Greetings fellow members,
First of all I'm grateful to this forum and members, for this was the place I first learned about such a phenomenon. I've read a bit before stating to try out. So far I've read Astral dynamics, Frank's posts pdf (not fully yet) and I check posts here regularly.
I'm following Frank's method of "shifting consciousness upwards" , and following nothing else. No breathing technique or anything. I have used Robert Monroe's CDs for relaxation before, and I find that by concentrating on your forehead as Frank describes, you can do the relaxation part quite easily and quickly. Now my question - what happens to your eyes when you are trying to "shift consciousness upwards"? Are they looking straight? or they too are directed upwards? Are they squint? I have an urge to open my eyes and make sure they aren't looking upwards or they aren't squint because as I understand it, you are supposed to focus consciousness upwards and do nothing with eyes.
I have tried the method for a few days now, and I do get swinging sensations every time within a minute, like my body is rotating very fast. When it's over, I feel my body's position and posture has changed into an awkward one, while actually it has not moved at all I know. Last night I heard some slow music after those sensations.
I feel my progress is very slow. Any recommendations regarding Frank's methods? Please tell me about 'focusing of eyes" because I do think about it a lot.
Thanks in advance, and good luck to all members.

Where do you find Frank's method?

It's there in "Frank's posts" pdf which you can download from here.
http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/welcome_to_astral_consciousness/franks_posts_pdf-t31449.0.html

I know I shouldn't have opinions before I actually project, still I think there is more insight in some of Frank's posts than several occult books combined.

Below is a part of one of his posts where is describes his method.

You need to shift your focal point of awareness (or consciousness) upwards. If you concentrate, for a short while, you should realise that your focal point of consciousness is situated immediately behind your physical eyes. And that is probably where it has been all your adult life, during times when you are awake.

There lies the difficulty!!!
It is SO used to being there, during awake time, it becomes habitually entrenched. Imagine looking at yourself in a mirror and you had drawn a 1cm diameter circle in red felt-tip pen, in the centre of your forehead about 2.5cm up from where your nose joins to your forehead. That's about where you need to be, focal-point of consciousness-wise.

You will probably find that the moment you begin doing it, i.e. letting your focal point rise to the correct place, your eyes will "grab it back". You have to teach the eyes to let go and allow the focal point of consciousness to rise up as I describe.

As it rises, you may begin to see little shadows, or glimpses of any sort-of this or that. I call it stray energy. Sometimes I might see a little figure coming out of a hazy mist. Just this morning, for instance, I could have sworn I could see the head of a wolf right in front of me! But you need to teach your eyes not to react to it. The way you do that is to keep practising.

At first, as your conciousness rises and you see a tiny glimpse of some image or other, the eyes will suddenly try to look. It's like the eyes say, "What was that??? What did I just see!!!" The moment they try to look at whatever it was, your focal point of consciousness will immediately drop back behind your physical eyes. So you'll have to start again. But after a short while, you will pass through the stray-energy stage and begin feeling vibrations. Once you feel those vibrations that's it, you've done it.

Problem is, people read all kinds of books about all the many so-called "techniques". I remember the days when I would go to bed, armed with probably 50 techniques for relaxation; 75 techniques for the breath; 20 techniques for the exit, etc., etc. You know, I'd be prepared for any and every eventuality that may arise... and boy was that stressful!!!

the eye bit is tough.  it doesn't matter where your eyes are facing, just as long as you can stop them from moving.

your eyes are constantly making micromovements, movements that are mostly imperceptible unless you're really looking for them.

your body won't let go until your eyes stop moving.  you just have to practice holding your eyes still.  i found that practicing with pictures that cause you to focus intently on one spot are really helpful.  for example, the 3-D magic eye puzzles, optical illusions (especially spiral ones), a dot on a white wall.  things like that.  helps you learn how to control your eyes.

but in the end, it doesn't matter where they're pointed, you just want to forget about them and let them go to sleep.
be awesome.

There are a couple things you can do with the eyes... you can turn them upwards.  This has the effect of keeping your eyes locked shut... but it also strains them a lot unless you practice it.
Alternatively, you can do what PR said and just relax them enough so that they don't do those 'micro-movements'.
So, yeah, again, as PR said, just relax and forget about your physical body.  Disassociate.  :)

As Frank said in that last paragraph that crowley posted...
Don't worry too much about anything.  Just go with the flow.  :)

Thanks Personal-reality and Xanth for responding.
I thought if I kept my eyes upwards, I would still be looking by eyes and not focusing my awareness upwards. I guess focusing eyes and focusing consciousness are different things, perhaps mutually exclusive. May be I am too aware of my eyes, which is kind of missing whole point of 'forgetting the physical body'. I was so frustrated with it last week that I started doubting whether all humans can project. May be it's just few of us.

I wish it was that easy! :-)
I did that staring at spiral optical illusions , and it helped in some way I guess. I went further last night and heard hissing sounds, later there was a distant music which I'm certain wasn't coming from outside. This is all very interesting even before an actual projection occurs.

If you have more suggestions for me, please share.
Thanks

It is that easy!

Try out one of those 3D pictures that PR posted at one point.
They really do teach you to relax your eyes.

I've been reading Franks posts as collected by Xanth.  What a wise, kind man!
