just curious what the pulse community thinks of the bill? to share links and conversation on the subject.

i feel that this manifested in order to start the necessary(inevitable) examination of what our rights/freedoms really are. to see that not all of us necessarily posses these "freedoms" the way we assume we do. evoke world wide inertia with the momentum of positive change .

 It was only a matter of time. For years they have been getting people addicted to computers, smart phones etc. Now comes the time when they move in to regulate them all one by one. I feel sorry for all the people that got brainwashed into buying all the electric garbage out there. There was an article the other day about all the free Aps costing parents a ton of money now. All these company give out all these cool Aps for free, but you have to pay to use them, that's the catch and the parents are the ones suffering.

If they pass it, (doubt it) all you have to do is have a copyright owner to ask the DoJ to take Amazon down.  The legal drama that could ensue would take it to the supreme court, and it would be struck down.
However, I'll do my part and disseminate it.

I heard about this so I looked it up. The copyright seems ok-ish but they went to the extreame with that one lol... I thought it was just to stop things like online movies and music etc but it's deeper then that. What's bothering me is the net censor thing. Again it seems like a good idea cause when I wana search something like buddistim or some new age spirituality stuff, I end up with christains hating and haven there opuion on the subject... I always find theses and I think that should stop. But I only agree with censoring negitive sites. I also heard they are gona censor conspiracy sites which can be good and bad. I feel we have the right to know what the goverment is doing to us but I don't support conspiracys such as satan ruling the earth and Satan is Obama or what ever lol fantasy conspracys are just to creepy specially when it makes perfect sence.

Freedom speech is good but it's also bad if a delusional person gets involed and ends up haven followers who will spread this delusonal ideas all over the net.

It's hard to believe it would pass. If it did, it would cause more internet crime, black markets, piracy, hacking, etc. Sort of like the drug war.

I'm getting tired of this whole internet fad anyways.

Can everyone do everything they can to make sure this doesn't pass? I heard they are going to try and pass it on the 21st now. Do what ever you can, write to your congressman, senator, do some kind of magic, pray. Please this most be stopped.

It is hard to believe it would pass Stookie, but that is because we are viewing it from the perspective of normal, sane citizens who know what youtube is, and who listen to the opinions of others on the matter.

Congress is made up primarily of people 60+ who have little interaction with the internet, and don't understand its functions or place in society. The voices they are hearing and catering to are those of lobbyist after lobbyist for copyright interests in media. Congress votes primarilly along two lines: the first and most important one is party-distinction; where there is not enough information to divide congress this way, it votes the way of whichever lobbyists and speakers have been put before the panel.

In summary, this bill may pass because while congress is purported to be a representatory board for the people of the U.S., the reality is that they support the interests of those lobbying groups had the most money behind them to petition and speak before congress.

Honestly, I really don't know what to think about it or what to do. All I can do is wonder how it will effect my life:

It'll give me a reason to drop my ISP and save some money each month. I don't really need the internet. It's nice, but not a necessity. Once the net is broken, I'm certainly not going to pay for it.

Is the vote pose to be today? (21st dec) be intresting to see how many sites will go down. already I feel sorry for the anime fans and art fans forum and art work. 

What's even more creepy is that this sopa thing was part of a conspiracy that was spoken a year ago.
