hi. i am diagnosed with schizophrenia. I used to try to do astral projection when i was younger. My family thinks this may be a contributing factor that led to my schizophrenia. I personally dont know. Now I have a question: If I do astral projection will it make my schizophrenia worse? Or is it not safe for me?

There is evidence that points towards AP actually improving mental health. There is certainly no evidence, as far as I know, that supports the notion of such attempts causing any sort of mental deficiency.

Interesting that you mention Schizophrenia, as a study using Hemi sync technology showed that it eliminated almost all symptoms of a subject's schizophrenia. This same technology was showed to aid in inducing OOBE's and AP's. This leads me to believe that, in no way, does astral projection lead to harming one's mental health.

In my opinion, it's completely safe and would be potentially helpful for you to try astral projection. It may even help diminish many of your symptoms by focusing and clearing your mind. May I take this last sentence to point out that I am in no way a health care professional and take my opinion as just that, a 17 year old kid's point of view and opinion on the subject.

Just about anything *CAN* be harmful to you when used with poor judgment.  This includes Astral Projection.

As for will it help or worsen your situation... honestly, it all depends upon your outlook and mental faculties.  It's all up to you in how your perceive your experiences and how those perceptions work for or against you.

Like Xanth said, used with poor judgment it can be.

In anycase, if you do try it, don't go around talking about it, I did that, many people think I'm crazy because I talk about AP an OOBE, so, doing it systematically, with training like meditation, It can actually be a healthy practice, you know, as any other spiritual practice.

but, just like Bordmb, I'm not a doctor o anything like that, so is up to you to meditate in the subject

It is generally not recommended for people with mental health disorders to meditate or project. It can exasperate the problems. Talk to your doctor about it and see what they say about meditating.
