Hi, not new to the forum, been following it for quite some time, but I've never really posted anything. My question is how can one obtain the motivation necessary to re start learning OBE techniques. Around 3 years ago I managed to achieve some OBEs in a 3 week time frame, yet due to fear I left it. But I never stopped reading or listening to binaural beats (for meditation). Now Im struggling with keeping my attention into trying this out again, when I listen to hemisync I simply drift off into sleep and I never concentrate. I need some motivation in order to reachieve this. Any ideas?

(My experience 3 years ago led me to see a strange figure next to my bed , so I kinda chickened out...)

Hi,
The best time to try is in the morning. Get some sleep and wake up early. Stay awake for a while, have a drink then go back to bed. Use your favourite binaural beat and then try again. You've done it before and know what to do.
Anything can appear near you if you let it. You are making these things happen by thinking about them so think you'll be alone and will do it.

Guess what? You don't need advice for motivation, because you already have enough of it, otherwise you wouldn't have kept reading on the subject. Interest itself is a part of motivation and you definitely have it. All it boils down to, is your fear. But in order to release it, you need to get a courage and confront it. Fear of the unknown is very common for the beginners, including myself when I was one. However, research others' experiences and you will notice that most them report absolutely safe travels both for physical and astral bodies. Don't be afraid of encountering entities, or seeing shadows. They are maybe just as frightened by you as you are of them. Some of them reside, or travel to dimensions which you are learning to observe. You are entering their territories.
You may encounter a manifestation of your fear in many different forms. Your thoughts have the ability to instantly mold raw energy. Just confront it and send positive thoughts or thoughts of overpowering strength.
If you encounter real negative entities for some reason (which is not a very common occurrence, unless your energy corresponds with their frequency) then you have to absolutely know that positive energy overrides negative and they simply cant exist within the same vicinity. If you have fear though, they can feed off of it and be able to stick around and scare you.
But that very thought of KNOWING that you are stronger, is your weapon against any fear.

Hello and Welcome to the Astral Pulse!
Ask yourself "Why do I want to Astral Project, what do I wish to accomplish, what are my goals there? These 3 answers should show you exactly where your motivation lies. Write down these answers and periodically check to see if you are accomplishing these. You have to see progress to continue. That's where the Astral "sign posts" really help people.
Good Luck and Safe Travels!  :-)

Agreed.

And I can't speak for anyone else, but applying discipline to my practice is what keeps me motivated. Then you're applying sincere energy and intent into your work, and you get out what you put in. Plus, it feels really good when accomplishing something through self-discipline. It makes you a stronger person with more confidence in what you can personally achieve. Rather than dreading chores, work, cleaning, meditating, etc., you embrace them as activities that enrich your life and make you a better person.

Guys
Thanx for the great advice!
Szaxx Ill try practicing in the mornings, as Ive always done it in the nights where I simply doze off. Ive read this many times. Its just hard to find the energy and time required to try, I did so a few times and the whole day I spent really tired.
LightBeam you are right, I didnt see it that way, the motivation exists. What I lack instead might be discipline! :) Now the question is how to achieve it! And facing a bad experience (nightmares) really isnt my thing... in fact I stepped away from all sorts of terror movies and excrement that messes with your brain. Any tip on how to "send" positive energy or positive thoughts ? I mean if Im in a scary scenario I think it might be hard to forget the fear and think positive when one is overwhelmed by absolute terror.

LionHeart, I'd like to answer those questions, but OBEs still are a great question mark in my mind  (I dont doubt they are real, but I ignore their extent as to what are my goals there), so far I can only think of facing my fears and overcoming my own limitations. Figuring out answers to questions like "who am I?" or "what am I doing here?" are important but I dont really care (at least not now), If we are born without knowing certain things then their might be a purpose behind the fact that we remember nothing of what came before. I guess that is something to find out! Why dont we know about our previous existence?

When you see a picture of a monster, are you scared of it to a point where you will start running? No. Because you know that it is just an illusion. Same thing applies if you are to encounter a terrifying experience in the astral. But instead in 2D, you will be observing it in a dimension that matches your perception of reality. First, if you want to release your fears, you must fully understand what you are up against. For the record, there are very few reports of attacks, monsters, scary ghosts, etc while OBEing, and many of these encounters are believed to be the creation of the explorer's own fears and imagination.
I do believe that there are entities who for whatever reason have negative thoughts, making themselves look scary, trying to interact and scare others, etc. However, the nature of a negative energy is very weak, it cannot correspond and vibrate in the same frequency and exist in the same vicinity where there is no fear and the rate of other energies are much higher. So, you must know, that even if encountering a real negative entity, just by focusing on your strength, you will automatically shift your energy, where this thing cant follow you. It will reach a barrier so to speak where is the border between frequency.
And to answer your question on how to send positive thoughts when you are frightened or even angry at an entity because of its negative nature, per my own experiences, absolute love and compassion towards everything and everyone in the universe is the power weapon. To understand why certain entities turn bad or negative, is to understand the nature of life, at least in the lower realms. And to understand that the soul passes through many stages of existence until it expands its energy and gain knowledge. So, maybe some of these entities and scary things are just lost, or still learning. Understand them, and send them an offer to help. Do not judge, for their own thoughts and deeds are keeping them where they are. They are their own punisher. Offer them to show them the next step and send them a sample of your own love and compassion.
O guarantee that at that time, if they ate not ready to handle a change, they will run away. Same applies for your own fear formations, they will dissipate. Whatever the case is, if you understand these "laws", you will succeed.

