Disturbing Dream Within A Dream

Warning: This is a long post lol.

Earlier today I experienced something that was quite disturbing and would appreciate some input/interpretation of it.

In my dream, I was sitting in a woman's lap that resembled an "older" version of a girl that I went to elementary and junior high school with.  In the dream, she had long black hair, pulled back into a ponytail, I couldn't tell if the hair was straight of it was actually dreadlocks. She was wearing a red shirt and we were sitting in a red chair. In her hand was a device that looked like an i-Phone or a similar smart phone device. She was showing me pictures of her restrained to a chair by leather "restraints".

This wasn't causing her any harm; in fact it seemed more sexual in nature. (think BDSM). While she's showing me these pictures, she's also flirting with me (perhaps a better phrase would be trying to seduce); asking me if I understood what was going on in the pictures and what it meant.

The next thing I remember, I was showing her videos of myself on a smart phone device that I owned. It was a video of me sitting at a table, in a house, and I was talking about the Earth. I have no memory of what I was saying about the planet, I just remember hearing the word "Earth".

I've always been self conscious of myself and my looks and it wasn't my intent to show her the video. I remember constantly hitting the exit button on the phone (yes, there was a button on the phone that said "exit") in an attempt to get back to the main menu on the phone.

I  looked up from the phone, and  saw my cat knocking over pillows and a lap, being mischievously destructive (like cats can be lol), my cat jumped from the chair and started to playfully chase another cat that looked just like her! That's when it clicked in my brain: "Wait a minute, I don't have 2 cats!" and I realized that I was dreaming. Usually when I realize I'm in a dream, I go lucid, but this time, the only thing that was on my mind was getting out of this "place."

I woke up, thought it was a weird dream, and proceeded to walk towards my computer. I began to debate on whether or not I wanted to finish watching a video or if I wanted to do something else.  Before I could decide I heard my grandparents' voices. Earlier that morning, my grandparents went to the ER because of a toothache my grandmother was having. My first thought after hearing them return was "Wow, That was a quick trip the hospital".

My grandmother proceeded to come into my room and began asking me questions about a CD that I had made for my mother and she wanted one as well. I told her that my mother had the CDs and that she would have to wait. My grandmother appeared to get a bit agitated about this and said that she would just go to the store and get the CDs herself. At the same time, I noticed that the light in my room started to get really dim and I looked up into the ceiling and noticed that my bulb was burning out. I asked my grandmother were the light bulbs were kept and she told me where they were. Before I walked out of the room, I looked back up at the ceiling and noticed that my light fixture contained 6-8 sockets (I can't remember the exact number).

That's when I realized that this wasn't really my room and I was still dreaming.  Now, I've experienced a dream within a dream before, but this one definitely rubbed me the wrong way. I couldn't help but get the feeling that I was being tricked into believing that I had woken up and my day was continuing from my nap.

Needless to say, I immediately tried to wake up. And that's when the sleep paralysis kicked in. It took me 2-3 times to finally open my eyes. Once I did, I felt extremely drained and exhausted, I felt more exhausted after I woke up than before I napped!

Now awake, and quite disturbed, I decided to go outside and get some fresh air. Once outside I began to feel a little bit better, but I forgot something and went back into my room to retrieve it. The minute I did, I felt the same exhausted/drained feeling. It was as if it was a lingering wave and I had walked back into it.

After a while, the feeling went away.

Sorry about the long post, just wanted to recall as much as I could, and to be quite honest, I'm not sure if this was actually a dream.

Does anyone have any opinions/thoughts/interpretations of why I experienced this?

Hard to interpret so much imagery about someone I dont know. Best I can do is a few thoughts and questions to ask yourself.

The girl is in restraints but you are in her lap. A part of your personality that you try to repress but really has control of you maybe?

The cats could represent you and this other aspect of your personality. There shouldnt be two cats though, they should be one. When you realise this you become lucid(gain control). By emracing it as part of yourself you can gain control.

If your grandmother and mother represented different aspects of yourself and the cd represented an aspect of your life that one part of you has control of but the other part wants would that mean anything to you?

I notice you've put certain words in speech marks. When put together do they mean anything to you?

"older", "restraints", "Earth", "exit"

The light sockets seem significant. Things that illuminate? You have to choose one maybe? 6 to 8 could represent chakras needing to be turned on I suppose.

Dream messages mean different things to different people but if my higher self told me my bulb was burning out and showed me lots of places to put bulbs I would take it as meaning one of two things - that my current practice had done all the illuminating it could and it was time to pick a new one, or if I had lots of practices going I would think it meant I've been doing too many and it's using up my energy and I should choose just one.

Interesting dream. Thanks for posting it.

The girl wasn't in restraints while I was sitting in her lap. She was showing me pictures of her being in restraints.

I'm not sure why there were 2 cats either.

No...unfortunately, this wouldn't mean anything to me but maybe this will help. My grandmother in the dream (and I feel like this is what should've made me realize it was a dream) was wearing clothes in an odd fashion. I guess the best way to describe it was that the clothes were mismatched. And her stomach was exposed, and my grandmother in real life, would never do this at her age lol.

No, the words wouldn't mean anything to me, the words were in speech marks just to put an emphasis on them.

That definitely sounds like a possibly since I have begun to meditate. I haven't started to learn about chakras yet, I'm still working on just quieting my mind. lol

You know you can ask your dreams what your other dreams meant.

I actually had a dream about multiple versions of the same cat before and had to ask what it meant. Before going to sleep I just said, "dreams, what were the cats all about." I got another dream that helped explain it that night.

Something tells me that the first three parts of your dream may be trying to tell you the same thing. They all have pairs, you and the girl, the two cats, your grandmother and mother.

Sorry I cant be of much help.
