I have been interested in lucid dreams for a while now. I would love to be able to astrally project. As I am a newbie at this, where should I start?

thanks

Meditation for astral projection, reality checks for lucid dreaming. Basically you should look up the very simple technique for astral projection, and supplement it with learning about meditation for beginners as you will have to train your mind and body to be relaxed and focused (something the average person is terrible at by default).

Is it possible to astrally project to a realm and experience it as if it was real? By that i mean it is indistinguishable from normal reality where I can walk around and interact with objects?

Is this Astral Projection or Lucid Dreaming?

thanks

It can a little bit of both. Most of my OBE's have been "RTZ" But i did have 1 experience in which i believe i AP'd. It was during a lucid moment where i tried to induce vibrations to "leave" i guess my astral body? lmao. As soon as i closed my astral eyes i felt classic vibes. And then when i opened them the scenery changed around me. Floating Temples, people flying. It was all so very "real" and "vivid" more so then this physical "reality".

That MAY have been an AP or just part of my lucid dream. Who knows. But I was fully aware at the time and my surroundings. I try to make it back there but was only able to do so that one time.
For those who believe, no explanation is necessary. For those who do not, none will suffice. ~Joseph Dunninger

How were you able to tell that you were in the RTZ?

The astral plane is as real as this place, and in certain instances it is more real. I would personally label the astral as being more real.

Yes, you can fully interact with it with all your senses. At times it can be indistuingishable from this world, particularly when you're in the near-physical levels.

Lucid dreaming is whatever you want it to be. I label it as a gateway into the astral, a kind of back door if you will. Whenever we fall asleep, we are always in the astral plane and that is where we dream. Dreams are not always or often full illusionary environments and scenarios, they are hallucinations which occur within the astral. This means that what we experience in dreams can be a fully real astral environment, but with subconscious hallucinatory "fluff" which we add to it from our own mind state. Lucid dreaming is the realization that you are dreaming, to take this one step further it is the realization that you are in the astral plane. At that point you can choose to manipulate your subconscious hallucinations to your liking, or you can have those hallucinations dissolve and interact fully with the astral plane.

A problem you might notice is that I am describing the astral differently to the poster/s above me. This is because even though people often experience the same or similar things, we are still limited by our physical languages. What is named "RTZ" above is something I personally label as astral projection as well. It's a matter of location. Kind of like the difference between going to Paris and going to France; same place, different places.

What does RTZ stand for?

"Real Time Zone" you're welcome  :-)

To me the 'RTZ' or etheric plane is completely different to when I am in Astral plane. It is grey yellow color and usually darker than Astral, and it is almost the same as my physical locality, I recognise the house next door and real people walking by. But as soon as I fly up the vision is clear and colorful and I have moved into my astral body.
Cheers, djed  :-)
