They were audible, and they made my whole body jump. Very loud...

I was just waking up when this happened. They sounded like...

Imagine if you recorded someone dropping a metal pot on a wooden floor, and playing it back in reverse. Two of the same recording overlapped slightly off so that the "bang" occurred twice.

Ideas?

Yes, but I'd have to link you to another forum, and I'm not sure if there's a similar one here yet.

Go ahead.  :)

As for the sound... hypnogogic.
The sound wasn't physical... it was non-physical in it's origins.
Get used to it... cause you'll be hearing stuff like that a lot.

Bangs, Pops, Screams... etc...

people see and hear all kinds of strange things in the borderland states.

there are lots of 'superstitions' that have built up over the years that are based almost entirely on weird sensations people have in these states.  like 'being ridden by a witch' or an 'incubus' or 'succubus', these are considered nowadays to be either "lower astrals" (whatever that means) or energy sensations associated with the change in perception from physical to non-physical.  there's a cool book out there called "The Origin of Psychic Phenomena" by Stan Gooch, it touches on a lot of the different experiences people have in altered states.
be awesome.

Never mind.  It was pruned so badly it is now useless.  Oh well, it used to be good.
