so do you open your Astro eyes and then try and come out of your body or do you keep your eyes closed and tehn after you float or roll out and touch the ground or just out of your body you open your eyes? or does it not matter if you open your eyes before or after?

your vision switches to using your third eye, i was OBE a while back and i looked in a mirror and my eyes were closed lol
but could still see everything, so normally just before or during when you pop out your vision just comes to you

For RTZ exits, in which we have the sensation of leaving the physical body, vision doesn't usually come into operation until we have separated from the physical. And then it is often impaired until we get some distance from the physical body. There are variations,  of course, but most people report vision turning on after they leave the physical.

So in answer, generally, keep your "astro eyes" closed until you have achieved full separation, and then open them.

Certainly that's what I do. Normally, for me, the only senses operating during exit are proprioception, or if you like, sense of movement and position. Sense of hearing may be present also. Once I have exited, the sense of touch is always there. Finally, vision begins to operate, and improves once I leave my bedroom. I think that's fairly typical. Having said that, I have had exits, with vision operative, and it's extremely "cool". I watch the bedroom ceiling as it moves towards me, and then it tilts. The walls swing into position and the room moves around me as I land on the floor. It's a really exhilarating sensation.

Yeah i believe it's basically your third eye that helps you see during astral projection. But, the funny part is that during both my OBE's (the only successful ones), after the projection, i have looked back at my physical self and found my eyes wide open!!
To astral project is an art

Don't open your eyes while you are perceiving yourself lying in bed. Your eyes are one of the parts of your anatomy that aren't immobilised during the vibrational stage?Sleep Paralysis.

If you open your eyes during SP it will only serve to ground you in the physical. Wait till your focus is separated.

Although

If you are using a phasing method then it is nonphysical visual stimuli that instigates it... whether it be the visual perception of 3D blackness in front of you or the feeling you are seeing through your eyelids and stepping into the scene... you rely on image based perception.

I agree, don't open your eyes during SP, you may end up opening your physical eyes.

... and see confusing hallucinations of shadow people and/or entities as your semi controllable physical eyes miss match and misinterpret shadows in your room.

wow thanks for mentioning that. i have projected a lot, but am only just getting "good" at it. i found myself projecting at a friend's house where numerous people have perceived some nasty energy... i let myself get scared and found myself in sleep paralysis with my eyes open. saw weird, um, shadow people, yeah. it was awful because i was almost at a point of no return projection wise but my eyes were open! glad to hear it was likely hallucination! ditto. do not recommend! (didn't help i had just listened to a coast to coast AM radio show about this very phenomenon, only they believe in the shadow people... heh)

Also... the hallucinations aren't helped by the 'presence' that can be sensed sometimes.
