I have a hard time picturing and feeling the effects meaning I can't imagine the ropes or feel myself pulling up on the rope. is there anything Easier that doesn't require imagining ropes or trying to feel myself reaching out of my body to grab a rope

Nice read Xanth,

In my case I never tried any techniques, I tried phasing with noticing and that is what has worked for me (not lately though)

Good luck

Im also new to astral projection, I've found that setting the alarm for 4:30 in the morning is a good time to practice as the body is still very close to its sleep state, then its just a case of remaining aware as you drift back off then any method can be used to exit. You will find it surprisingly natural (hopefully)

That's actually very close to this particular method for projection:  http://unlimitedboundaries.ca/2010/09/09/bedeekins-method/

I'm hearing and reading lots of success stories related to it.
