Questioning if this projection turned into a dream or if this is common

I was napping in the vacant sanctuary of my church during youth musical practice. I got the intense ringing and vibrations so I knew i could "separate" from my body.  I was floating in the sanctuary before willing to soar up until i entered more of the astral plane. This travel ended up bringing me to this extremely crazy dream like setting. it would change if I wanted it to. there were cartoon looking things around me with health bars over their head. I saw another entity that looked human. So I tried to talk to her but she kept running. My setting became an obstacle course floating in the air. Extremely vivid colors and things were seen. Then it was kind of like a screen was in front of me and I was seeing all sorts of things I can't describe (it was all colorful and friendly) This was so fast paced and wild that I have NO idea if
A. It was an astral travel that turned into a dream (as all the feelings of being in the astral stayed with me) I've been a constant lucid dreamer and never experienced something like this during dreams or previous projections
B. If it was just an astral travel that I made crazy with my imagination and curiosity
C. If many travels are like this and this is nothing abnormal. (I've never had a travel like this before)
My wit was about me the whole time. and in lucid dreams, I would've had more control. So i'm just confused. Either way it was A TON of fun.
Please offer opinions and explanations

Hi Seeley, your experience sounds to me like a spontaneous astral projection, but because of your drowsy awareness, it is full of dreamstuff; though thats a nice place to have an experience.
Do you practise meditation? Maybe you could learn an OOBE or AP technique, from reading the posts on this website, to enable you to regularly have Astral projections.
Cheers, djed  :-)
I have a dream, a song to sing...d~ d~ d~

oh.. I astral project very frequently. I separate within 10 seconds of the vibrations and loud noises. My first astral projection was accidental and put alot of excitement in me. I googled what happended and learned about AP. I've only known about AP for about 4 months and have done it at least 10 times.  Pretty much every time I want to AP i do. but this time it just took a completely different turn. It was very intense. Not anything like my lucid dreams.

I'd say it was a combination of both B and C.
From my experiences there seems to be a complete realm or plane where everything presents itself in an extremely abstract manner. Everything there appears vibrantly animated just as you described. It seems you may not have been 100% lucid which caused your lack of control.

On a side note: why do you consider lucid dreams and OBE's to be different?? It seems you base the difference upon control, which varies with lucidity- which can change during any OBE as well.

Perhaps all of the above?

Did you consciously re-enter your body or did you fade out and wake up back in your body?

Maybe the human was some chick who played MMORPG's all day long. When she died the place could have been created from what was on her mind.

I was floating like I usually do in the astral. but the girl could do both. she was running from me and teasing me. I woke up when my friend shook me awake. and when I woke up I heard the intense ringing that i always hear before and after AP. As well as the vibrations.

Then it sounds like full conscious start-to-finish OBE, with temporary images inserted for instructional value.
