Hey guys! Apologies if this question seems a little noob-ish, I'm just frustrated because i've been trying Astral Projection for almost a year now and still haven't had an out of body experience... :-(

Like some of the other beginners on the site, when I try to AP I lie down, close my eyes & do all the necessary stuff but never actually make much progress, I feel light years away from getting anywhere NEAR the vibrational stage, and I've had endless attempts over the previous months...

I've been suffering from a problem since childhood that can't really be helped in the physical plane, & I know I can seek the help I need with a spirit guide or by visiting the Akashik records, so I DO have a purpose to Astral Project, I know where I'm going & a burning desire to get there, so It can't be a lack of purpose holding me back exactly...

I kinda forgot about AP as I've been so tied up in my studies, but I was given this week off & I've been attempting to Astral Project every day, I always try at night before I go to sleep & I've even used binaural beats to help me, the only progress I really made was the ability to relax a little easier every time I tried AP, but no progress with the projection itself...

Last night however I DID get so relaxed that I started to lose a lot more feeling in my body than normal, until I felt like one stiff solid object (a bit like Han Solo frozen in carbonite haha!)  :-D I tried to deepen this condition as Robert Monroe recommended, but I just stayed frozen solid for a good 20 minutes, I was hoping the Vibrational stage would soon follow as my mind was still conscious and at the same time I could feel my body sleeping soundly, but nothing else happened & I ran out of time in the end  :-(

In my frustration I've doubted the authenticity of AP, thinking it was just a gimmick to make more spin doctors richer with their "false" spiritual programs but despite my lack of progress I still deep down believe AP is genuine & that maybe I might just be doing something wrong...

I've heard advice for Astral Projecting during the day & night, but which one is best? I tried morning projection today but It felt impossible compared with trying at night, when I do fall asleep though I notice my dreams are a lot more vivid since I've been trying Astral Projection again...

Would anyone be able to recommend good methods for inducing sleep paralysis & the vibrational stage?? I feel so behind after trying for a year and only just bordering the Paralysis stage, I thought I would have mastered it by now!

Thanks for your help guys I appreciate what you do on here, keep up the good work! & happy travels :)

Hello Mark and Welcome to the Astral Pulse. Vibrations and Sleep paralysis are only "sign posts". Not everyone is going to get these. I had strong vibrations when I first started my path to Phasing last year, but since then have not had one at all. The key to successful Astral Travel is to lose your physical focus. Awaiting vibrations and sleep paralysis is putting your entire focus on your physical body. Here are 2 videos that should help you. The first is a well done "Introduction to Astral Projection" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LK3Og_nqgNg. The second one is called "How to Master Astral Projection". This one deals with focusing outside of the body in an extremely powerful and unique way.
Watch these 2 videos and if you have any further questions we would be pleased to answer them.
Good Luck and Safe Travels.

Hello mark, i know exactly what you are going through and i would be glad to give you a few pointers.
Try a focus on having a AP, think about it and evaluate your objective and purpose
Try attempting early in the morning as it increases your chances of success. Get up like 5am, do some chores, take your breakfast and just sit quietly, when you get sleepy, try aping.
Dont look for signposts, dont be afraid, just have an air of curiosity about you.
Lie down with your binauraul beats and actually attempt falling asleep while focusing on your third eye. Really, actually attempt falling asleep! but try and be aware... sort of. When you about to fall asleep, you will then catch your energy body leaving and transfer consciousness into it.
When the signposts, vibrations and sounds start, dont be alarmed and dont be too curious about it.
Lie down with your binauraul beats and actually attempt falling asleep while focusing on your third eye.
To Love or not to Love, that is the question.

holy excrement mark i know exactly how you feel when i read this it felt like this guy is going threw the same excrement and yea my dreams are also vivid when i try to project before i sleep but for some reason recently icant remember my dreams

Trippyrod12, to have better luck with dream recall try this, tell yourself before you fall asleep that you will remember your dream. This entrains your mind to achieve your goal. Immediately after you awaken in the morning write what you remember about your last dream. You normally will have 30 seconds of strong recall, than the mind goes blank. It doesn't matter if it's something as simple as remembering a color, voice, person etc. You start small and will see in no time at all you are remembering almost everything. Like with everything else Astral related, you will get better with practice.  :-)

Thanks for all you're suggestions folks! I'll be trying again shortly as it's now 10:00PM here in the UK.

One question I had in mind was, sometimes when I'm trying to astral project, I can feel myself falling to sleep as I'm so relaxed! But I can't give into going to sleep because I can feel my consciousness slowly shutting down with my body (Like when I go to sleep on a normal night) So I try to keep my mind awake but it forces my body to stay awake too because I'm forcing my mind to still be *aware* :?

In a way my body is saying: "I can't shut down unless you stop being mentally aware! Stop being alert so the rest of your body can shut down!"

Am I supposed to drift off to sleep like normal then? Or do I still need to try and let my body shut down separately but still be alert "upstairs"?

Thanks for your help guys! Still hoping, after 12 months lol!

You need to do a technique while falling asleep, not just try to keep your mind awake. It won't work. Try my technique and pretend that your bed is a swing. Then transport yourself mentally some place else. Start visualizing the surroundings and at the same time sway yourself from side to side. Feel the motion as you are falling asleep and let that be you very last conscious thought. It may not work with your first attempt. For me it took about two weeks, but you have to be consistent with the same technique every night.

P.S trying to OBE while awake, even in a meditative state does not work. I followed that exact technique 10 years ago, because Robert Monroe's book was the only one I had on the subject at the time and it didn't help me at all to achieve anything.

Trying to have a OBE while awake or in a meditative state is difficult. It takes a lot of mental discipline to achieve. I do it twice a day and have been for months. There is a lot of other people here that do it as well. You just have to learn how to let the physical focus go to achieve it. That is way easier to say than it is to do!  :-)
Thomas Campbell says it best in this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_q5CDE2Nko

Well, I like to do it the easy way  lol

Ok, lets's go back to real basics.

Stop moving.

Literally, just lay on a couch for 20 minutes in a relaxed back down position. Straight. And don't move your body. Not for an itch, not for a noise, not for the cat. No movement.

Just keep thinking about something you want to think about. Vacation you are going to go on, images of the things you are going to do, just daydream.

It will fall asleep.

The tips of your feet will start to go numb, and eventually, when you are engrossed in a thought. You will realize you body is becoming paralyzed of sorts. THIS IS WHAT YOU WANT. This is a basic state for a whole slew of professional meditation techniques. For astral projection. This is base camp. This is the state you will go to time and time again. It is step one. You get good at it over time. Trust me, really good at it over time. It gets quicker.

Good Luck.

Cheers,

Hi,
Its like anything really, riding, driving, swimming... Once the basics have been learned the rest is an experience. The first step is always the hardest.
Stick with it. The rewards are unbelievable.
