Does everyone phase?

Hi all, does everyone on this forum phase to ap.  I do not phase as I have my way of doing things.  My idea of phasing is I try to notice things when my eyes are closed.  I do not know if you do a lot more than that.  If you phase and I do not phase that means we have different ways of doing things.  If someone asks a question and I try to help I may not be much help because you do a different method.  Am I correct?

That's one way. Phasing is the act of turning the Physical Reality off and the NPR on. However you do it is not important, as long as you can. Here on this Forum we try to help people get to this area, regardless of their chosen technique. Some do it by meditation, some from Dreams/Lucid Dreams and still others by "climbing" out of their body. All these techniques share the same goal and that's to be Consciously Aware, regardless of where you may end up and to have an element of control in said area.

Hey Suzy. I think it is all a matter of personal preference. After trying a few things I found what works best for me. Basically the major key for me is to do it in the early morning when my mind and the physiology of my body are in the ideal state for non-physical experiences. It is so much easier to get into the NPR when you dont have to force mental and physical relaxation. Sure its a bit of a PITA because you have to wake up early and thats not fun...but boy do the NPR experiences you will surely have motivate the heck out of you to keep waking up early even though its not fun being tired. The other thing is I think it takes some practice to maintain full waking consciousness as your awareness transfers from full waking consciousness into other areas of the NPR...like anything its just practice and programming the body to do this. So for example when I am up early, say around 5am, I do some visualization exercises and this usually lasts 30mins or so and then at some point the hypnogogic images will take over and I let them lead...now at this point I am somewhere between awake and dreaming...I am not really in either....then what will happen is vibrations will start I let them build and then suddenly I am in the NPR...sometimes I see the movie screen everyone talks about and step into the scene...sometimes I just end up somewhere not knowing how I got there. I would say my success rate is about 90% of the mornings I do this and the reason for that, in my opinion, is that I have trained my body and my mind that "hey guys, when we get up early and go through all this its because we want to have a NPR experience" and so now thats just what ends up happening. HTH, Cheers LoG

I forgot one important point. When I am in that inbetween state following along with the hypnogogic images...not really awake but also not asleep at all....for me, its when the vibrations start (and they happen every time for some reason...probably just because that is what I expect....its part of my routine)...as soon as those vibrations start BANG my full waking consciousness returns and then from that point onward I am fully aware and off into the NPR. Heck, half the time I get bored with my visualizations and just say screw it and roll over and go to sleep....and sure enough BANG the vibrations will start anyway and I am immediately out of sleep and back to full waking consciousness and off into the NPR. Again, I think the main reason it works this way for is because I have conditioned my body and mind to do this...its almost like they (my body and mind) know that when I get up early and start visualizing...they know what I want from them which are the vibrations and then the shifting of awareness into the NPR. Cheers.

Thank you for your replies.  That is good to know that everyone tries to ap that works best for them.
leavesofgrass I find it a lot easier to ap in the mornings as well.  The body is already relaxed so you do not have to worry about that.  Also you have plenty of time to practice.  There is no rush.  I find it extremely important to believe that I can ap.  I am able to ap a lot more now than I used to.  I think it is because I keep telling myself I can do it.  If I do not believe it will happen it does not happen.  I have lost confidence in visualising.  To be able to visualise is a really good skill to have.  I can visualise but it will not work if I do not believe it will.  I have to work on that.  I have to keep telling myself I can visualise.  Occasionally it works.
I do not have a problem waking up early as I wake up early every morning because I have to go to the bathroom.  I am getting very used to practicing to ap in the mornings now so it is not a problem.  I am not tired the next day.  Sometimes I am tired in the evening so I go to bed early.  It sounds like you are doing well  leavesofgrass.  I am happy for you.  I know you are doing well Lionheart with your ap experiences.  Cheers to both of you.

i go for ap but as i climb out  with the rope i end up in astral phase i think its looking for the exit it  creats all the right things for phasing to happen.

I don't phase with visualizations. Everyone has their favorite preference though.

Hey Suzy,

It is so true what you said about believing you can do it. That is probably the most important thing and for most people probably one of the biggest hurdles to get over. Because you can tell yourself you believe on the surface but if its not a deep down belief it still wont work. Its kind of like finding fear in the NPR...you can tell yourself you are not scared on the surface but if there is fear deep down in your gut then it will certainly manifest itself in the NPR. So yeah the belief is so important and it cant just be a window-dressing type of belief.

As for the visualizations I totally understand you. I dont like them either to be honest...because again you have to really believe in what you are doing and get lost in your visualizations...and thats not easy. But I have a feeling that like with anything more and more practice will make it easier to become totally immersed in the visualizations... I am definitely not a strong visualizer yet but am working on it. And as Todd said not every visualizes and they can still project. Thats whats so cool about all of this is that we are all different and there are so many different yet equally effective ways! I think Lionheart seems to be quite good at visualization...Hey Lion, if you have a second can you write a sort of dissertation on visualization? Seriously, how you go about it even down to the smallest details.

A simple one is start by seeing a drop of water falling onto a leaf. Watch this for awhile. Watch how it hits the leaf, then what does it do? Does it fall off the leaf into a river? As the drop falls does it leave a splatter or ripple on water under it? What else is around? Do you see trees, or a river bank? Let the scene morph into what it wants to. You are just there to passively observe right now.
Do you see what's happening here? You are starting a very simple visual and then watching as it become more complex. Use the same leaf scenario everytime. At first you will only see the leaf for a second, the next time you might be able to see the drop as it hits the leaf, the next time you get more of the picture. this is why practice is so important. Start simple and let it become more complex ed over time. Pretty soon you will find yourself in a conversation with someone beside you that is viewing the same scene. Anything is possible in the NPR.  :-)

That sounds great Lionheart, a wonderful visualisation.  My problem is if I do not ap straight away I think it is not going to work.  I know that is a mistake and I am working on changing that.

i carnt switch the vizulization off it just  turns on  like a light just as fall im faling asleep. so it takes me longer to get to sleep.
