Question about my niece, help please

Well my sister went to see my niece's teacher about some concerns. What she found out was that my niece has told her that she sees things and hears things and the teacher said it might be early signs of schizophrenia. I really don't think it is a disease but maybe she really sees things we don't. She doesn't seem scared but she just zones out sometimes and she really has a gift for creativity.

Apparently my niece is very sensitive to sounds and gets scared to new things like she went to sea world and was very affraid to seeing the fish.

How can my sister approach something like this without medications or to understand what is going on?

well....

everyone here is going to jump on my back about this, but the last thing i would do it take her to a doctor.  they're going to tell you its' something it's not then over medicate her with anti-psychotics, which should be called pro-psychotics because they make people lose touch with their reality.

i would start teaching her control now.  like meditation.

it will be tough since she little, but find creative ways to approach it.

perhaps you should also get her to start drawing what she sees and writing down what she hears.  naturally if voices are telling her to hurt herself or others there may be a problem.  but see whats up first.  she is probably just a gifted little psychic.  most kinds are.

There are a lot of Indigo & Crystal children that have been born and it sounds as though her 2nd sight is a natural state for her! Doctors will truly just give her drugs that will make her psycho....and she's just really gifted already! I agree totally with personalreality & Xanth!!!

Thank you very much for all your responses. My niece is only ten years old but she seems very sensitive to many things. I really told my sister not to let anyone give her any drugs because I know she will truly be sick. My sister agrees with me that she may just be different in terms of perceiving more than the average child.

How can you tell when there is an indigo child?

I don't know all the specifics, but you can google it and find plenty of info.
