking that I was transitioning nicely and the Astral was about to come into view, and then plop: all I'd get was this blank white screen that I couldn't seem to get rid of.

I'm not too sure of it's meaning, but meh... perhaps you might have some idea.

I dreamed about astral projecting again last night - it's funny how it's identical to a lucid dream, except you still don't know you're dreaming. I just know I'm in Focus 2 and could do what I wanted. Was pretty sweet.

What I've remembered since the first time, through tidbits of experience, is that in both cases of dreaming about astral projection, there was a threshold at one point, of a black void I use as a transition zone.
The first time, before I got plunged into the whiteness, the blackness came before.

Last night, it came just before I woke up - I felt like I was getting pulled back and then woke up.

Personally  I think you should just realise that your energy can be spent a lot more fruitfully by focusing on real life issues and not such sleep related experiences which are common to so many people. I've had episodes of dleep paralysis a few times myself. Scary? Very.  Mystical? No way.  The real world has so much to offer without listening to kooks on this site who obviously have serious issues in their daily lives they probably need to run away from by trying to enter another 'state'.  They exit through their forehead?? Thats crazy!  You'll probably find that the people who say this have no proof or evidence of having done more than just falling asleep and having a dream.  Nothing complicated..quite simple...  Get real people and fine something better to do with your lives.

personalreality

why are you here?

we are all trying to make sense of a phenomenon that few people have real experiential knowledge of.

there's no need to derogate the responses of others.
be awesome.

If the "real world" has so much to offer, what are you doing trolling on Forums which you have no interest in?

Should we start spending our energy discrediting something we clearly have no clue about like you? Way to have a purpose in life mate.

lol, its pretty sad when someone is so distrusting of their own beliefs regardless of how ignorant and close minded they are to the point where they have to hide after so inelegantly spouting them.

We'll probably be seeing more posts from people like "the truth" on here. They are scared of what we know about what is beyond the physical and how we interect with it. The more people know, the more this spoils their plans. He's probably paid to troll forums and talk smack. A drone with no mind of his own and easily controlled.
