Question being when you need to use visualization for anything such as seeing white light flow into your body, moving the light around inside you or sending energy out of your body into something, etc... Does it really matter if you visualize what is happening to your body in 1st or 3 person ? Is one more effective or less effective than the other? Reason I ask is I'm a better, way better third person visulizer than I am first person visualizer. Don't get me wrong I can first person visualize but it takes allot more effort for some reason than sitting back and watching my self from a third person perspective.

Some people say first person perspective is best... because it gets you INTO the scene easier.
But I say it doesn't matter.  I believe that the point is to put your consciousness ANYWHERE in the scene.

Try both... see which works best for you.  :)

i would say that ideally you'd want to be in first person.  the reason is simple, you're trying to "convince" your mind that you really are in this visualization.  when you do 3rd person visualization, it's a lot more like normal daily imagination (day dreams even).  i think first person would probably be more effective for projection type stuff.
be awesome.

I say it's better because it takes more focus and concentration to hold that perspective. While it's more challenging, you get better with practice and it pays off. What is "easier" is not always best for the long term.

Ideally, you should be able to clearly visualize what you want, when you want, from your chosen perspective.

I've been experimenting with scene visualization lately and I've noticed a couple things... the more I incorporated tactile imaging and my other senses (mainly touch, smell and sound) into the mix, the deeper I went into trance. Also, if I tried something that wasn't logical or practical it disturbed my focus. If you were really in the scene you are visualizing, you wouldn't be looking at yourself in third person right? There ya go. It is almost like a juggling act trying to balance these extra elements as it takes intense focus, but if you try to imagine yourself there in every sensory way it'll pay off eventually.

Thanks for the replies. Judging from the responses I will work from the first person only from now on.

You can try and combine 1st person and 3rd person. It's bloody difficult(for me anyway).

Like I'll visualize(in 1st person) getting up and walking around the house. Thats easy enough. But if on that walk around my house I try and walk back into the room my body is actually in and see myself, it usually all falls apart. Even turning in the direction of my body when there are walls in the way is difficult. It's feels like when you push two magnets together that dont want to be.
