I have a general question as to whether or not I am close to Phasing/Projecting.

For the past few weeks I have been attempting projection with different methods, recently I have attained Monroe's Gateway series which has helped me out tremendously with getting to and exploring the Mind Awake/Body Asleep state.  

Two nights ago I started using Frank Kepple's "Noticing" technique for phasing and for a rundown I listen to Gateway VII Track 3 Point of Departure.  

With my first experience at it's climax I saw an unfocused image of what seemed to be a red giant and experienced what I can only described as adrenaline and a deeply intense pulling feeling in my upper body mainly the center of my chest and arms as if I was being sucked into the image, I started to over analyze the situation and the sensations and image quickly faded after 5-7 seconds.

The next night I felt as if I was maybe a bit deeper in an F10 state and the 2D blackness I usually see faded to a light white/greyish color, there was no light no objects, immediately I felt much more dissociation from my body than I ever have and what first felt like excitement and adrenaline quickly turned into a fear that I have never experienced in my life that ran through my entire body.  This obviously botched the experience despite my efforts to hang on after 10 seconds or so.  Afterwards when I got up my whole body was shaking and sweating, it took a minute to get my bearings I wasn't quite sure I was in reality.

I guess I'm just looking for any validation that says I'm on the right track or not.

I'd say you're definitely on the right track. Keep this up and you'll be having you're first proper experience very soon. It's just a matter of time :)

However, as you mentioned, you over analyzed the situation. Everyone does this when they're first starting out. With more practice and experience you'll eventually do this less and less. Same with fear. Eventually, you'll get used to it.

 Excellent job Meth!  :-) The best thing here is you already realize where you were going wrong, so now you know how to change that. You have to see most of your symptoms, the disassociation with the body, white light/greyish color effect, etc. as "sign posts" to success. You sound like you are at the stage of actually shifting your entire conscious awareness over to the Wider Reality. Now, try to jumpstart your experience with a simple visual. It could be some kind of sport or activity that you like. Feel the activity first, you don't always need to view it, just go through the mental motions of that act. I find lately that I have been testing how deep into the Phase I really am by just visualizing a tree leaf in front of me with a drop of water falling onto it. I then watch as this drop slides down the leaf then into a water scene below. There I watch the ripples in the water as the drop hits it. This is a great way to test how vivid your senses are at the moment. You will find that everything gets better with pactice, but for now just observe, you can think about what is happening after the session is over. Also, keep a journal of your progress, no matter how limited it is at first. This way you will be able to see what is working and what isn't for you.