I ask myself sometimes "What do I expect other beings or entities to look like, If they are from another planet or dimension, do I really expect them to look like us? If you think about that question rationally it will help you while you are in the the nonphysical world. This kind of lessens the blow once you finally do come across one of them. I have always been one to try to prepare myself ahead of time for what I am about to see. Then when I see something like a big shadow figure or really strange entity, it doesn't bother me at all. These are only scary because they don't look like us, that doesn't mean they are evil and have bad intentions. Talk to them, you will see when they reply back to you that they really aren't that scary at all!

Hi,
Have a read,

This is second nature. Why run when your in control?
Any presence is ignored. All you'll do is wake up, with a memory of it and if that scares you well....
Go all out for it, its so much fun not knowing where you'll end up from a basic suggestion.

Hi Doomkain,

Try projecting 25 years and still having that energy as when you first started.. ;-) Trust me on this one,
there are times I don't want to project and it happens. Sometimes I just don't have the energy to muster
but that desire, fire and sharing is my goal and mission to help those around me.

As lionheart posted "Ask Yourself why do you want to project"? Please write a list of pro's and con's
on a white piece of paper. See if the pro's outweigh the con's for your achievement in learning.

Take your time at this and really reflect on that question. This is just not for you, but others that are
wondering the same. If you don't have the drive or motivation, I would not try to force it or pursue til you
really ready to run that marathon. It is a lifetime of work!

There is nothing wrong to chickening out or being afraid. I still have many experiences that I abort or have a bad vibe and return. Advance or just starting out - these are real concerns. so take your time and digest what I explained. You'll not physically die from projecting.

All the best and good luck,

Dave

Great advice fellow projectors!

Im back in business, trying to project. First of all trying to remember the most out of my dreams, so Im keeping my dream journal up to date. Currently up to 2 or 3 dreams remembered per day. I know I can reach around 7 as that was my previous standing, but I let that habit go because of the time it needed, I would spend a page on each dream so it actually was taking up a lot of time.
I also noticed that It might not only be fear that is keeping me grounded, but instead a heavy mind. The chatter and mind wandering is a real bother, so I got to remember how to meditate. I feel I've heard the Gateway Experience too many times, that I simply ignore what Bob says, and drift off. I have to keep focused!

Answering:
"Ask Yourself why do you want to project"?
I guess I have the doubt, why would I? I mean LionHeart, David, what are youre accomplishments? I have read tons of books and forums about OBEs and I still ignore what the true benefit is. I know that we can finally understand our mortality, our origin, who and what we are. But how can that improve me? how does this make me better or more than what I currently am? Im interested because the unknown has always spiked my interest, but as far as answering lifelong questions, what else can we gain? Please let me know your experiences and how they have transformed you, I'd really like to know.

Thanx

Hi Doomkain,

Sounds like your rolling along just fine and you'll reach the astral state. You are on the right
path.

You asked about "How does one benifit from AP"? Such a great question and it is a personal one for
each and everyone that pursues OBE for many reasons. When I started out back in the day, it was to
verify if this was real or not. It was a huge wake up call and slap in the face.

How OBE changed my way of thinking, mostly came from how I treated people, family, and friends. When I was
younger my ideas of life was my self centered focus on me and not others. It also helped me with setting goals, patience, and hard work - Not just from a spiritual counter-part but physical too from work, school, religion, and relationships.

About six years ago, I was reading Elizabeth Kublar Ross "Wheel of Life" - such a beautiful book and plan awesome! At her final years of her life, just an incredible treasure... Then there were other books along the lines of the Near Death experiences, hospice, and Dannion Brinkley. After a little bit, I started sub consciously having the spirit inside me ignite to start volunteering my time. I have now been a hospice volunteer for the last six years, companion to the dying. Also, started to avidly run in marathons and donate to charities through fund raising of my races.

I am not boasting here by any means or think/feel that I am any different, but I do share with you that through OBE this has changed my way of thinking and supporting others. This is personal for me and time I enjoy and celebrate sharing with others.

All the best,

Dave

Thanx for the insight David!
Its great to know how this can change a person, I hope to find the answers that I seek.

Hi Doomkain,

It all takes time, patience and comes with age. When I was in my twenties do you think I had any idea that 25 years later I would be still doing this? I didn't even think that I would experience another OBE past the first one but somehow I did.

Mostly, in my first years of experiences there were a lot chasing women, flying around,  quantity of OBEs of how many I could achieve. Later years in life, the whole spectrum came to where I realized that I was on a fierce merry go round and needed to re-focus and examine my intent. Little by little it comes to you through many channels if it is educating oneself through reading, studying and experiencing.

We all have different paths but from what I do know is that we are ripples to each other's progress. Don't force it, take your time and enjoy the experience and arriving.

Motivation is energy (physical and mental),
These things drain energy in a person more than anything else:
- sex (any kid of sexual activity, the more the less energy is left, for men this is often an issue)
- sleeping (too much or too little)
- food (what u eat and how much)
- drugs, alcohol etc
- anger
-  judgement of another person
- negative thoughts
- etc

So it all depends on ur lifestyle, u may simply not have enough energy left for obe routines if ur lifestyle already sucks most of it out of you.

Start changing ur lifestyle bit by bit, day by day, and u will start having more energy, u can then use that extra energy to do obe routines. Motivation will then be easy, not hard :)

Breaking the fear is the way forward, I had some blocks that took years to get past but its always worth it and the scary stuff in whatever form in my mind wont appear until you ready to challenge and move forward. There are barriers from physical fear to beliefs at every stage so enjoy them and use them to grow.
