Intense vibrations are uncomfortable

Hey guys,

I have never had the typical body vibrations Robert Monroe writes about in his books before I started experimenting in OOBEs and LDing.
When I started LDing, I had no knowledge of OOBEs, yet I started to experience mild forms of these vibrations, but only when I tried to get them. Recently, I've become very interested in OOBEs, and I can get them on demand now.

However, I'm currently in the process of beating the fear barrier. I just need my own time to work on it. Yet the vibrations are starting to come all the time now. Last night, I was very tired and just wanted to sleep, yet within seconds of closing my bed I was getting very intense and scary vibrations. When I actually want to try OOBEing, this would be very welcome, but I'm not ready and it's almost making me fear going to bed.

Is this normal? Or is it a sign that I'll be able to OOBE fairly easily? And what is an easy way to get rid of them when I want to?

Thanks guys,

Calum

This is perfectly normal and the sole reason that I try to warn people here to think before they open "Pandora's Box". I went through a period of about 2 weeks where I tried to go to sleep normally, but found that I was "noticing" for hours with my eyes shut, unable to turn it off. This subsided after awhile, but at the time was extremely bothersome.  :-(

Welcome to my life

Truth is you may never completely get over the fear barrier. I haven't, but I'm still able to do amazing things that few people get to experience. The draw back is that it's taken me years, but it was definitely worth it. I went through the exact same thing, you will not die from this. Getting vibrations is a good sign, but only the first step. It takes some getting accustom to. But once you have an actual OBE the fear level is far beyond the level that you're experiencing now, at least it was for me.

Here's a pro-tip. If you really want to get rid of them, once it happens get up out of bed and stand up. Stretch, get a drink of water, jump up and down, whatever just get some blood flowing. When you're feeling awake or after 10 minutes go back to bed and you'll sleep fine. The hard part of this is forcing yourself to normal consciousness, it's a learned skill, just focus on jerking your leg or moving part of your body with all your will. In time you'll be punking out like a pro and hating yourself each time you do.  :-D

"Scary vibrations"?
What makes them scary to you?  Sure, it might not be something you've ever felt before, but that doesn't intrinsically make them scary.  :)

Think about WHY you're labeling them 'scary', then work towards assuring yourself that your worries are unfounded.

Think about this... consider what the absolute WORST thing that could happen to you because of them, then accept that.  Once you've accepted the absolute worst, nothing should scare you.  :)

Well I'm scared of the vibrations because they are so intense, and I know they could potentionally lead to an OOBE which is also most probably a terrifing experience to me. I'm aware I'm not going to die during it, I'm more worried that I'll get back, realize they are real and go mental!! xo

Accept it all.  :)

You now have nothing more to fear.

Wiggling your toes will instantly kill the vibrations, If you are scared to project, don't. There is many more scarier things than just the vibrations that you can conjure up in the Astral. Don't attempt to AP until you are mentally prepared for what could be out there!

You say that the vibrations would be welcome if you were "ready".  I'm wondering why you think you're not ready, and what you think will change to make you ready.
Really, the only way to get over the fear is to go through the experience. I've had vibrations so strong sometimes that I was sure they were damaging my physical body. But they never did - or could. You have to take the plunge sometime if you want to experience OBE's , and a year down the line the vibrations will be just as alarming as they are now. I think you should bite the bullet and go for it while the opportunity is presenting itself.  The fact that you're getting vibrations means you are probably ready.

Yeh, I think you're probably right mate. I've attempted it before and felt so, so close, like I actually felt my spirit body leaving, but that's the furthest I've got. TONIGHT!!!!
