Another LD last night... Distorted face of friend & loss of lucidity.

Lucid Pirate

ATTN: You might want to read MY OTHER POST before reading this one.

I had another lucid dream last night. My 3rd documented/remembered LD to date, when attempting to LD.

This time, I was dreaming about something, but I don't remember much until the lucidity started. I believe that I was in a building, talking to a friend that I graduated high school with. I think the word "lucidity" came up in the conversation, but I didn't realize that I was dreaming, so this had no effect on my lucidity. Anyways, I fell/jumped through a window. It may have been on accident, or on purpose, but I think that it was on purpose, because in another post on this site, someone told me to jump out of a window next time I LD, so that I could fly  (Credit to Summerlander ). It shattered, then I fell to the ground and got up without any pain/injury, and I said, "I must be dreaming, because there's no way that I could have survived that if I weren't." I don't think that I was lucid until I finished the sentence.

At that point, I rubbed my hands together, and shouted (in my mind) "Increase clarity" once or twice, and my same friend is standing a few feet from me on the ground. I now think that this person was this dream's guide, because when I saw my friend on the ground, it I had a strong feeling to rub my hands together and shout. (I have "programmed" my brain to place a "dream guide" in most of my dreams. I haven't programmed them with what to do, but I think that my subconscious realizes that whenever a guide is in my dream, that it places a kind of "Help Center" or "Dreaming for dummies" in the guide to help me out. This is the first time that a guide has mentioned "lucidity" and it actually actually effected me). At this point the dream goes blurry/fuzzy, and everything slows down, kind of like a mental power surge, but then only a few seconds pass and I regain lucidity. The best way that I know how to describe this feeling is when you highlight a bunch of icons on your computer and press the enter key, and the computer slows down and lags/stutters while trying to open all of the programs at the same time. That's what happened to me in the dream, but it was my brain instead of a computer.

So, after this very brief stop, I feel an overwhelming sense/feeling that behind me, I had created a vast array of different objects. I don't know if I created it consciously, or if my subconscious placed them there. It was like all of the "programs" that had just been loaded during the "glitch" I had in the dream, and they were all behind me. I had such an overwhelming urge to turn around, and when I did, all of the scenarios, objects, people, and buildings (even the insides), that I had visualized before while trying to LD, were there. I don't remember much of what I saw because my brain was trying to process everything that I was seeing at once. There was A LOT of stuff going on, so much so that I could hardly observe it all and focus on being lucid at the same time. This is the point where my mind started to slip from lucidity. Then all of a sudden, I see my friend from afar, and called out to her, and when she turned around, she had a distorted face like the one shown below. It was really weird, and it startled me so badly that I lost lucidity, and I think that is where I woke up. But in the dream, she acted like nothing was the matter, and she was saddened that I was afraid of her.

The face was like this: Her left eye (from my view; her right eye to her.) was where it was supposed to be, but her other eye was placed directly over it. Then she had a large oval/square shaped eye beside it where her other eye was supposed to be. See the attached pic of more info.

Anyone have any clue as to what this could mean? I think that it may have just been that my brain was so overloaded that it "corrupted" my friend's "file". (Yes, I like to think of my brain as a computer. It sort of helps me trick my subconscious into thinking that I can reprogram it to my will.)

Thanks for reading.

I've seen demons like that, some had two pair of eyes and other bizarre features.

They're not demons.  I've seen distorted faces like that before in the phase.  Phase inhabitants can sometimes appear distorted just like your own reflection there.  There's a good chance that the phase is governed by the subconscious mind and the brain is very much computerised, no doubt (!), so Lucid Pirate and his interpretation may not be so far from the truth.  I have also experienced "glitches" the minute I become lucid or confronted characters about their reality in the phase.

Let's imagine that, in Lucid Pirate's brain, his friend is represented by the following configuration: 001 1010.  Now imagine that while it was processing the information, the "glitch" experienced caused a change, and the representation was processed with a slight error (nothing harmful though) and this error distorted the image-representation.  So, instead of the configuration above, what was processed by accident was: 001 1001.

Why did the brain make a mistake?  Because it could afford to do so at that moment.  Because it didn't matter if the mistake was made.  Because Lucid Pirate was lucid and aware of the kind of reality that surrounded him.  The cerebral computer could afford to stutter on this occasion.

I have also seen people faces melt during the waking state when I was tripping on magic mushrooms.  Sometimes they looked pretty demonic.  And yet, I know they were not demons!  LOL!  The psilocybin had reconfigured the input data in my brain and distorted reality.  Simple.  :-D

They may appear in many different forms, just as there are many different types of insects and beasts. You guys should explore more, there are lots creatures out there.

Many different thought-forms more like.  I'm sorry but I don't subscribe to mysticism and fairytales.  I've been exploring this phenomenon for three years now plus my multiple experiences when I was a child.  As a child, I was scared of the "dreams that seem real" and the "white-skinned men" that terrorised me.  They are most likely products of fear, uncertainty, expectation, belief and stem from the subconscious mind.

