I have read about the spin technique but haven't managed to pull it off properly yet. Interesting technique you describe with the "Shhh" noise, I'll have to try that. The method I use to prolong lucid dreams is to focus and look at the palms of my hands. It is my personal trigger to "wake up" during the dream as it confirms 100% I am dreaming. If you look at your palm, you will see that your palm lines are completely random and not structured like in real life. Looking back at my palms every now and then keeps me focused in my dream. Last time I used this, I remember clearly looking at them at least 20 times, and that lucid dream lasted seemingly hours!! It was amazing!

Ive never tried the spinning thing.  I usually try not to make any sudden moves.. i move slow and deliberately usually. unless im flying.

The hands thing works for me too, to prolong the lucid dream.

I forgot to add but I want to try it next time.  Thanks for sharing

Goingslow, I agree. I try not to make sudden moves but I spin anyway.

If I spin too fast everything always goes black. I spin slow and I don't close my eyes. It works most of the time for me! [:D]

Looking at my palm lines really helps. The lines looks weird and the right hand are so much different than the other.

Stretching this too far, or too long, my hand then becomes like two wood piece when viewed. Very strange...

the only two techniques to practice on to make the ap's within lucid dreams last long is practicing awareness during the day and the candle technique (looking into the candle and then after minute or so look at the afterimage better you get the longer the afterimage stays).  I notice my ap's within lucid dreams don't last long because of this, sometimes that spinning technique works I bet it could work more times if i practice those other exercises though because my ap within a dream lasts 30seconds even though i have my awareness it blacks out because of my concentration or mind having a mind of its own at that moment not responding but the spin technique did work one time just imagine spinning ie hands out like a T then spin clockwise as fast as you can for seconds while imagining or knowing last spot you were at then let go then lie still and hope it breaks back in again, it's like a reset button in the brain.

the hands thing was the first technique i used years ago...also, pay attention to your own shadow, read everything you see (signs, clocks, ,etc.,) a few times (in waking life too...good reality check) i use the spinny thing every time i sleep and it works amazingly.....i actually tend to move faster than normal rather than slowly although in the RTZ i take my time....
...am i dreaming???

Ummmmm? Quick question why would you want to prolong a lucid dream?  I find them rather enjoyable.[:P]

prolong = makeing longer. Dragging out. keep something lasting.

i think thats where you misinterpreted there... You may find LD's a lot more enjoyable if you can stay in them longer, without wakeing or blanking out.

I happened to prolong a lucid dream, amazing technique discovered by stephen laberge of lucidity institute lucidity.com read the faq.  It didn't work the first time but now i am getting the hang of it this is my situation.  I wokeup in my bed and thought i was awake but did a test i moved out slowly i can't see (problem for most people til they move away from the body) then i hit a wall.  I did a technique someone mentioned to make the SHH sound (not SS but SSHHH) while walking through a wall and it worked i went through the wall outside my porch the SSHH sound disrupts the brain somehow and doesn't think its a solid wall.  I went outside anomalies kicked in a bit its ok but I felt like I was becoming drunk again (losing my awareness) a bit so I breathed slowly/calmed down that helped for a short bit then i turned back to walk to my house i was getting really drunk i knew i was going to phase out completely which is what was happening things were blacking out so to speak so i did the spin technique.  This is how i did it properly i imagined i stretched my hands out like a T then spun but remembered how it felt to be on those playground wheel things that you stand onto and hold onto a metal bar and someone turns you around thats how i was feeling like i was turning around on one of those things (without holding to the bar stretching arms out instead) and at same time imagine wind flowing through me so fast to indicate i was spinning fast.  First time i did it for a few seconds didn't work still everything was black.  So the second time I did it but I also kept awareness of where I am this time, so I kept my awareness (remember/imagined where i was) where I last blacked out outside my house then I stopped spinning then all of a sudden the picture broke back in and I felt like I wasn't drunk anymore had my awareness back so I started to go into my house, then I moved objects (Which weren't there anyways) thought I wakeup see if i actually moved them but I could of kept on and on with thise techniques its an amazing technique they say it works 95% of the time if you do it right that is.  Amazing I wonder if this spin technique works for conscious astral projection cause it works real darn good in lucid mode, I'd love to try it in conscious astral projection mode see if it works as well.
