A nightmare? Or my body trying to help me LD?

HiRes

I have been trying to LD for the past few days, and failing miserably.. v.v;
Yesterday afternoon I decided to take a nap and try to LD, as I do every night and morning. Well I failed at going into a LD consciously, but I did have an OBE.
It seemed like I was at the bottom of the ocean, I was swimming around with my girlfriend when she ups and disappears (like passing to the next area in a video game) So I follow her, but when I pass though the "doorway", instead of it sending me to the same place she went I ended up above a closed pipe line (kind of like mario pipes, but it had a cap on it) and there was a shark swimming around me. When I seen the shark I started to panic (I was also in a weird way calm, probably because my body knew it was a dream) well for some reason I had a blanket so I was using that to distract the shark so I could get back through the tunnel and return to safety, when it started to growl? (yes I know sharks don't growl but it was a dream and anything can happen xD) At this point I kept telling myself its just a dream and I need to wake up before it eats me. >.>

I cannot decided weather it was a nightmare, or just my body trying to make me aware and conscious so I could LD.

This is honestly the first dream I have had since I have started trying to LD, every other time I am constantly waking up every few hours and do not dream at all.(is that normal?)

anyone else have an opinion on the matter?

The dreams you have, happen for various reasons. What was your mindset before you went to sleep? What external forces influenced the dream? There's a lot to take into consideration.

Ha :p I guess I need to learn to be more descriptive with the preparations to the experience. xD

Before the "nightmare" I had, I attempted to have a LD as I have been the past 2 days.
I layed down in bed, and started to do the "mind awake, body asleep" method. The whole time my mind was getting distracted, so I tried to do a 3rd eye technique. Where I focus on my third eye and imagine, with each breath, that relaxing energy was flowing from the top of my head and engulfing my entire body. Again, the entire time my mind was getting distracted. After giving up on that method, I returned to the "mind awake, body asleep" method and ended up falling asleep while doing it. All of this took about 20-30 minutes.

 Well I was not sure x.X I never have nightmares, and when I do they always follow a good dream. (that I was not fully lucid, but lucid enough the remember the whole dream vividly) This was before I started trying to LD, or even knew much about it
