was it a dream or projection?

Hi! I'm a beginner and have been adamantly intending to project for the last month or so without much success. Last night I stayed at my grandmothers house, set my alarm to wake myself up at 5, stayed up for awhile then tried to go project. Instead of focusing on my body I only focused on my breath. After a long time I saw rings pass through my vision and felt the vibrations. Then instead of seeing the room like I assume I'm supposed to, I saw every person who has ever been in the room in a kind of fast forward movie. standing where they were in time, yet constantly moving (Is this because it's a brand new house?) I felt my heart rate go up, calmed it down because I did not want to lose the projection. at some point the people stopped appearing and it was just the room. I pulled myself up out of my body, it felt like I was getting up out of heavy water, to a sitting position. turned around, saw myself sleeping and another girl lying down sleeping next to me (I went to sleep alone) then I tumbled to the floor, walked to the door. I remembered how dark the house was a didn't want to go through the door and ended the projection(?)

Definitely a classic OBE, congrats.

yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!! who was the girl sleeping besides me though?

Astral316

That was your lesbian lover from 5 eons ago.

Nah but really it could've been a person who lived there, maybe like the others. You'll encounter a lot of strange people in the astral... whether they're random spirits chilling out in the plane you're experiencing or just creations of your own mind is a judgement call.

my next question is how do I project at home in my own bed? it seems to be easier to project at other peoples houses than my own bed.

Astral316

I don't see why you can't do that same method in your own bed... the wake-up early routine is what I do myself and it works fine anywhere.

Hallo dream
Yes, I agree, that was a short and full OBE. That feeling of getting up out of heavy water was probably due to the physical body distorting your astral senses and causing confusion. Maybe it also accounts for seeing another, unfamiliar person in your bed.
It is usually a good idea to try to get at least 15 to 20 feet away from your physical body during an OBE. Not only can the physical body cause distortions in perceptions and confusion it can also prematurely end an OBE. And that, apparently, is what happened to you.

Hi Congratulations Dream. If you saw those people before you exited your physical body they could have been hypnogogical images, sometimes you can get sounds too. These images are a gateway to the astral. It is best to practice in the same place without the possibilty of getting disturbed.
Keep at it, good luck!

what do you mean by hypnogogical? should I have exited while the people were around? it wasn't so much as if people were standing there but more like a movie montage of every person who has ever been in the room. it had a sense of time because the lighting changed with days as people were coming and going. should I have projected in the midst of all the activity?

instead of doing that, it stopped at some point and I projected when the activity stopped, it was just the room and found the room occupied by myself and whomever I was sharing the bed with, no one else

djed

Hypnagogic is the transitional state between wakefulness and sleep where sometimes we get images and sounds, especially when we are looking into the darkness behind closed eyes. When we see these images it usually means that astral projection is close.

Cheers, djed  :-)
