I haven't tried to AP all week because I've been sick and really just haven't felt like putting in the effort.  On top of that I quit smoking a week ago, so I've been on edge to say the least.  Despite all that I had my first OBE last night.

I don't remember how I became aware, but at some point while sleeping I became aware that if I wanted to get out, now is the time.  I don't remember any vibrations, sleep paralysis, lucid dreams.  Just the sudden awareness that I could exit my body. The actual separation was a bit of a struggle.  It was very physical and almost felt like I was fighting with something trying to hold me down.  I kept telling myself that nothing was gonna stop me from getting out and next thing I knew I was standing between my bed and my dresser using my dresser to steady myself because I felt a little like I was drunk.

I wanted to see my body sleeping, so I tried to turn and look, but everything was dark and the room seemed to be spinning.  I thought that I should probably get away from my body before I get sucked back in, so I made my way out of the bedroom.  Once I was out of the bedroom I could see fine, but only through one eye.  I could feel my bare feet hitting the ground as ran to the kitchen.  My heart was racing.  I was so excited.

While I was in the kitchen I decided to look for something I could use as verification to myself that this really happened.  I saw a plastic box on the counter much like what a corsage would come in.  Made a mental note of the plastic box and left kitchen.

Started heading back to my bedroom because I really wanted to see my body for some reason.  On the way, I decided to try flying so I kind of dove head first in the air.  Well I guess I didn't believe I could fly because i went straight to the ground.  Had to catch myself with my hands.  While I was laying on the floor, the thought hit me that I couldn't be out of body because everything was just too "real".  I started back towards the bedroom again to see if I could see my body and prove it to myself.

As i was standing over my bed, I noticed my wife first.  I stood there looking at her for a minute.  She looked so beautiful and peaceful.  I then noticed that the body on my side of the bed was too small to be me.  I moved closer to discover that it was my daughter.  Right then I remembered my daughter getting in bed with us earlier and reality hit me like a ton of bricks.

Earlier in the night, my daughter had crawled in the bed with us.  She was restless and couldn't remain still.  She kept kicking me in the back, so I got up and moved to the couch.  I'M NOT IN BED BECAUSE I'M ON THE COUCH IN THE LIVING ROOM!  As soon as that thought entered my mind.........BAM! I was back in my body ON THE COUCH.

What an amazing feeling!

Some random thoughts after I woke up:

1.  If I was asleep on the couch in the living room, why was I in my bedroom right after the exit?

2.  I went to the kitchen to look for the plastic looking corsage box, but there was nothing.  This would seem strange to me, but I have a sister in law that is in high school.  She usually stays with us on the weekends.  And I remember for some reason a few months ago she went to some kind of dance and had to wear a corsage.

Congratulations Swamp, it truly is an amazing feeling.
I quit smoking cold turkey about 3 years ago after smoking for well over 25 years. That kind of annoyed everyone around me that was trying to quit. They were trying this program and that program. I just decided I didn't want to smoke anymore and never did again. Once again, the power of the mind will always prevail.
Good Luck and Safe Travels!  :-)

Your experience are very similar to mines, only that I barely get to see physical stuff like my room etc. I sometimes get to "feel" them somehow but not actual sight.

I believe this is because when we astral project we are not really floating around like a ghost in the physical world, I think its something more complicated. We can apparently connect with the physical world but not in the same matter as being awake in your body. I think that in the "non physical" reality space and matter does not actually exist. They are only a perception of information interpreted by our brain and rely much on our mental state and believes. Therefore if you are experiencing a "non physical" awareness, matter and space won't make much sense. I believe also we "create" much of what we experience based on our expectations and believes.

Next time you can't see in the astral just say out loud, "Open your eyes!". This worked for me and a few other people I know. If you can't see in the astral you are missing out on a lot. Even blind people have been able to develop sight in the astral... Or so I have heard.

Your exit point was your room because thats where you thought you should be. If you had been thinking of anywhere else at the time, you probably would have ended up there. You assume you have to be at your body when you exit, but remember, Astral Rules are different. Youll show up where you think you should be, and eventually where you want to be when you get better.
Good luck

yes, works for me the same way! I shout "clarity!" and everything brightens up. sometimes people just arent used to command things around them but that is just how it works in AP

I woke up this morning with a very brief memory of being OOB, but for the life of me can't remember any of it.  :x

Most of the time, at least for me, memory recall will be vivid for about 30 seconds after I awaken. So, I have to be fast if I wish to log my experiences in my dreams.

Congratulations on your OBE.

There was a momentary blackout during your separation process. Whenever the blackout happens, dream images and reality fluctuations will interfere with the OBE. It is impossible to verify objects when these dream images start interfering with an OBE.

To avoid the blackout stage is tricky. You have to separate your soul out of your physical body without using any visualizations. You have to use your energy sense and feel the motion of the separation.

Another thing to remember is anytime sight is used in an OBE, the chances of dream images interfering are greatly increased. I prefer to sense energy in an OBE to find my way around instead of using sight. This way dream images will never interfere.

This energy sense is your true etheric sense.

Dreams are visual in nature. Take away your vision sense whether in or out of an OBE, and you can say goodbye to dreamlike images and start having real OBE's that you can validate.

be awesome.

Hi,
Nice one, many more to come. Try to stay away from your physical until a little later.
There's far more where the eye can't see.
Close your eyes and open your mind.

Hi Swamp, it helps to remember your dreams and/OOBS by keeping a dream journal.
If I remember of a dream, just a snippet, as I write what I can remember, more of the dream and sometimes other dreams/Aps, come back to memory.
Cheers, djed  :-)
I have a dream, a song to sing...d~ d~ d~

Happened again last night.  Woke up with awareness to get out, so I rolled out onto the floor. Once I was out and on the floor I had no energy and just faded into a dream.

It's getting easier to find my window to get out.  I think I just have to work on staying out and memory.

Congrats swamp! That's it. You did it. Mission accomplished. Welcome to the club.

It'll get easier and easier from here on in. The large portion of hard struggling work is over. Props!

All my recent projections are becoming much more prolonged. Amongst all the techniques in my arsenal, deepening (metaphysical imagination of rubbing hands together) the the ultimate Swiss army knife.

Congrats again.

Cheers,
