Heya all. Guess this is sort of an intruductory post as well as a question from me. So here we go :)

I have always had very very vivid dreams during my lifetime (I'm currently 19). So a few months ago I decided to start googling and I stumbled across astral projection. So I've been having my attempts at projecting for a few months now. At first I was very eager to try. But after a few weeks of no progress I became kind of sceptical. The month after that was a very busy time for me so I didn't really put any effort into it anymore.
Then 2 weeks ago my christmas holidays began so I had a little more time on my hand and was clearing out my internet favorites list, and I stumbled across this forum once again. So yet again I had my try with projecting and the 3rd night or so I kind of reaked my peak so far. I've had small vibrations before my "busy month" but never this heavy. My body was kind of numbed and I felt tingling all over me. Then I experienced something I hadn't before. I felt something trying to pull me up. I don't really know how to describe it. But it was almost as of something was trying to pull me out of my own body. After a few minutes though I started overthinking things because I got too excited and the feeling weakened again. After that I've had vibrations again but never managed to get out.
Also about a week ago I discovered a youtube channel of someone that has some very interesting things to say on the subject of meditation and astral projection. As well as other subjects but you can check that our yourself if you like (http://www.youtube.com/user/thairyan1).
I had my tries with astral projection because that was what I was interested in, but I am beginning to see that it is not the goal I should be strifing for. To be happy with who you are and finding peace with yourself. There's so much more to all of it. So I started meditating about two days ago.

There were some videos with binary beats posted on his channel so I decided to listen to one of them while meditating. It wasn't the longest meditation session ever I suppose, it lasted about 20 minutes, but when I opened my eyes I felt so calm... it once again was like nothing I ever felt. I even had some trouble opening my eyes at first because my eyelids felt so heavy. After that I went straight to bed and had my try at projecting once again. Very quickly I felt vibrations again but after about half an hour I lost my concentration and just went to sleep. I had a very very vivid dream again that night though, but forgot to write it down as I'm not keeping a dream journal yet and just straight up forgot to write it down in the morning. Last night I did some meditating again as I wanna make this a daily thing because I'm really liking it so far. Some vibrations once again but I was very tired at that point and just went to bed after a bit.

So.. if I managed to still keep you interested after all of this. There's a few questions I have.
For one. The vibrations I'm talking about. The feeling these vibrations give me. It's like my body becomes numb. But there's one thing.. Whenever I read about people having these vibrations they talk about it like it's so heavy that when you have them you kind of have to "pop out" eventually because it gets too heavy. So me having these vibrations. Is that the real deal or is it just my body falling asleep like it happens with your legs if you sit in a certain position for too long?
Then my follow up question is. If these are indeed the "real" vibrations (excuse me for my use of quotation marks :P), how come I haven't been able to get out yet? I do have an idea why I guess but I am not too sure. Whenever I get these vibrations I don't really use a technique to get out but I just keep lying there because I have read that if you overthink things you kind of lose the momentum. So how exactly do you apply these getting out techniques while remaining focused and not overthinking things? Is it just practice? I will definitely have my try at things again this night at least and will continue to meditate to keep improving.

Thanks for reading everyone and hope to get this topic rolling :)

It sounds like you're becoming consciously aware of the point where your body is falling asleep.
This is a solid first step.  :)

Hey man, thanks for the quick reply! :)

So good to hear I am making progress :D What do you think would be the next step to improve on? I haven't quite read any books about it just what I could find on the internet and such. Maybe you have some tips about that? Haha I'm just very eager to learn about this :P

It sounds like you are getting very close! Keep at it! When the vibrations hit, I'll enjoy them for a moment then try to roll out of my body. The first few times will be awkward and clumsy but you will figure it out. It helps to think about where you want to go-- like to the front door or just across the room.

Congratulations Petey, it sounds like you are moving along pretty good here. Total success comes with a lot of practice and commitment. I would start with this section here http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/welcome_to_astral_consciousness-b30.0/. This section has some great primers from Xanth and others. I found that to be successful you need to immerse yourself, which is also training your mind, in as much useful information as you can find. Find what works for you a hone your skills.
Good Luck and Safe Travels  :-)

Wow people... first of all thanks for the replies yet again :)

So a little update. Last night after I made the thread I did some more meditation for 15 minutes or so and It felt a lot more natural this time and I could keep my mind silenced a little longer. Not much but hey it's improvement right!
So now the thing that has kind of shaken me up a little. After my meditation I went straight to bed again with the intent of projecting. Now I was lying there and I felt the tingling coming up and such. I was pretty focused when all of the sudden my whole body began to go insane on the vibrating and my heart started pounding like a madman. But it was heavier than I've ever felt it before. Also I saw like purple waves almost like a sort of spiral in front of me and I felt like I was lifting up and going through it. And then for some reason the fear kicked in and in a split moment I opened my eyes. Of course it was pretty much over after that but it was quite the experience none the less. I don't really know for sure but I felt like if I wanted to get out there I would have succeeded so strongly, but yeah the fear got to me I think.

I will definitely try again tonight and I have a good feeling about somehow. I'm very excited again and I will definitely try not to let the fear hold me back this time!

Hi,
You're doing fine. The vibrations if strong are like a powerful electric shock, once you get them there's no doubt.
See if next time you can move them around your body by willing it and imagine that you are squashing your brain too, this usually makes them stronger. This is useful to you later.
Dont use any physical muscles with this as it cannot work by this means.
There's nothing dangerous in it at all so ignore your fears, easy to say, you'll understand later.

Enjoy the learning.
There's far more where the eye can't see.
Close your eyes and open your mind.