I have not experienced anything like this since.  I also realised that the other types of scary characters were controllable and vanished or transmuted as I wished.  Now, since I don't believe them and have no fear, I simply don't experience them.  What makes you think demons exist, AndrewTheSinger?  Is this opinion from your personal experience or is it because of something that you read which left an impression on you?

AndrewTheSinger

Three years is not long enough. Actually, you can go on exploring for your whole life and not find anything if you keep censuring what the experiences are trying to show you.

Generally speaking, in AP and dreams you will only see what you are able to see. Therefore, of course, if you don't believe something exists, you either won't see it or see it as something else. This will end up impoverishing your experiences, and keep you from learning more. For you can only know what number 2 means when you first learn the number 1.

Ancient cultures used to talk about the invisible reality an its entities. They performed rituals to get in touch with them. Whether you prefer to believe that they were just imagining things or contacting real beings, they had results, otherwise they would just forget about it and start doing more useful things.

Surely, I had to learn all of these things, I didn't know what to believe at first, and had to change my mind many times to see what made more sense.

It is a 'different' way to understand how reality functions. Recognize what is in front of you, and what is hidden will be revealed to you.

For example, do you know what a cloud is? Or what exists on other planets? What is the blowing wind? Do you know what the sun and the moon are? I'm not asking about what science says, but the underlying meaning. You can either believe that everything is dead, or that everything is alive. But have you really been there sincerely asking?

Back on topic please... Not to be rude, it's just that this isn't the place, and I think that it would be be better suited in another post.

I am 100% positive that she was not a demon. I was only dreaming, and I had a brain glitch. It's that simple.

On the subject of a brain "computer":
I see all memories, emotions, thoughts, feelings, actions, everything that you do or someone else does to you is stored as a "file" in your "computer", or brain. Whether the information is stored like a computer hard drive, a filing cabinet or a piece of paper randomly thrown into a pile of papers is unknown (at least to me). But my theory is that it goes through all three of those stages. First, our body takes in so much information a day that it is impossible to process it all at one time. All of the information that you take in is short term memory, and is thrown into the paper pile. While we sleep, the information is processed and filed in the filing cabinet. All of the important stuff is processed and filed into your the computer. Each thing that is stored as a file, and sorted into folders based on what happened in the file.

I believe that if you create a computer in a lucid dream, with the purpose of accessing your subconscious, through it you can access hidden files and memories, and possibly even change mental attributes and preferences. It may take a while to develop this computer and get it up and running, but once you create it, you can do pretty much anything that you couldn't do before without it.

Any thoughts on this?

I never said your friend is a demon...

Glitches can happen when one enters, like in the Matrix, when the agents find their location  :-)

I've written something about it a few years ago, you might find it interesting:

Also, just an update. I had a LD last night out of random. No trying or anything. In this one, I was fighting ghosts, skeletons, and zombies. It was one of my more interesting dreams :-D. The dream was kind of devided into levels, and each area/level was full of monsters. I had just gotten past level 2 when my dream guide came into the room, and told me "You can't stick your hand through the window". She was talking about the glass window in the door to the level 3 area. Being overconfident, I took her challenge and shoved my hand through the window. My hand went through it without it shattering. That's the point that I became lucid. I quickly rubbed my hands together, then I lost lucidity immediately woke up. What keeps on happening that makes me unable to stay lucid for more than a few seconds? Any suggestions?

Now that is an interesting experience!  It's like you were inside one of those zombie games and having a good time.  In saying that, I could simulate demons and fight against them too! Otherwise, I really can't see why summoning them would be profitable and why denying their existence would impoverish my experiences... :-D

Here's some advice about remaining in the phase.  While you rub your hands, blow on them at the same time as you walk or run.  Keep active but remain calm.  Listen out for the sound of the hands rubbing against each other and make sure that they are 4-6 inches away from your face (more effective).  Study their details.  You may also touch objects in the phase in order to deepen and prolong the experience (a correlation has been found).  Feel the tactility there in great realism.

Sensory amplification in the phase, in general, is the key to remaining there.  Once the phase is deep enough, you can employ the techniques when needed.  There is a wealth of information about deepening, maintaining and managing the phase state on obe4u, btw!  Also, besides avoiding wakefulness, once in a while you can remind yourself that you are in a dream-world so that, when and if you lose your lucidity, the probability of questioning reality is higher in the non-lucid state and thus increasing your chances to return to the phase state.  8-)

QuoteWhat keeps on happening that makes me unable to stay lucid for more than a few seconds? Any suggestions?
I would say, in addition to what's been said, always have a goal in mind. Remain active in the dream, and if you notice you're losing focus, grab something to read, look for a magazine, a book, or a cd. Reading will greatly help you stabilize.

I wouldn't recommend summoning them... but if you can recognize when one is around, then you might be able to learn about how they exist and what they do.

It's like removing a colour from your vision. If you don't believe in/don't like red, everything that is red will disappear from you in your dreams (but they might show up in nightmares).
